Following the track downgrade to HEAVY 8 after Race 2, stewards acceded to requests by a number of trainers to scratch, as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: WWW.BRC.COM.AU MAIDEN H'CAP – 1110M

Due to transport difficulties, L. Tarrant was unable to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement and was replaced by B. Ainsworth as the rider of HOLUS BOLUS.

AENGUS – As the horse had not started since June 2016, it underwent a routine veterinary examination which cleared the gelding to race. Held up and unable to improve between the 450m and the 300m.

SPUR WING – Bumped heavily near the 700m. Bled from both nostrils. Ineligible to race for 3 months and before starting again must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.

FEARLESS QUEEN – Jumped away awkwardly. Commenced to race keenly passing the 700m and shifted outwards, carrying HOLUS BOLUS wider on the track.

HEY DOLL – Commenced to prove very difficult to settle near the 800m and raced up into an awkward position between SPUR WING and HOLUS BOLUS, which shifted inwards slightly. As a result, HEY DOLL made contact with HOLUS BOLUS and shortly after, when proving extremely difficult to settle, shifted in, making heavy contact with SPUR WING.

MAX THE DREAM – The gelding underwent a veterinary examination after being late to arrive on course and was subsequently cleared to race. A pre-race sample was also taken.

HOLUS BOLUS – Bumped near the 800m. Raced wide from the 600m.

Race 2: BRISBANE RACING CARNIVAL 2019 QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1350M

As L. Tilley was to be overweight, M. Du Plessis was substituted as the rider of DECK OF ACES. L. Tilley was fined $200.

SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow into stride.

THIRD MARTINI – Had to be eased near the 300m when racing tight between SPIRIT ESPRIT and DECK OF ACES.

BAY NOT GREY – Slow to begin.

Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8, retrospective to the event.

Race 3: BRC MEMBERSHIPS CLASS 1 PLATE – 2060M

The start of this race was delayed when barrier staff had to make adjustments to the positioning of the barriers.

EXCELEBRATION GOLD – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with WILLY BE LUCKY.

SUNDAYINMANHATTAN – Trainer N. McBurney advised that, due to the pattern of racing today, the gelding would be ridden further forward today if circumstances permit. The horse raced in a handy position. Bumped when racing tight to the inside of MISSED THE ALARM, which shifted in near the 1800m and then had to be steadied off the heels of CORAL COAST. R. Maloney, the rider of CORAL COAST, was shown the patrol footage and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

WILLY BE LUCKY – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages.

TAVISFACTION – Bumped when racing tight to the inside of MISSED THE ALARM, which shifted in near the 1800m.

MISSED THE ALARM – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. Had to be eased near the 900m after getting up on to the heels of EXCELEBRATION GOLD.

STORMY LEO – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: TAB QTIS 3YO C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M

BRAHMA ARMOUR – Connections advised that, due to the pattern of racing today, the gelding would be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. The horse settled in a handy position. Got its head up when racing keenly passing the 800m. Shifted out near the 100m, making contact with LUCKY FIX.

HARD YAGA – Laid inwards near the 300m, bumping another runner.

LOTSA SPIRIT – Bumped near the 300m when HARD YAGA laid inwards.

FAST AND HOPEFUL – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

KITTY DAMOUR – Held up for clear running making the turn into the straight.

LASHONI – Restless in the barriers, sat back as the start was effected, losing considerable ground. Raced four wide from the 800m.

STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Jumped extremely awkwardly and as a result shifted inwards, making contact with AMANTIS shortly after the start.

Race 6: ARTISAN CARNIVAL HIGH TEA CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350M

TOGA PICTA – Steadied approaching the 1000m when crowded between DOWNLOADING, which shifted outwards slightly, and DREAMTIMER, which shifted inwards.

CINNAMON MISSILE – Jumped away awkwardly.

SIX SIGMA – Dipped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages and near the 1000m was inconvenienced and carried wider when DREAMTIMER shifted outwards. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding, jockey B. Stewart stated that after jumping away awkwardly he initially rode his mount along with a view to following SHAUQUIN across to obtain a forward position. He believed his mount was travelling comfortably and able to get across, however DREAMTIMER had raced up to obtain a position to his inside which resulted in him being not clear to cross and thereby being caught wide. He added that down the back straight the gelding was inconvenienced and carried wider when runners to his inside shifted out. As a result he was then obliged to race wide throughout. After having a hard run throughout, he eased his mount down in the straight. Jockey Stewart stated that in hindsight he perhaps should have been more aggressive in the early stages, which may have enabled him to clear runners to his inside. The explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

DOWNLOADING – Cast the off fore plate in running.
