COLD HARD FACT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

CANNYHRO – Raced greenly throughout.

MISS PIXIE – Slow into stride. Apprentice S. Stephan reported that she became unbalanced on a number of occasions throughout the race when her mount became awkward in its action and as result, proved difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery.

Race 2: D&NDJC OPEN H’CAP – BASE RATING 72 – 1400M

BRENDA – Jockey E. Ljung could offer no explanation for the mare’s disappointing performance today, and advised that it had failed to run on in the home straight as she had expected. The trainer’s representative, N. Hahn, advised that the stable is disappointed with the mare’s three runs since returning from a tendon injury and, in light of today’s performance, the stable will now consider its current preparation.

CLIVEDEN – Laid in throughout.

JUST AS LOYAL – Slow to begin. On return to scale, jockey N. Tomizawa reported that the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise throughout the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was exhibiting a poor post-race recovery. Trainer M. Callaghan advised that he will now consider the gelding’s racing future.

Race 3: D&NDJC RATINGS BAND 0-60 H’CAP – BASE RATING 48 (SCALED + 1KG) – 1000M

ESSAKA – When questioned by Stewards in relation to her riding in the home straight, Apprentice A. Bakos advised that her mount commenced to lay out after being struck with the whip near the 200m, resulting in her having to correct the mare and steer it inwards. She advised that, in her opinion, the mare displayed a tendency to lay out again passing the 100m and, for this reason, she did not pressure her mount to prevent it from shifting out further and causing interference to other runners. After having had the opportunity to review the patrol footage, Apprentice Bakos agreed with Stewards that she had erred in not placing the mare under greater pressure over the concluding stages when it appeared reasonable to do so. Having regard to the horse’s racing manners early in the home straight, and Apprentice Bakos’ relative inexperience as an apprentice jockey, Stewards took the matter no further other than to refer this ride to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training Department for its attention.

DIGGITY – Began awkwardly. Laid in throughout. Shifted in abruptly leaving the 800m.

LAST ROUND – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Held up for clear running at the 100m, before shifting out across heels to secure clear running.

Race 4: D&NDJC CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M

MISTER WARD – Bumped by another runner to its outside at the 50m.

THE IRONS – After being slightly slow to begin, the gelding commenced to overrace and was steadied from heels for some distance passing the 1200m. Laid in over the concluding stages and bumped another runner to its inside at the 50m.

COACH – Slow into stride.

TONY’S DECREE – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained near the 900m. Raced wide without cover throughout.

AMERICAN SUMMER – Improved onto heels and had to be restrained for a short distance approaching the 800m. Raced wide without cover throughout.

Race 5: D&NDJC MAIDEN H’CAP – (SCALED + 3.5KG) – 1400M

MARK OF EIGHT – Slow to begin and, as a result, was slow into stride. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

DECOR DEELS – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Shifted out across heels in order to secure clear running when HECANROCKME shifted in leaving the 300m. Apprentice M. Wishart, the rider of HECANROCKME, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that leaving the 300m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of DECOR DEELS, resulting in that runner being checked and forced across the heels of HECANROCKME. Apprentice M. Wishart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight on Wednesday 10 June 2020 and conclude at midnight on Friday 19 June 2020.

GOLDEN JAZZ – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

PURPLE GEM – Laid out and was steadied from heels and lost ground at the 450m. Forced wider on the track by a runner to its inside approaching the 150m.

RUFF IT UP – On return to scale, Apprentice A. Thompson reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight.

Race 6: D&NDJC BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – BASE RATING 52 – 1200M

ALL STARS – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance, Apprentice A. Thompson advised that, in his opinion, the gelding was not suited by the fast early tempo, however he felt that the significant weight impost that the horse was required to carry today was the major contributing factor to its poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery and an elevated heart rate. Trainer B. Healey was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary certificate, including the results of an ECG, prior to resuming racing. Mr. Healey advised that in light of today’s performance, and the veterinary report, he will now consider the horse’s racing future in his stable.

ENTERPRISE GRAND – Began awkwardly.

BRIS VEGAS – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice N. Keal was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

SIR BAM – Began awkwardly and made contact with another runner to its outside.

MACHU PICCHU – Steadied from heels approaching the 150m, and shifted in to secure clear running when a runner to its inside laid out.

ABITOFACARD – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey B. Newport reported that his mount did not travel strongly at any stage the race, however he could offer no explanation for its seemingly disappointing performance today. Trainer C. Henry expressed disappointment with the performance of the gelding, which he advised had continued to work well in its preparation for today’s race. He further advised that in light of today’s performance he will now freshen up the gelding prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

DAISY’S APART – Became fractious in the barriers. Raced wide without cover throughout. On return to scale, Apprentice M. Wishart advised that her mount was inclined to hang out throughout.

HIGHTOWER – Slow into stride.

DONE IT AGAIN – Became fractious in the barriers. Laid in near the 900m and tightened a runner to its inside.

ALEJANDRA – Became fractious in the barriers. Raced in restricted room and lost ground near the 900m when a runner to its outside laid in. Shifted out abruptly near the 200m, and then laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

RAKU’S SECRET – Steadied to avoid heels leaving the 900m and, as a result, shifted out.

SUPER LEON – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

TAPA BONNIE – Began awkwardly.

DIVINE MISS BOOM – Raced in restricted room near the 400m when RAKU’S SECRET shifted out marginally. Apprentice T. Townsend, the rider of RAKU’S SECRET was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.
