Race 1: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
GRANNUS – When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, apprentice J. Huxtable explained that the colt did not feel comfortable in its action during the race and he was of the view that it could be shin sore. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be shin sore. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the colt will require a veterinary clearance or would be ineligible to race for 6 weeks.
 
SIZZLING RIVER – Overraced in the early stages.
 
KHANJAR – Held up in the early part of the home straight and was inclined to lay in and near the 200m altered course to the outside of PATTY’S FORTUNE in order to improve.
 
MISHANI QUEEN – Trainer L. Ross advised that the horse would be ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. Commenced to hang out despite the efforts of its rider from the 900m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event and made the home turn extremely wide. A post-race veterinary examination found the filly to be exhibiting sores in the mouth and also on its back. Mr Ross was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance and must trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.
 
PAPAYA – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
PATTY’S FORTUNE – Trainer L. Ross advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden back in the field. Became fractious in the parade ring, reared and momentarily slipped, examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and was cleared to race. Overraced when racing wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward outside the leader by the 900m.
 
SIENNA’S CHOICE – Inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: MEMBERSHIPS @ BRC MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
STANDING BEAR – Raced very fiercely in the early stages and near the 900m threw its head and lost ground. Continued to overrace in the middle stages and passing the 600m made heavy contact with the running rail. Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until approaching the 100m.
 
ENCIEH – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SAKE OF ONE – Trainer B. Lockwood advised that the horse would race in a rearward position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Restrained at the start from the outside barrier to settle at the rear of the field. Had to restrain from the heels of STANDING BEAR near the 900m when that runner was racing fiercely.
 
Race 3: TAB MAIDEN H'CAP – 1600M
 
ELGIN – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden in a rearward position. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced fiercely at the rear of the field during the middle stages. Rider A. Mallyon dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
 
IMMERSION – Shifted out and made contact with DACKARNA at the start. Raced three wide throughout. Bumped heavily on the hindquarters after passing the 1000m.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Hampered soon after the start when tightened for room.
 
RED VEGAS – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
GRAND SHANGHAI – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
HICKSON – Raced wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to race outside the leader near the 1250m. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, N. Tomizawa was of the opinion that the gelding did not run out a strong 1600m.
 
GALAXIES PRIDE – Had to be eased near the 150m when tightened for room between ELGIN and GRAND SHANGHAI, which shifted out when placed under pressure. D. Smith, the rider of GRAND SHANGHAI, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
 
BEANS ‘N’ RICE – Trainer P. Gardner was questioned about the horse’s improved performance as compared to its most recent starts. He said that at its two previous starts this preparation the mare has jarred up and not raced well for that reason. He added that the mare had worked well leading up to today’s race and he was confident of a forward showing. His explanation was noted.

DACKARNA – Bumped by IMMERSION at the start.
 
REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Had to be checked soon after the start when tightened for room. Commenced to overrace after passing the 1000m and when restrained from the heels of GRAND BARRAIL shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of IMMERSION. Had to be checked approaching the 800m when overracing and racing in restricted room between SAN BERNARDINO and IMMERSION, which shifted in slightly. R. Maloney, the rider of IMMERSION, was reminded to allow his fellow riders safe racing room in the future.
 
SAN BERNARDINO – Held up rounding the home turn when awkwardly placed at the heels of DACKARNA.
 
Race 4: KIRIN BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 2200M
 
RUBY GURU – The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the mare had sustained a contusion to the inside of the near hind leg.
 
ROMAKASH – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
NIATROSS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
THE POTATO PONTIFF – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 5: BRC EVENTS QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350M
 
BADOOSH – Restrained from the outside barrier at the start and went back to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
I AM COURAGE – Slow to begin.
 
INGEAR – Had to be restrained near the 800m when racing in restricted room between RED BLOOM and ZIGALLENE. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RED BLOOM – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HONEY BABY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SIZZLING  BABE – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace near the 900m, had to be restrained from the heels of I AM COURAGE and shifted out. Apprentice Z. White was reminded of her obligations regarding use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
PARLANDE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1050M
 
LET’S PARTY MARTY – As R. Plumb was not riding due to illness, J. Orman was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Raced three wide with cover.
 
L’AMANTE – As M. Palmer was not riding due to illness, N. Day was substituted as the rider of the mare.
 
SHE’S SPICY – Raced three wide without cover. R. Maloney was fined $300 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over the horse’s allotted weight.
 
LOGAN’S BLADE – Raced three wide with cover.
 
MOSARBE – Jumped awkwardly and had to be restrained from the heels of EMERALD KINGDOM soon after the start. Trailed the field until passing the 600m before being eased down and retired from the race near the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained a major injury to its near fore tendon. Trainer A. Sawden was advised tat the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Race 7: BRC ROYAL ASCOT TOUR BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1200M
 
MR MARKOU – Slow to begin.
 
GOODONYA SONJA – Held up in the home straight until near the 150m.
 
BORN BAD – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
WINTER PASSAGE – Held up in the early part of the home straight until near the 300m.
 
OUR TOP SHELF – Had to be checked when overracing near the 800m to avoid the heels of BORN BAD, which shifted in slightly. After issuing a charge of carless riding against R. Stewart, the rider of BORN BAD, hearing his submissions, taking further evidence from jockey M. Du Plessis, the rider of OUR TOP SHELF, and re-viewing the available video footage, stewards were of the opinion that the charge could not be established to the requisite standard and therefore elected not to proceed further. Held up in the home straight until shifted wider to the outside of FOXPACK in order to improve.
 
FOXPACK – Raced four wide with cover.
 
Race 8: LUNAR NEW YEAR RACEDAY CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1350M
 
BELLARIA – Raced wide throughout. A. Mallyon reported that he was disappointed in the finishing effort of the mare today and he advised that it may have come to the end of its current preparation and it was the intention of connections to freshen the horse up. Mr Eggleston, representing trainer K. Lees, confirmed the intentions.
 
SPANISH HURRICANE – Restrained at the start from a wide gate to the rear of the field.
 
SMART AS ATTACK – Raced three wide without cover.
 
BURBANK – Slow to begin.
