Race 1: TAB VENUE MODE Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
ZOUVILLA – In the home straight laid in.
 
BUSTEDUP – Rider J Stanley reported the gelding would be better suited on a track with more give, further added the gelding may benefit from the addition of a tongue tie.
 
GEORGIE'S PRIDE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BURNING SUCCESS – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages, when being restrained to gain cover near the 800m. Rider A Chau was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions, one more than permitted.
 
 
Race 2: HELLBENT FIRST CROP AT INGLIS CLASSIC QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1000 metres
 
FLAMING ASTEROID – Rider T Marshall was harmlessly dislodged in the mounting yard prior to the race.
 
IRING – Slow to begin. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
OUR HOT FRIEND – Rider M Rodd was harmlessly dislodged leaving the mounting yard prior to the race.
 
AVOLONTE – Laid out throughout the event.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
SPINNING SPIRIT – Fractious in the barriers. Performed below market expectations. Apprentice N Fazackerley reported that the mare raced flat and hung in in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore limb, trainer J Hanna was advised that a Veterinary clearance must be obtained prior to the mare racing or trialling.
 
SEA DRAGON – Inconvenienced at the start between ZOOFARI and GENERAL WITT which shifted out.
 
TOURMASTER – Rider M Rodd reported that the gelding laid in in the home straight and failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
GENERAL WITT – Began awkwardly.
 
TOUJOURS L'AMOUR – Underwent a pre-race examination at the start after kicking the rail leaving the mounting yard and was passed suitable to race.
 
 
Race 4: CASCADE Maiden Plate 1800 metres
 
ARJAYAR – When the pace steadied near the 1100m began to over race before shifting wider on the track and improve to obtain a position outside the lead near the 800m.
 
STOCKED AND LOADED – Slow to begin. Hung in in the home straight and shifted in near the 350m before being straightened.
 
FAIRY DELL – Tactics queried, in particular the reason rider N Thomas continued to restrain his mount after leading in the early stages, before surrendering the lead near the 1200m. Rider N Thomas stated he was instructed to be in a forward position however attempted to get the mare to settle as it was stepping up in distance and has a tendency to over race. He added after gaining the lead the mare refused to settle and when EVRYNOW’N’THEN moved to his outside he restrained to gain cover in the hope his mount would settle, however his mount refused to settle, as such he elected to continue to restrain and permitted ARJAYAR which was racing three wide to cross his mount near the 800m.  He further added that the mare would be better suited over distance of less distance than today’s event. Trainer S Leef confirmed the instructions and confirmed that the mare would be dropped back in distance for her future starts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore limb. Trainer S Leef was advised that a Veterinary clearance must be obtained prior to the mare racing or trialling. Trainer S Leef advised the mare would be spelled.
 
FU NI – Held up rounding the home turn and early part of the home straight.
 
WINDUPGIRL – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages when being restrained in attempt to gain cover. Raced wide without cover throughout, carried wider near the 1100m. Steadied near the 350m when STOCKED AND LOADED shifted in. Laid in in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: XXXX DRY Class 3 Handicap 1600 metres
 
FAIRY ME HOME – Performed below market expectations. Rider R Stewart could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BROOK HILL – Near the 450m shifted out bumping DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight, near the 300 shifted out and was disappointed for a clear run, before shifting in and again being held up until passing the 200m.
 
MERLIN'S MAGIC – Slow to begin.
 
DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ – Bumped near the 450m when BROOK HILL shifted out to improve.
 
ANIMAL INSTINCT – Tactics queried, led by a significant margin in the middle stages before compounding in the home straight. Apprentice K Cowan stated she was instructed to be positive, lead and set a strong tempo. Trainer S Leef confirmed the instructions. S Leef was advised that she must issue instructions to riders in order to have the mare the capacity to finish the race off competitively. Apprentice K Cowan was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
 
Race 6: MOUNT FRANKLIN Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
CREDIBLE – Compounded in the home straight, eased down. Trainer M Dunn was advised that the gelding will not be permitted to start at metropolitan meetings until its competitiveness improves.
 
TRIANGULUM – Rider T Marshall reported the gelding would be better suited on tracks with more give.
 
ZOUNATE – Near the 1100m when the pace steadied was awkwardly placed on the heels of CREDIBLE. Rider R Maloney was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
OFF ROAD – Slow to begin. Rider M Hellyer reported the gelding would be better suited on tracks with more give.
 
MISS HUSTLE – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
THINK GLORY – Near the 1100m when the pace steadied began to over race and was awkwardly placed on heels before shifting wider on the track and improving to take the lead near the 800m.
 
TOO VIENNESE – Late scratching at 7.40am, due to Racing Australia having difficulties with incoming phone calls.
 
 
Race 7: GIRL'S DAY OUT 20 MARCH Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres
 
KOZLUCA – Performed below market expectations. Rider M Rodd could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken for analysis. Stable representative P Shailer will be advised that the gelding must trial prior to racing again, follow the disappointing performance.
 
WAR'S END – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Eased down in home straight. Rider R Maloney stated the gelding would be better suited to tracks with more give.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER – Laid in throughout. Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to gain cover.
 
SIR PICCOLO – Held up from the 200m after improving close to the heels of WELL WELL WELL.
 
WELL WELL WELL – Over raced in the early stages.
 
GULLFOSS – Slow to begin.
 
MAGIC MOET – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for majority. Improved performance queried, Trainer T Ranger stated the mare was having her second start for the stable and have derived benefit from it first up run and the addition of blinkers led to the improved performance in her opinion.
 
 
Race 8: RACECOURSE VILLAGE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap 1400 metres
 
CAPTIVATOR – Raced wide without cover.
 
BRYNEICH – held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
ECKER ROAD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover.
 
VINCO – Race wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride and take a position outside the leader. Rider R Maloney was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, three more than permitted.
 
 
JACKPOT JAY – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
ERRINGHI SPRING – Had difficulty in the early part of the home straight obtaining clear running.
 
TAKE TEA – Slow to begin.
 
SIDEKISS – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Performed below market expectations. Rider J Adams stated the gelding would be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Pengilly advised the gelding would be spelled.
