Race 1: WINNING EDGE PRESENTATION CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M
 
IRON CRAFT – Inclined to lay outwards throughout.
 
MIGHTY MITTERE – Bumped with NOTONYA NELLY on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
COUNTESS MIA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
NOTONYA NELLY – Bumped with MIGHTY MITTERE on jumping.
 
SHE’S SPICY – Jumped away awkwardly. R. Maloney was of the view that the horse may have got its tongue over the bit during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had a slightly elevated heart rate. Trainer M. Dunn advised that he will apply a tongue tie to the horse at its next start.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 2: FUNCTIONS@TATTERSALL’S QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1500M
 
STAR OF MICHELIN – Shortly after the start became unbalanced after jumping a shadow on the track and thereafter proved difficult to settle for a short distance. Mis-strode near the 100m.
 
KNIGHT MARINER – Slow into stride after jumping away awkwardly. Bumped with KIM ALICIA making the turn into the straight.
 
EFFEXX – Slow to begin.
 
KIM ALICIA – Bumped with KNIGHT MARINER making the turn into the straight.
 
SPURIOUS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SUMMER SALT – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
GOBSMACKED – Raced four wide in the early stages before racing three wide with cover.
 
ALLO ALLO – Bumped and carried slightly wider near the 700m when KNIGHT MARINER shifted outwards from the heels of EFFEXX.
 
VIOLET – Slow to begin. Held up and unable to improve from the 500m until the 300m.
 
Race 3: DES LAMBART MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 2200M
 
OUR MANTRA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
ROMAKASH – Laid inwards in the early stages. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid inwards in the straight.
 
NO MONEY NO HONEY – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the hind quarters of SAVVY ROCK.
 
OCEAN ADDICT – Slow to begin and was then crowded between ROMAKASH and POLLINATOR, which was carried outwards slightly by OUR MANTRA.
 
SAVVY ROCK – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping.
 
Race 4: STELLA ARTOIS BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1000M
 
UNLIKELY STORY – Slow to begin.
 
ONE STRYKE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ARGENT D’OR – Slow into stride.
 
STELLAR POWER – The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had bled from the nearside nostril. Connections were advised that prior to racing again the horse would be required to gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
Race 5: G.H. MUMM QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1000M
 
As S. Cormack, who had ridden at the Gold Coast, failed to arrive on course in time, D. Smith was substituted as the rider of SPOT ON SPUD.
 
GYPSY TOFF – Bumped with DESIGNER MAID on jumping.
 
LADY HORSEOWNER – Slow to begin after jumping awkwardly. Eased near the 650m when tightened to the inside of HOLLABACK GIRL, which shifted inwards slightly.
 
DESIGNER MAID – Bumped with GYPSY TOFF on jumping and then shifted outwards and made contact with KITTY DAMOUR. Laid outwards making the turn into the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
THE GREAT BOOMBINO – Raced wide throughout.
 
JULE’S SPIRIT – Hung outwards in the straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage, and over the concluding stages had to be steadied on a couple of occasions when awkwardly placed on the heels of EPIC GIRL, which laid inwards slightly.
 
SPOT ON SPUD – Slow into stride. Near the 700m eased off the heels of LADY HORSEOWNER, which rolled inwards.
 
KITTY DAMOUR – Bumped at the start.
 
Race 6: LAZY YAK CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1400M
 
OINK – Raced three wide throughout.
 
LUCKY PROSPECTOR – Got its head up on a number of occasions whilst racing keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Slow to begin.
 
AKAGE – Slow to begin. Proved very difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 7: TRIPLE M’S BIG BREAKFAST QUEENSLAND CUP – 3200M
 
Stewards questioned trainer P. Jenkins regarding TRAVISTEE not being on course by the prescribed time. Mr Jenkins advised that the driver of the horse float had made an unexpected detour to the infield stabling precinct, which resulted in the horse being slightly delayed arriving at the tie-up stalls. After confirming the matter with the livestock carrier, stewards took no further action.
 
SAMPSON – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
 
SAUNTER BOY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
AZURO – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
DOUKHAN – Crowded for room near the 1500m and taken inwards.
 
SOCIAL ELEMENT – Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 1500m. M. McGillivray, the rider of AZURO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that at that point he provided insufficient room when he allowed his mount to shift in when not fully clear of DOUKHAN, which was crowded for room and taken inwards, tightening SOCIAL ELEMENT. Jockey McGillivray’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, commencing midnight Tuesday 6 August, being the expiration of existing penalties, and expiring midnight Saturday 17 August 2019.
 
Race 8: SKY RACING TATTERSALL’S MILE – 1600M
 
P. Shailer, stable representative for trainer C. Waller, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR232(b) of failing to comply with a stewards’ direction that Mr Waller’s runners in this event, TORGERSEN and ARAAJA, be presented on course 3 hours prior to the starting time of the race. Mr Shailer was fined $1000, with $500 suspended for a period of 12 months provided he does not breach the same rule again.
 
Trainer T. Edmonds, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR232(b) of failing to comply with a stewards’ direction to present AWAKE THE STARS on course 3 hours prior to the starting time of the race. Mr Edmonds was fined $1000, with $500 suspended for a period of 12 months provided he does not breach the same rule again.
 
PRIORITISE – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SILVERA – Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
FIT FOR PURPOSE – Slow to begin.
 
ARAAJA – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 9: TRIPLE M’S GREG MARTIN QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1600M
 
PLUMARO – Slow to begin.
 
RED CHASE – Hung outwards from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings other than that the gelding was exhibiting some slight post-race distress.
 
PLITVICE – Hung outwards from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer C. Anderson was advised that the gelding would be required to trial prior to racing again.
 
TREVELYAN – Had difficulty obtaining clear running making the turn into the straight.
 
YAMAZAKI – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ULTIMATE RING – Disappointed for clear running near the 200m.
 
RED STINA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 400m and the 200m.
 
MUSICAL BLUES – Proved very difficult to settle in the early stages.
