After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, J. Bayliss, the rider of SUKWHINDER, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against ENTERPRISE LOUISE being declared the winner, alleging interference in the straight. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that passing the 150m SUKWHINDER shifted in marginally before straightening shortly after, and ENTERPRISE LOUISE shifted out slightly, making contact with SUKWHINDER, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. After taking into account the manner in which both runners finished off the race and the margin of a long neck separating both horses at the finish, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had ENTERPRISE LOUISE not shifted ground SUKWHINDER would have won the race and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.

BLUE COMET – When questioned regarding the running and handling of the horse, jockey A. Mallyon stated that he was instructed not to get too far back, however after jumping away slightly awkwardly the gelding did not muster early speed and he found himself detached from the field. He also stated that he did not bustle the horse early as he did not want to over-exert the horse in order for it to hopefully finish off its race strongly. In addition, he advised that he gradually improved to the outside of LIMERICK MOON approaching the 500m, however, he was then momentarily inconvenienced when that gelding shifted out to improve. He then elected to go to the inside to improve as he did not want to be pushed too wide on the turn. When he commenced to place his mount under pressure from the 350m it responded and finished off the race well. He further stated that the gelding would be better suited over a longer journey at its future starts. Trainer N. Doyle advised the stewards that BLUE COMET had been nominated for a trial on Monday, however, due to being kicked it was scratched from the trial. He further advised he was unable to swim the horse in the ensuing days and although he believed the gelding to be fit for today’s run he felt that this may have contributed to BLUE COMET not showing early dash to maintain a closer position. Mr Doyle tendered betting tickets showing that he had supported the horse significantly in exotic bets. Whilst stewards noted their explanations, jockey Mallyon was advised not to ride in a manner that leaves him open to question. Mr Doyle was advised that should anything affect the preparation of his horses prior to running he should advise the stewards accordingly.

CHARMED PRINCESS – Crowded between MEWSTONE ROCK and A MAN TO MATCH over the concluding stages, had to be checked and lost ground. Apprentice B. Nothdurft, the rider of A MAN TO MATCH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift out under pressure whilst riding it along, causing the interference to CHARMED PRINCESS. Apprentice Nothdurft’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, commencing midnight Saturday 9 November and expiring midnight Thursday 21 November 2019.
