From Doomben Meeting Saturday 10 August 2019 – Race 9
 
App  M. Murphy (SKY LAKE) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 150m he allowed his mount to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of DEFENCE MISSILE, resulting in that runner having to be checked and lose its rightful position. App Murphy’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of ten (10) days to commence midnight 17 August 2019 and expire midnight 27 August 2019.
 
Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO Benchmark 65 Handicap – 1350m
 
DUCHESS OF ROSE – Passing the 1200m had to be steadied away from the heels of TARIRO, which shifted in. Rounding the home turn was held up and raced in restricted room to the inside of TARIRO, which laid in. Passing the 300m when attempting to come to the outside of SUGAR ZONE to obtain clear running was inclined to lay in and then shifted back to the inside to obtain clear running.  
 
SPLENDARAMA – Bumped on the hind quarters by DUCHESS OF ROSE and became unbalanced passing the 1200m and then shortly afterwards commenced to overrace when being restrained in a trailing position. Passing the 800m had to be steadied away from the heels of TARIRO. Approaching the 600m shifted three wide to improve.  
 
SUGAR ZONE – When placed under pressure in the home straight raced greenly and laid out.
Race 2: Smirnoff Class 5 Handicap – 1660m
 
As J. Orman was overweight Stewards permitted J. Byrne to be substituted as the rider of VAULTING AMBITION. Jockey Orman was fined $200.
 
CHAR CHAR – Began awkwardly. Passing the 900m brushed the running rail and then shifted out bumping COURAGEOUS ROCK.
 
VAULTING AMBITION – Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Inclined to lay in over the final 200m.
 
CORMAC – Bumped on jumping and shortly afterwards was inconvenienced by CHAR CHAR, which laid in.
 
MY SONG – Passing the 1300m had to be steadied away from the heels of CHAR CHAR, which shifted in. Jockey M. Du Plessis (CHAR CHAR) was advised to show greater care when crossing runners to his inside in similar circumstances.
 
COURAGEOUS ROCK – Bumped by CHAR CHAR passing the 900m.
 
KOPELLA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 3: Bundaberg Rum Maiden Plate – 1660m
 
SWING SHIFT – Began awkwardly and was bumped. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages until obtaining cover passing the 1000m. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m placing its rider at some disadvantage.
 
COMBATIVITE – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 1300m after being crossed by CLASSIC PEARL commenced to overrace and had to be steadied away from heels and shifted out. Approaching the 200m improved onto heels and had some difficulty obtaining clear running before shifting back to the inside to obtain clear running passing the 150m.
 
LILIERO – Slow to begin.
 
FAST EVA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
LUVDISC – Overraced in the early and middle stages when in a trailing position. Approaching the 700m attempted to shift out to improve and made heavy contact with SWING SHIFT and was forced back in and awkwardly placed at the heels of PRUNDA. Approaching the 300m was held up for clear running and had to be manoeuvered wider on the course to obtain clear running passing the 150m.  
 
PRUNDA – Passing the 200m raced in restricted room to the inside of COMBATIVITE and was bumped and became unbalanced.
 
Race 4: Tanqueray Maiden Handicap – 1350m
 
DENCH – After arriving at the barriers had to have its saddle refitted.
TOP ME UP AGAIN – Reared slightly as the start was effected and lost ground. Passing the 700m was bumped by HAFU and became unbalanced. After passing the 300m when placed under pressure was inclined to lay in.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – Began awkwardly and bumped with L’AMANTE. After passing the 1100m commenced to overrace and got its head up when being restrained from heels. Passing the 800m had to be steadied away from heels and shifted out.
 
L’AMANTE – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
HAFU – Bumped on jumping. Approaching the 700m improved to the inside of the heels of SMOOTH MOVE, which laid in slightly and in doing so was forced in and made heavy contact with TOP ME UP AGAIN.
 
DREAM PIECE – Began very awkwardly and shifted out bumping HAFU. Raced three wide with cover and was inclined to lay out throughout.
 
CHRISTMAS CREEK – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
STONEFISH – Approaching the 300m was disappointed for a run, then held up for clear running and again was disappointed passing the 200m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
SO STUNNING – Steadied away from the heels of EXPRESS FANTASY approaching the 100m.
 
 
Race 5: Captain Morgan Class 2 Handicap – 1110m
 
SUCCESSOR – Began awkwardly.
 
JUSTIFY – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 700m had to be steadied away from the heels of SUCCESSOR and in doing so shifted out and bumped VILLENEUVE LADY. Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m shifted out under pressure.
 
WATCHMEN – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
VILLENEUVE LADY – Hampered between runners on jumping. Bumped by JUSTIFY passing the 700m.
 
SHE ZA BOSS – Hampered between runners on jumping. Approaching the 900m was buffeted between SKINS to its inside and WOWSERS to its outside, which shifted in when overracing.
 
WOWSERS – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping the hind quarters of FRANGIPANI MOON. After passing the 1000m when being restrained to obtain cover commenced to overrace and shifted in. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
FRANGIPANI MOON – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide with cover throughout. After passing the 300m laid in when placed under pressure. Approaching the 50m was bumped heavily by SKINS, which shifted out.
 
SKINS – Approaching the 800m overraced and got its head up when being restrained. Held up rounding the home turn and was unable to secure clear running until approaching the 200m. After passing the 200m shifted out when placed under pressure. Approaching the 50m bumped heavily with FRANGIPANI MOON.
 
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED – Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 150m.
 
DREAMTIMER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
IMA TEAMBOY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: Gordons Premium Pink Open Handicap – 1200m
 
DAZZLING RED – Shifted in shortly after the start and was bumped on the hind quarters by GET OUTA UTAH.
 
GET OUTA UTAH – Shortly after the start was bumped by DAZZLING RED and lost ground.
 
MONACO PLAYBOY – Began awkwardly blundered and lost ground. After passing the 900m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Continued to overrace and shifted three wide passing the 700m and then raced without cover from that point on.
 
TAILLEVENT – Passing the 800m commenced to overrace and got its head up and proved difficult to be restrained.

Race 7: Johnnie Walker Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
 
MISS AMBER– Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of rider R. Fradd for the mare.
 
After arriving at the barriers both CONNOISSEUR and ZOUCARA had to be resaddled.
 
ZOUCARA – Slow to begin.
 
CONNOISSEUR – Approaching the 1100m was bumped and raced in restricted room to the outside of ZOUCARA and to the inside of RIVER FLYER, which was attempting to shift in to obtain cover.
 
Race 8: BRC Spring Racing Carnival Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1350m
 
NAPOLEON’S WAR – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KARAKABEEL – Bumped on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
JOYMAKER – Began awkwardly, made contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
 
MISHANI PHOENIX – After being caught wide in a midfield position in the early stages was allowed to stride forward in an attempt to obtain a position closer to the rail but after passing the 900m was unable to do so and raced three wide without cover from that point on.
