Race 1: ST RITA’S COLLEGE QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1110m
 
OKEECHOBEE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer D. Vandyke was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s barriers manners. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
MAGIC BEANS – Jumped away awkwardly and was bumped soon afterwards when THE ODYSSEY jumped inwards. Made contact with SOLDATI after travelling a short distance. Blundered approaching the 600m after clipping the heels of GUNTANTES. Raced wide when improving from the 500m. Laid in in the straight.
 
THE ODYSSEY – Made contact with MAGIC BEANS on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
SOLDATI – Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by MAGIC BEANS. Near the 1000m lost ground when crowded between MAGIC BEANS, which rolled in and OKEECHOBEE, which rolled out.
 
GUNTANTES – When racing keenly dipped near the 650m after clipping the heels of BUCKETS OF PRIDE. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400m and 200m.
 
POCKET PISTOL – Raced wide throughout.
 
Jockey M. McNab (SOLDATI) was fined $200 for returning to scale in excess of one-half a kilo over his declared weight.
Race 2: POWERING THE HAPPY Fillies & Mares Class 6 Plate – 1050m
 
ROUND MOUNTAIN GAL – Slow to begin.
 
DAM WONDERFUL – Slow to begin.
 
ORADONNA – Bumped on jumping. Lost ground whilst racing tight to the inside of PRUE’S ANGEL passing the 800m.
 
TOLAI MERI – Bumped on jumping. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia and was also short striding in front. Trainer L. White was advised that the results of an ECG must be produced together with a veterinary clearance and the mare must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.
 
Following  the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
Race 3: BRISBANE MARRIOTT HOTEL Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200m
 
HAPPY HOOVES – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
FOMO – When racing keenly shifted outwards abruptly passing the 800m and thereafter raced wide until entering the home straight.
 
JOHNNY BE QUICK – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
 
BELLA OCCHI – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained lacerations to the near fore and off hind legs.
 
Jockey B. Stewart (HAPPY HOOVES) was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
 
 
Race 4: WESTWOOD WORKSHOP Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1200m
 
OH BOY – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up approaching the 100m.
 
GODZONE GIRL – Slow into stride. Eased when crowded to the inside of ANNATIME, which shifted in abruptly when racing ungenerously near the 1000m.
 
BARNSLEY – Lost ground when crowded on jumping between MISTER SPINKS and YEAHNAH.
 
SCORCHA – Became unbalanced near the 50m when bumped by DREAM KISSES, which shifted in and away from FEMME FIREBALL.
 
DREAM KISSES –  Made contact with SCORCHA near the 50m. Raced wide throughout.
 
ANNATIME – Raced ungenerously throughout.
 
After the running of this event App C. Gallagher (ANNATIME) upon returning to scale was dislodged from his mount. App Gallagher was examined by the Doctor and subsequently cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
 
Race 5: MADISON CLEANING SERVICES Open Handicap – 1350m
 
FORTENSKY – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Cast a near fore plate in running.
 
ARENA SALON – Hampered on jumping when BEL BURGESS jumped inwards. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg and suffering from a tendon injury. Trainer N. McCall was advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again. Ms McCall advised that it was her intention to retire the gelding.
 
COURTZA KING – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1100m. Laid inwards over the final 100m. When questioned regarding racing in a rearward position jockey J. Byrne stated that it was originally his intention to race forward however, after jumping only fairly he then found himself racing three wide to the outside of FRESPANOL. As such rather than be caught wide he obtained cover following FRESPANOL, expecting that horse to maintain a forward position. Soon afterwards runners to the outside crossed FRESPANOL which resulted in his mount racing further back than he would have liked.
 
TIME TO TORQUE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 450m and 300m.
 
FRESPANOL – Lost ground shortly after passing the 400m when crowded between ARENA SALON, which was giving ground and DREAM FINNISH, which shifted outwards slightly.
 
 
Race 6: EJ CAST IRON Benchmark 80 Handicap – 2000m
 
METEOROLOGIST – Fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
ESTIKHRAAJ – Slow to begin.
 
IMPAVIDO – Lost ground when crowded on jumping between OUTSTRIP and MONACO SNOB. When questioned regarding the performance jockey J. Lloyd stated that he had noticed the gelding had sweated quite badly before the race. He further stated that IMPAVIDO had not travelled well in the running and had hung in badly for the majority of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in front. Trainer B. Baker will be advised that in view of the disappointing performance the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
MONACO SNOB – Inconvenienced on jumping when EL CAMPEADOR jumped awkwardly outwards.
 
