TEXAS TRAMP – Raced greenly throughout the event and in the home straight shifted ground on a number of occasions obliging its rider to stop riding and correct his mount.

WHO SAID SO – Bumped on jumping. Laid out when placed under pressure over the final 250m.

STONEFISH – Began awkwardly and bumped with WHO SAID SO.

THE GOOD THE BAD – Held up rounding the home turn.

Race 2: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1650M

As L. Tilley was not riding due to personal reasons, J. Orman was substituted as the rider of SIENNA’S CHOICE.

MT MORT SHARK – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 600m, when attempting to improve to the inside of AMORE PRIMUS, which was improving to the outside, was disappointed and unable to do so and was held up on the heels of STOCKED AND LOADED, which also shifted out to improve, and then was slightly hampered when bumping the hind quarters of AMORE PRIMUS.

ALWAYS BACK JACK – Slow to begin. Laid in in the early stages and commenced to overrace passing the 1400m and continued to overrace for the majority of the event and proved difficult to restrain. Jockey Harrison advised stewards that she recommended to connections that they contemplate removing the blinkers for its future starts.

TERRAJOHNA – Passing the 150m had to be eased when crowded for room by STELLAR, which was taken in by MISHANI QUEEN, which laid in before being corrected by its rider.

AMORE PRIMUS – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. When asked to explain the tactics adopted, A. Spinks stated his intentions were to be in a forward position as per the horse’s most recent run, however, after being caught wide in the early stages and unable to cross runners to his inside, he elected to restrain to obtain a position closer to the rail.

SIENNA’S CHOICE – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the lead near the 1100m.

MISHANI QUEEN – Began awkwardly.

Race 3: BRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

PRICKLY TICK – Commenced to race keenly passing the 900m and approaching the 700m had to be steadied away from the heels of TAYELLA.

BEAUETA – Bumped on jumping. Disappointed for a run approaching the 150m to the outside of FLEUR DE JOUR and to the inside of MY BOY SOOTY, which laid in despite the efforts of its rider, had to be eased and shift wider on the course in order to improve and again was awkwardly placed at the heels of PRICKLY TICK and went to the line without being fully tested.

FLEUR DE JOUR – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

STYK AT IT – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 100m, when attempting to improve between CRAYON and FLEUR DE JOUR, was disappointed and had to be eased.

TAYELLA – Raced three wide with cover. Laid in over the final 100m. When asked to explain the tactics adopted, R. Fradd stated that it was his intention, if possible, from the wide barrier to settle just off the speed with cover, however, after travelling a short distance he was caught three wide with cover. When asked whether there was an opportunity for him to restrain to find a position closer to the rail, he explained that he was not able to restrain and was obliged to race three wide. He added that when asked for an effort the mare responded for a short distance, however proved slightly disappointing in the run to the line.

CRAYON – Had to be eased over the final stages and was unable to be ridden to the line when it improved on to the heels of GAELIC PUZZLE.

MY BOY SOOTY – Had to be steadied away from heels after passing the 800m. Momentarily hampered passing the 400m when racing in restricted room to the inside of FLEUR DE JOUR, which was taken in by TAYELLA. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m, placing the rider at some disadvantage.

Race 4: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1650M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, R. Maloney, rider, and trainer D. Vandkye, trainer of 2nd placegetter BERING SEA, lodged an objection against SAYL being declared the winner, alleging interference approaching the 250m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, it was established that approaching the 250m SAYL improved to the inside of BERING SEA and shifted out, brushing that runner, which was slightly hampered. As stewards could not be satisfied that the extent of the interference to BERING SEA was greater than the margin separating both runners at the finish, they dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings. Jockey Maloney and trainer D. Vandyke were advised that the protest was bordering on frivolous and that in future they should have more cogent grounds when lodging an objection.

The start of this race was delayed when BRADBURY, which cast its near fore plate en route to the barriers, was replated behind the barriers and cleared to take its place in the field.

