As N. Day was not riding at today’s meeting due to transport difficulties, riding substitutions were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

As rider L. Tilley was to be overweight in Races 1 and 4, he was replaced as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

As G. Watson was not indisposed following race 1, riding substitutions were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Magic Millions/FNQ p & Coming Stayers Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1900m

CRIAGLEA CETINA – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight. On return to scale jockey G. Watson became indisposed. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Jockey Watson was advised that he must provide a medical clearance before riding again.

COLLYWOBBLE – Over-raced for a short distance near the 1300m.

Race 2: Mercedes Travel QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap - 950mx

THE GIRLS ‘N’ ME – G. Watson was dually engaged at acceptance time, he was replaced as the rider of this horse by jockey L. Tilley. Jockey Watson was reprimanded. Made the 800m crossing awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 500m and shifted in, brushing the running rail.
WHAT’S ROCKIN’ – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

CRAIGLEA ARION – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.

LUNCH WITH COOPS – Slow to begin. Made the 800m crossing awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

CAT STREET – Slow to begin.

JUMPIN’JACKMAC – Slow to begin.

CONQUERESS – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 600m, crowding another runner. Raced greenly throughout the race and hung out rounding the home turn.

CRAIGLEA RAFFERTY – Began awkwardly.

SHADOWCAT – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

COOL ATTITUDE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 3: Boatshed QTIS 2yo & 3you Maiden H’cap – 950m

GOTTA BE BETTER – Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer B. Williams for the late declaration of C. Whiteley as the rider of the horse. Slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA GUNSMOKE – Slow to begin.

BOLD STYLE – Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight.

SARAH’S GIRL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MULLIGANS – Slow to begin.

BONNEZONE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

LABRUSCO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ADOREE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 4: Tuff Tyres FNQ QTIS 3yo H’cap – 950m

OUR ALICIA’S LANE – Began very awkwardly, losing considerable ground. Trainer B. Williams was advised he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the horse.

MISS ESTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MIRACLES APLENTY – Shifted out near the 100m, placing another runner in an awkward position on the heels of another runner. Jockey P. Romeo was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.

YALANJI – Forced wider being placed in an awkward position on another runner’s heels near the 100m and was steadied. Shifted wider leaving the 800m and raced wide for the remainder of the race.

BOLD AURORA – Broke down leaving the 200m, being restrained. A post raced veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore in the near side fetlock. Trainer G. Taylor was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided before the horse would be permitted to race again.

Correct weight was delayed when the stewards wished to view the photo-finish of the race. After viewing the photo-finish of the race, the Judge agreed to rearrange and alter the semaphored number and correct weight was giving on the numbers: No. 5 – 1st No. 6 – 2nd No. 3 – 3rd No. 8 – 4th No. 10 – 5th.

Race 5: Rita (Hall) Parker Class 2 Plate – 1500m

SILVER BOWS – Slow to begin.

ROOSTER HUNTER – Slow to begin.

MICK’S DREAM – Laid out rounding the home turn.

LORD ARCHER – Upon being weighed in rider W. D’Avila was found to have carried less weight, being in excess of half a kilogram after it was found that the lead bag was left off the gelding. Acting under the provisions of AR 209 LORD ARCHER was disqualified from the event, and correct weight was given on the number 2.6.1.9. At a subsequent inquiry trainer R. Chillemi pleaded guilty under AR 209 (1) (2) (a) (b) in that he mistakenly left the lead bag off the gelding when saddling the horse and as such Mr Chillemi was fined the sum of $1000.

Race 6: Bells Pure Ice Cairns Class 1 H’cap – 1250m

DE LADY DULUXE – After beginning awkwardly was then bumped by another runner, which shifted out.

BUCK STOPS HERE – Shifted out on jumping, bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ZELENUS – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainer P. McGujre was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate before the horse would be permitted to race again.

ULTIMATE DANCER – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer G. Porter was advised that the horse’s nomination would be refused at TAB venues until such times as its form improved by way of country meetings.

SUNNY SAILOR – Delayed the start further after proving difficult to load. Trainer L. Donovan was advised she must obtain a further barrier certificate before the horse would be permitted to race again.

AMATA SORELLA – Compounded leaving the 400m and finished tailed off. Trainer P. Rowe was advised that the horse’s nomination would be refused at TAB meetings until it showed form improvement by way of country meetings.


Race 7: Treasury Wine Estates Class 1 H’cap – 1250m

ZIEGELBAUER – Began awkwardly.

CANDY GIRL – Began awkwardly.

TAPTHETILL – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.

TEXAS GAL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the raced.

SHARP ARROW – Restrained near the 950m when racing in restricted room. Crowded for room near the 150m.

TECZA – Shifted in near the 950m, inconveniencing another runner. Rider R. Thompson was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.

AGGARWAL – Inconvenienced near the 950m and was restrained. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

EVIE CAT – Hung in for the majority of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore in the off foreleg. Trainer P. Rowe advised the horse would now be retired from racing, however he was nevertheless advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided should the horse continue to race.

Correct weight was delayed to allow Rider L. Tilley, rider of the 4th placegetter Sharp Arrow, to view the stewards patrol video to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection on the grounds of interference near the 250m against CANDY GIRL being declared the winner. After viewing the film he did not proceed with an objection.

Race 8: Clive Gordon Class 6 Plate – 1250m

THE HARROVIAN – Bumped by another runner on jumping after beginning awkwardly and lost ground.

WE JUST LOVE IT – Shifted out at the start, bumping another runner.

FIRST STIMULUS – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping by another runner which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

PARTY PIES – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be sore over the hind quarters. Trainer S. Cooper advised it was his intention to give the horse a short let up. Stewards advised Mr Cooper however that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the horse being permitted to race again.


Race 9: 2019 TAB Battle Of The Bush Mareeba Qualifier Open H’cap – 1250m

AHERN – Jockey F. Edwards was unable to make the allotted weight on his mount and was replaced by apprentice R. Shred when no other senior rider was available. Jockey Edwards was fined $100.

VOLTAIC – Declared a late scratching at 4.23 pm by order of the stewards when the horse dislodged its rider, C. Whiteley, and galloped for some distance prio to the race. On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable on wagers placed prior to 4.23pm.

EXECUTED – Bumped shortly after the start and blundered, losing ground.

PLATINUM TYCOON – Shifted out shortly after the start bumping another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BOLD XAVVI – Rider dropped his off-side rein leaving the 200m, placing him at a disadvantage. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BON TEMPS – Jockey F. Edwards was unable to make the allotted weight on his mount and was replaced by B. Thomson. Jockey Edwards was fined $100. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