SLAUGHTER BAY – Eased near the 350m when FAIRLIGHTING rolled outwards. Jockey R. Maloney (FAIRLIGHTING) was reprimanded for shifting ground. App C. Bayliss (SLAUGHTER BAY) was reprimanded for the standard of evidence he provided in this inquiry.

 
Race 7: INVERTEK DRIVES Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 6 Plate – 1050m
 
FREDDIE FOX TROT – Slow to begin.
 
STAR OF HARADA – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start made contact with DESERT MAN, when awkwardly placed on the heels of IMPREGNABLE. Checked near the 600m. During an inquiry it was established that near the 700m TRUCULENT was steadied outwards away from the heels of FREDDIE FOX TROT, which shifted out and TRUCULENT then rolled inwards crowding IMPREGNABLE, which had improved to its inside whilst racing keenly. As a result IMPREGNABLE then shifted in and away from TRUCULENT and crowded STAR OF HARADA, which was checked and lost ground. Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider however, all riders were advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
TRUCULENT – Steadied outwards away from the heels of FREDDIE FOX TROT, which shifted outwards near the 700m. Jockey R. Plumb (FREDDIE FOX TROT) was reprimanded.  
 
 
Race 8: PROAV AND AVT Class 3 Plate - 1600m
 
FANX underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers after working hard during its preliminary and was found to have an elevated heart rate. FANX was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4.02 p.m. All monies invested on FANX were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placegetters prior to 4.02 p.m.:-
 
1 cent in the dollar for the win - #5 (BRYNEICH)
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #5 (BRYNEICH)
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #9 (MYMMING)
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - # 8 (SO YOU WISH)
 
MYMMING – Struck the fence whilst leaving the enclosure, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped on jumping. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. Then had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 350m and 200m.
 
NAPOLEON’S WAR – Bumped on jumping.
 
SWEET ADALINE – Got its head up shortly after the start after being bumped by DOWNLOADING.
 
BRYNEICH – Shortly after passing the 1200m was inconvenienced and carried wider when PRINCE OF TIE shifted outwards away from the heels of SO YOU WISH, which shifted in. Jockey M. Cahill (SO YOU WISH) was reprimanded.
 
DOWNLOADING – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROMAN DOLL – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 9: RAY WHITE ASCOT QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1200m
 
As R. Wiggins was overweight and no senior riders were available Stewards permitted App C. Bayliss to be substituted as the rider of ESKDALE GIRL. Jockey Wiggins was fined $200.
 
PLUMARO – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
MAGIC FOX – Steadied shortly after jumping from its wide barrier and was taken back to obtain a position closer to the rail. Held up when unable to improve between the 500m and 250m. When attempting to  obtain clear running at the 350m made contact with QUANYIN. Shortly after then became awkwardly placed on the heels of NO REFUND and made contact with the hind quarters of that colt. NO REFUND then turned outwards crowding MAGIC FOX onto QUANYIN.
 
QUANYIN – Jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with IMA TEAMBOY. Bumped and carried wider near the 350m.  
 
IMA TEAMBOY – Bumped on jumping.
 
CONQUERMORE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
NO REFUND – Became unbalanced when bumped near the 350m.
 
SHAMURT – Shortly after passing the 300m the jockey J. Byrne had his whip struck out of his hand.
 
DESERT DIGBY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
JAMI LADY – A post race veterinary examination revealed the off fore plate had shifted in running and therefore the horse had stood on the toe clip during the event, which may have had a bearing on the horse’s performance, as the rider had reported it had been short in its action.
 
RACECOURSE ROAD – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had been galloped on the near hind leg sustaining an abrasion to the back of the tendon and a laceration to the outside heel  of that near hind and lost a near hind plate.

Race 10: ESP SOLUTIONS NMW Handicap – 1350m
 
HIDDEN GOLD – Slow to begin.
 
CHARLES THE THIRD – Slow to begin.
 
VOLTAIRE LUMIERE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
CEDARWOOD – Approaching the home turn made contact with INTRINSIC on a number of occasions. Held up in the early part of the home straight until approaching the 200m.
 
FASTA THAN LIGHT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
