WONDER BOOM – Overraced badly in the early and middle stages. Trainer P. Butterworth explained that the horse has had a few hard runs at recent starts and may have come to the end of its current preparation and it would now be his intention to send the horse for a spell. Mr Butterworth was reprimanded for leaving the course prior to the permitted time.

RULING DYNASTY – Near the 100m had to steady from heels and shift to the outside of WONDER BOOM in order to improve.

SOVEREIGN NATION – Stewards questioned App B. Nothdurft regarding the riding tactics he adopted in the early stages where from the outside barrier he rode forward and led the race, which is in contrast to the horse’s most recent racing pattern. App Nothdurft explained that SOVEREIGN NATION has a tendency to be slow to begin and for this reason he rode with some vigour early. App Nothdurft added that when the horse began well and showed early speed rather than be caught in a midfield position wide he elected to stride forward to take the lead when runners to his inside did not show an intention to hold that position. Trainer M. Dunn confirmed that it was not the pre-race intention to lead the race but rather be more positive and take up a midfield position if possible. Stewards accepted the explanation of both parties.

App B. Nothdurft (FREDDIE FOX TROT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that passing the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out when not fully clear of SO SPIRITED, which contributed to that runner having to be checked. App Nothdurft’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) days to commence midnight 3 August 2019 and expire midnight 9 August 2019.

Jockey T. Harrison (NEW HORIZONS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she permitted mount to shift in approaching the 100m when not clear of SO SPIRITED, which resulted in her contributing to that runner having to be checked. Jockey Orman’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 4 August 2019 and expire midnight 11 August 2019. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Orman’s good record.

MAGIC FOX – For some distance after passing the 800m commenced to pull hard on the heels of HOLD THE LINE, which resulted in MITTERE having to restrain to avoid the heels of MAGIC FOX.

DESERT DIGBY – Raced four wide from the 700m without cover.

CHURNING – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight and subsequently went to the line not fully tested.

HOLD THE LINE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