BERING SEA – After being caught three wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 900m. Brushed by SAYL approaching the 250m when that runner shifted out to improve.

BRADBURY – Bumped shortly after the start by SAYL and became unbalanced. Hampered approaching the 200m and raced in restricted room between JOCHBERG and BERING SEA, which was taken out by SAYL.

JOCHBERG – Crowded for room approaching the 200m between TOP ME UP AGAIN and BRADBURY, which was shifted out by BERING SEA, which was forced out by SAYL. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had a small laceration to the near foreleg.

TOP ME UP AGAIN – Raced keenly when in a trailing position in the early stages.

Race 5: EVA AIR CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1050M

HIDDEN EYES – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Lost the off hind plate during the event.

DECISIVE HEART – Sprawled as the start was effected. Bumped on the hind quarters by FLYING FROG passing the 900m and became unbalanced. Held up rounding the home turn and was then disappointed for a run to the inside of THE BUMBLEBEE after passing the 300m before securing clear running near the 150m. R. Fradd reported that his saddle shifted marginally forward after passing the 900m, placing him at some disadvantage. When asked to explain the tactics adopted, jockey Fradd explained that shortly after the start he was hoping to be in a position behind the two leaders, THE BUMBLEBEE and INVINCIBLE GANGSTA, however when easing to obtain that position, jockey Sewell (THE BUMBLEBEE), who was forward of him, then elected to ease his mount and allow INVINCIBLE GANGSTA to cross him passing the 800m, which put DECISIVE HEART further back than he would have liked. He added that approaching the home turn, when endeavouring to shift away from the fence to improve, he was momentarily held up behind FLYING FROG and was unable to shift wider on the course as BUFFY had improved to his outside and therefore he rode for luck after being disappointed for a run initially. He was of the opinion that the mare secured clear running early enough to produce a finishing effort, however, even though it made some ground over the concluding stages he felt it was given every opportunity. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MAGIC LAD – Commenced to race keenly after passing the 800m and near the 700m improved on to the heels of DECISIVE HEART, clipped that runner’s heels, blundered and lost ground.

THE BUMBLEBEE – Brushed the running rail of its own accord passing the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn.

FLYING FROG – Buffeted near the 900m on a number of occasions between HIDDEN EYES and DECISIVE HEART, which laid out.

Race 6: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1200M

HEARTS LIFTED was a late scratching at 7:40 am for veterinary reasons after being found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer M. Costa was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY – Blundered on jumping.

BELLE’S PLUCK – Bumped shortly after the start. Commenced to overrace after passing the 1000m and proved difficult to restrain, and passing the 900m had to be shifted out away from the heels of IN GREAT NIC.

IN GREAT NIC – Slightly hampered after passing the 200m between BELLE’S PLUCK and GINGER ROCK, which shifted out to improve.

Race 7: MOUNT FRANKLIN CLASS 1 PLATE – 1350M

DOLLAREUO – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained a small laceration to the off hind cannon consistent with being galloped on.

STILL INVINCIBLE – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace after passing the 1100m and near the 900m had to be steadied away from the heels of QUOTANT. After being asked to quicken by its rider rounding the home turn, failed to respond and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery.

CHAMPAGNE JET – Slow into stride. Had to be eased approaching the 1200m when crowded for room by TRUMPED UP, which shifted in when overracing. Lost the off fore plate in running.

MISS ALLE BE – Improved on to heels approaching the 200m and was unable to secure clear running until shifting wider on the course approaching the 50m and went to the line without being fully tested.

QUOTANT – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before pressing forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 800m.

TRUMPED UP – Commenced to race keenly after passing the 1200m and had to be restrained from the heels of FAY CONQUERS ALL.

Race 8: ALCYONE HOTEL & RESIDENCE BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1350M

ARTERIAL – Laid in after passing the 600m, crowding GALAPAGOS.

GALAPAGOS – Crowded after passing the 600m.

NO REFUND – Fractious leaving the enclosure en route to the barriers.

SUILVEN – M. Murphy was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, which is one more than permitted.
