GENERAL
 
After being stood down by stewards on Saturday, 7 September, for failing to provide samples, jockeys D. Smith and M. McGillivray were permitted to resume riding in races, trials and track work following the receipt of results on Friday, 20 September, indicating that samples provided by them on Sunday, 8 September, were clear of prohibited substances.
 
As R. Maloney was to be overweight in Races 2 and 3, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. At a subsequent inquiry jockey Maloney pleaded guilty to a charge under AR190(3) of accepting rides when overweight. Jockey Maloney was fined $1000 and his licence to ride in races was suspended for 5 days, commencing midnight Sunday, 29 September, and expiring midnight Friday, 4 October 2019. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Maloney’s recent frequent infringements of this rule.
 
As apprentice B. Nothdurft was not riding due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: TAB F&M BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP – 1200M
 
ROSIE POSIE – Bumped with TYCOON STREET on jumping.
 
SMUG SATISFACTION – Near the 700m, whilst racing keenly, was steadied off the heels of JAY JAY D’AR, which shifted in. M. Cahill, the rider of JAY JAY D’AR, was advised to provide sufficient clearance when crossing.
 
TYCOON STREET – Bumped with ROSIE POSIE on jumping. Laid inwards in the early part of the straight.
 
Race 2: CASCADE BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 2200M
 
MAKDANIFE – When questioned regarding the horse’s run today, jockey B. Stewart stated that the horse travelled well initially, however, when placed under pressure from the 700m failed to respond and disappointed. Trainer C. Waller’s stable representative, Mr P. Shailer, said the stable was extremely disappointed with the run and as such the gelding would now be spelled. Mr Shailer undertook to advise stewards should anything come to light post-race in regards to the gelding. Mr Shailer was advised that the gelding will be required to trial satisfactorily prior to resuming racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
OCEAN ADDICT – Slow to begin. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
VIHARI – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: DAVE HICKEY 30+ QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1600M
 
PROFIT – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that he was instructed to race in the second half of the field, however, after jumping well from a wide barrier and with no early pace he found himself in a forward position, thereby taking up the lead. He further advised that after that he elected to set a slow to moderate pace.
 
GUNTANTES – Got its head up when racing keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards in the straight.
 
DON’T WAIVER – Got its head up when racing keenly in the early stages.
 
STAR CENTRE – Commenced to pull hard with the slow pace near the 1200m and as a result had to be checked outwards after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of GUNTANTES and this resulted in DAWSON DELIGHT being carried outwards and RED BLOOM, which was following, having to be checked outwards away from the heels of DAWSON DELIGHT. As a result of this incident jockey R. Stewart dropped his whip.
 
RED BLOOM – Checked off the heels of DAWSON DELIGHT near the 1200m.
 
DAWSON DELIGHT – Carried wider near the 1200m. Steadied off the heels of STAR CENTRE near the 900m.
 
EPICURIOUS – Had to be steadied approaching the 1000m when racing tight to the inside of RED BLOOM, which rolled in.
 
Race 4: MOUNT FRANKLIN CLASS 3 PLATE – 1600M
 
ITALIA BELLA was a late scratching at 1:29 pm by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse had bled from the right nostril. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ITALIA BELLA be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 1:29 pm:

16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
13 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4
 
Connections were advised that prior to the horse racing again it must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward and the results of an endoscopic examination must be provided to stewards.
 
GREAT DANGER – Laid outwards over the final 250m.
 
SAY I CEE YOU – Got its head up whilst racing keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SPEAKING BAD – Slow into stride.
 
TATCEE- Slow into stride.
 
Race 5: JIM BEAM BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1000M
 
WIRNPA – Lost ground shortly after the start when crowded between JAGGED EDGE and HUGE ACTION. Had to be eased over the final 100m when racing in restricted room to the inside of OOSHE, which laid inwards.
 
BUCK BAY – Lost ground when crowded on jumping between HUGE ACTION, which jumped inwards, and WIRNPA, which was carried outwards by JAGGED EDGE.
 
JAGGED EDGE – Raced wide throughout.
 
PIZONIE – Blundered on jumping.
 
MOONAN JOYCE – Became unbalanced near the 300m when being bumped by HIGH COST, which was carried inwards by JAGGED EDGE.
 
OOSHE - Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.
 
Race 6: CANADIAN CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 – 75 H'CAP – 1835M
 
REALING – Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
TREVELYAN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
POLEMIC – Laid outwards over the final 200m.
 
AKAGE – Slow into stride.
 
MISS SHANTI – Slow into stride after jumping away awkwardly.
 
Race 7: COCA COLA NO METRO WINS H'CAP – 1400M
 
ENTERPRISE PRINCE – B. Stewart was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
MAIL ESCORT – Jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start made contact with PARK CHINOIS. Raced three wide without cover throughout. M. Cahill was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
PARK CHINOIS – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
LULU EXPRESS – Slow into stride after jumping away awkwardly. Apprentice J. Murphy reported that the mare failed to travel at any stage throughout the event and proved disappointing.
 
EXDREAM – R. Wiggins was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
KAHUNA – Apprentice T. Williams reported that her saddle slipped back shortly after the start.
 
Race 8: MAKERS MARK OPEN H'CAP – 1835M
 
EXECUTED, which dislodged apprentice T. Williams when leaving the enclosure then entered the course proper and galloped for a considerable distance, was declared a late scratching at 3:57 pm by order of stewards. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on EXECUTED be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:57 pm:

Connections were advised that in light of the horse’s pre-race manners it would be barred from competing at metropolitan meetings and would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
 
As a result of the delay awaiting the arrival of a replacement ambulance to transport apprentice T. Williams to hospital, the start of this race was rescheduled to 4:47 pm.
 
WINNING WAYS – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
MORTON’S FORK – Lost ground on jumping after being carried inwards by MAGNUFIGHTER and as a result made contact with WINNING WAYS.
 
LOOKS LIKE ELVIS – Raced wide from the 500m.
 
MORENDI – Buffeted on jumping.
 
Race 9: CASCADE C,G&E BENCHMARK 85 H'CAP – 1200M
 
As a result of the delayed starting time of Race 8, the start of this race was rescheduled to 5:30 pm.
