GENERAL
 
Due to a sprinkler malfunction Monday night and early Tuesday morning a section of the track between the 400m and 300m had been heavily irrigated causing that section of track to be rated in the Heavy range. Prior to the start of the meeting Stewards with a delegation of riders inspected the track and were satisfied to proceed with the meeting. This information was advised through various media outlets.
 
Due to cancelled southern events race times were amended as follows:  
Cairns R1 @ 1:43, R2 @ 2:15, R3 @ 2:47, R4 @ 3:19, R5 @ 3:51, R6 @ 4:23, R7 @ 4:55, R8 @ 5:28
 
As M. Abe was not riding today due to injury, Stewards permitted riding replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Abe was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.
 
Race 1: LLOYD MITCHEL MAIDEN PLATE – 950M
 
Following the running of this race the Judge advised Stewards that the photo finish camera had failed to operate. After being viewing footage of the race footage the Stewards and Judge, the Stewards were comfortably satisfied with the placings and correct weight was given on 1st – 6 MISSION ROAD, 2ND – 2 FLUTTERING,  3RD – 1 – EXCLUSIVE MO, 4TH – 3 BUSH RAMBLER.   
 
The start was delayed when FLUTTERING broke through the front of the barriers, after being quickly restrained was returned to the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination, and was cleared to start.
 
APOLOGY ACCEPTED – Slow to begin.
 
CRAIGLEA RAFFERTY – Tightened for room on jumping by FLUTTERING which jumped inwards. Raced greenly in the early stages and made the 800m crossing awkwardly.
 
FLUTTERING – Jumped inwards at the start tightening CRAIGLEA RAFFERTY.
 
EXCLUSIVE MO – Shifted in near the 400m momentarily placing PURRFECTIONIST in restricted room. Rider L. Tilley was advised to show greater care.
 
PURRFECTIONIST – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 400m.
 
CLASSIC ENUFF – Raced greenly in the home straight becoming unbalanced leaving the 200m and was steadied.
 
SERENE MELODY – Raced greenly rounding the home turn and in the home straight proving difficult to ride out.

Race 2: TAB QTIS 2 & 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1250M
 
ARTIMO – Slow to begin.
 
ROBIG – Slow to begin.
 
SUPER DANCER – Began awkwardly and was steadied off the heels of LOVE OVER GOLD shortly after the start. Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
BERNIE BEEL – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
STOLEN DIAMONDS – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Momentarily unbalanced near the 400m when bumped by GOLDEN HANDS which shifted in slightly.
 
GOLDEN HANDS - Shifted in slightly near the 400m bumping STOLEN DIAMONDS.  
 
LET’S GO SMARTY – Raced 3 wide without cover leaving the 900m and for the remainder of the race.
 
Race 3: FOWLER’S GROUP CLASS 6 PLATE – 950M
 
SPARKLY STAR – After being hampered on jumping was slow into stride.
 
EXCEEDING ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards hampering SPARKLY STAR. Made the 800m crossing awkwardly.
 
STARENA – Began awkwardly causing rider to become momentarily unbalanced.
 
BET ON LOVE – Shifted out on jumping bumping FULL RECOGNITION.
 
FULL RECOGNITION – Shifted inwards on jumping bumping BET ON LOVE. Over-raced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
Race 4: CENTURY CRANES RATINGS BAND 0 – 58 H’CAP – 950M
 
SHE’S NIC’N OFF – Slow to begin.
 
FOXY FELINE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and was slow into stride. Raced in restricted room for a short distance soon after the start. Shifted in under pressure bumping TELL EVERYBODY approaching the winning post.  
 
CONQUERESS – Over-raced in the early stages and as a result raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GOLDEN CHARLES – Shifted out across heels near the 500m forcing CONQUERESS wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MUSIC – Restrained off the heels of CONQUERESS which was being restrained when over-racing near the 600m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SET TO SIZZLE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 550m.
 
TELL EVERYBODY – Bumped by FOXY FELINE which shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
HONEY KO – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. 
 
Race 5: LOU PICCONE MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 H'CAP – 1250M
 
ARTHUR PORRIT – Proved difficult to load. Improved onto heels near the 800m having to be restrained. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Trainer P. Rowe was advised a warning would be placed the gelding’s barrier manners. 
 
URBAN MYTH – Slowly away. Made heavy contact with the running rail when racing tight to the inside of another runner near the 550m.
 
JOHN THE RODENT – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
ROTH ‘N’ BELL- Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
TECHNICIAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
OCTOBER STORM- Jockey C Whiteley reported that the gelding had over-raced and was inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages.
 
VEHEMENT- Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
Jockey S Sheargold pleaded guilty to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 400m he permitted EXTRACTION to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of URBAN MYTH (App M Potgieter) which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey Sheargold’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight August 4th up to and including August 13th 2020. Jockey Sheargold was advised of his internal review rights.
 
Race 6: TROPICAL LAWNS BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1250M
 
VIA BALCIANO – Slow to begin. Hampered by BULLION WOLF which shifted out approaching the 100m.
 
BOLD TYPE – Slow to begin when tightened between runners after beginning awkwardly. Restrained near the 950m after improving onto heels and again near the 600m.
 
LICKETY LACHIE – Slow to begin. Shifted out on jumping tightening a runner to its inside. Shifted wider near the 550m racing wide from that point. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DEIGO BAY – Raced ungenerously for the majority. Shifted in near the 300m inconveniencing another runner. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected near the 100m. Trainer F Weiland was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start.
 
BULLION WOLF – Shifted out under pressure near the 100m inconveniencing VIA BALCIANO.  App M Potgieter was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
 
NO EFFORT NEEDED – Crowded for room when tiring near the 250m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: MAXIFORCE RECRUIT BENCHMARK 69 H'CAP – 1500M
 
I’M NOT SURE – Stood flat footed losing ground at the start. Trainer S Potiris was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
BRILLIANT MIND – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
NARDA SHAR – Shifted out under pressure near the 100m having to steadied from the heels of SALESMAN.
 
RUBY RED SOCKS- After beginning awkwardly was restrained and settled off the pace. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
THE FOX EFFECT- Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Restrained off heels near the 1000m.
 
GROOZY PLAYMATE- Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
KINGSBRIDGE- Bumped with another runner after being placed in restricted room on jumping. Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
VAN GAAL- Shifted in on jumping placing a runner to its inside in restricted room.
 
Race 8: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO. OPEN H'CAP – 1900M
 
HOT SAGA – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
BUXTON – Lost ground after beginning very awkwardly and shifted out abruptly severely inconveniencing WE JUST LOVE IT which lost ground. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. Trainer L Donovan was advised the gelding would be required to trial before its next race start.
 
WE JUST LOVE IT – Lost ground at the start when inconvenienced by BUXTON which began very awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ROCKSPUR- Slowly away. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ROCCO- Became unbalanced after making contact with the inside running rail near the 1400m.
 
GREYCLIFEE- Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
BARWON- Over-raced in the middle stages.
