CUNARD – Bumped on jumping, shifted in and made contact with QUEEN OF EMERALDS. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages when leading.

SOLDIERS – As the gelding had not started for more than 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, which cleared the horse to race. Threw its head in the air when being restrained passing the 900m. Accidentally struck by the whip of M. Cahill (COULDN’T REFUSE) when racing in close proximity passing the 100m.

TOP ME UP – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with CUNARD.

QUEEN OF EMERALDS – Slow to begin, then bumped heavily and lost significant ground.

COULDN’T REFUSE – Rider M. Cahill’s whip became momentarily entangled with the whip arm of D. Griffin (SOLDIERS) when racing in close proximity passing the 100m.

Race 2: QLD COUNCIL OF UNIONS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

FLAMING BOSS – Began awkwardly and bumped GROLNA. Raced three wide without cover until the 600m.

INVINCIBLE FAITH – Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with ATLANTIC KING.

ALDERMAN – Crowded for room after passing the 600m by ELITE GREY, which laid in, and then shortly after, when crossed by that runner, had to be steadied away from its heels.

ATLANTIC KING – Proved difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer M. Dunn was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding for its barrier manners. Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide throughout.

RAJO MISS – Raced three wide with cover.

REZABELLE – Commenced to overrace after passing the 800m. Improved on to the heels of ALDERMAN approaching the 600m and had to be restrained. Again had to be restrained from the heels of ALDERMAN passing the 500m. Held up for clear running from approaching the 400m until approaching the 250m. Had to be steadied off heels and alter course passing the 100m.

ELITE GREY – After beginning well and racing outside the leader, commenced to overrace and proved difficult to restrain. Laid in despite the efforts of its rider approaching the 600m, briefly tightening the running of ALDERMAN, which was racing to its inside. Weakened in the home straight. Rider B. Appo accidentally dropped his whip passing the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GROLNA – As the mare had not started for more than 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, which cleared the horse to race. Bumped on jumping by FLAMING BOSS. Raced in a rearward position and raced greenly throughout the event.
