Race 2: SUMMER RACING CARNIVAL QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage apprentice S. Thornton, the rider of ROTHENBURG, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against SCOUT being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, it was established that approaching the 250m ROTHENBURG had secured and improved into a clear run between JET A ONE and SCOUT, however, shortly after, JET A ONE, which was commencing to weaken, shifted out approximately half a horse, resulting in ROTHENBURG being carried out on to the hind quarter of SCOUT, which in turn was turned inwards. In this incident jockey R. Maloney, the rider of SCOUT, had his horse’s head turned inwards slightly in an endeavour to hold his ground. As stewards were of the view that the initial shift was from JET A ONE in shifting out and therefore a contributing factor to the severe crowding to ROTHENBURG, they were of the view that the objection ought be dismissed and correct weight declared on the Judge’s placings. However, R. Maloney was advised to be mindful of his actions in regards to riding competitively.

Lost the off fore plate in running.

After taking evidence from both riders and viewing the videos, apprentice Keal pleaded guilty to a charge of improper riding under AR131(a) in that after the finish, when passing the crossing near the 1600m and knowing that ROMAKASH was to his inside, he directed his mount inwards, thereby crowding ROMAKASH, which had to check severely.
