Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
AHOOSHU – Near the 200 metres shifted out under hard riding.
 
MILITARY GAMBLER – Hampered near the 200 metres when AHOOSHU shifted out.
 
MISTER LARRABEE – As R Maloney was delayed due to transport difficulties Stewards permitted L Dittman to ride the colt. Slow to begin. Over-raced for a short distance near the 800 metres. Raced greenly and laid in the home straight.
 
ZEEBLING – Trainer R Heathcote was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on that filly. Began awkwardly. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
 
 
Race 2: RICHARD BARRIE GREENUP OAM MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap
2020 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes when the barriers needed to be replaced following a mechanical breakdown.
 
ALWARD (IRE) – Stable advised intentions would be for the gelding to be ridden more positive from the start.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Saddle was re-adjusted on arrival at the barriers.
 
LOVEISILI (GB) – Began to tire approaching the home turn. Rider M Du Plessis reported he desisted from applying pressure to the gelding a short distance later as was of the opinion something may be amiss with LOVEISILI.  A post-race veterinary examination of LOVEISILI revealed no abnormalities. Trainer representative for K Lees, Mr M Eggleston, reported it was the intention of the stable to have the gelding scoped and undergo a full veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
SEAT OF POWER – Trainer G Duncan advised intentions were to race forward with cover. After being caught wide in the early stages progressed forward to lead the event from the 1300 metres.
 
MORENDI – After being caught wide in the early stages of the event progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 1000 metres.
 
Race 3: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW BENCHMARK 90
Handicap 1615 metres
 
CLOAK – Caught three wide in the early stages before its rider elected to progress forward and race outside the leader from the 800 metres.
 
SEEINGISBELIEVING – Jumped in at the start.
 
FOREIGN TERRITORY (NZ) – Jumped out at the start. Pulled hard in the middle stages of the event. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
ABERLADY – Crowded between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
 
Race 4:  QLD GUINEAS DAY 1 MAY BENCHMARK 78 Handicap
1200 metres
 
PAPA JO – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
MOLLY'S ROCKING – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
AMICHE – Near 100 metres shifted out under hard riding before being corrected by its rider.
 
 
 
Race 5: DOOMBEN 10,000 DAY 15 MAY BENCHMARK 72 Handicap
1615 metres
 
Track was upgraded to a Soft 5 after Race 4.
 
SENRIMA TIDE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Approaching the 600 metres taken wider on the track when MOSSHIKI shifted out to improve.
 
COASTAL PRINCE – When queried regarding tactics adopted, rider R Maloney stated the gelding settled comfortably in a forward position as per instructions. He added he attempted to improve to the inside of MOSSHIKI near the 600 metres, however it failed to respond as expected and was forced back into a trailing position. R Maloney further added COASTAL PRINCE travelled fairly approaching the turn and then became held up for a short distance and proved disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainers representative Mr P Shailer indicated the stable would continue with the gelding’s current preparation.
 
HALLOWED GIRL – From wide draw restrained at the start to rearward position closer to the rail.
 
EXPRESS PRINCESS (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to race outside the leader approaching the 800 metres.
 
MOSSHIKI – Slow to begin.
 
LOVE YERS ALL – Rider A Mallyon reported the mare raced keenly in the early stages and did not appreciate the step up in distance of today’s event. Lost the off fore plate in running. Trainer L Hatch advised Stewards he would report any condition which may come to light in the coming days.
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
Race 6: DOOMBEN CUP DAY 22 MAY QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap
1615 metres
 
TUMBLER RIDGE – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
ABRACADAZZLE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LINTHORPE LAD – Pulled hard in the early stages of the event.
 
CALM SEEKER (NZ) – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the early stages of the event.
 
CRIMINAL DEFENCE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
NICCI'S SPIRIT – Near the 1300 meters steadied from the heels of KASEAR when over-racing and continued to do so for some distance. When asked to comment on the filly’s performance rider R Fradd stated after beginning slowly he elected from the wide draw to restrain to obtain cover as NICCI’S SPIRIT was stepping up in distance. R Fradd further added the filly pulled very hard which in his opinion had a detrimental effect on its performance adding he felt it would be better served dropping back in distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KASEAR – Bumped on jumping. Became awkwardly placed at the heels of COSMIC GOSSIP near the 1300 metres and had to be steadied. R Maloney, rider of COSMIC GOSSIP, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
BEG ME – Slow to begin.
 
GULLFOSS – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
Race 7: DERBY DAY 29 MAY 3YO QUALITY HANDICAP 1050 metres
 
SIMPLY FLY – Put in an awkward stride near the 800 metres.
 
SUPERARE – Jumped in at the start bumping BALLISTIC LOVER.
 
BALLISTIC LOVER – Bumped at the start. Baulked at a shadow and put in an awkward stride approaching the winning post.
 
BLEU ZEBRA – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
XERRI – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
 
 
 
Race 8: OAKS DAY 5 JUNE OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
 
CAPITAL CONNECTION – Rider R Maloney returned to scale overweight and was fined $300 pursuant to AR211.
 
ROYAL WITNESS – Slow to begin.

Race 9: STRADBROKE DAY 12 JUNE Class 6 Plate 1350 metres
 
ROYAL HALE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
GUNTANTES – Steadied from heels near the 1000 metres. Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
GEM OF SCOTLAND – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event. Forced wider near the 500 metres when XANTHUS shifted out to improve.
 
KEDAH (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
ARTHUR IN CHARGE – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
WONDERFUL RIRI – Slow to begin.
 
CELLARMAID – From the wide barrier was restrained to a rearward position closer to the rail. Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
GINGER ROCK – Bumped on the hindquarters near the 300 metres when ACCESSION shifted out.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Raced keenly in restricted room near the 1200 metres.
