Following overnight rain of 30mls the track was downgraded from a good 4 to a soft 6 at 11:30am.
 
As M Elliot was not riding at the meeting, changes were made as per the race-day summary sheet.
 
Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1030 Metres
 
BRILLIANT MISTAKE – rider reported the horse, in his opinion, failed to handle the prevailing track conditions
 
LENNON’S PADDOCK – slow to begin
 
LIFE’S A WITCH – reared at the start and lost ground. Hung in for majority of the event. A post-race Vet examination of the mare failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer A Hayward indicated he would experiment with a change of gear prior to LIFE’S A Witch next race start.

Race 2: RATINGS 0-60 HDCP 1030 Metres
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed as K Gates, rider of 5th placegetter JACK HENRY, viewed the photo finish image for fourth. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
 
PICK OF THE PUBS – jumped in at the start and contacted FIRST BID
 
REVELIO – held up and obliged to steady away from heels leaving 400 metres
 
GOLFING – momentarily tightened near the 300 metres
 
PATCHE GIFT – raced wide for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight
 
FORT MEYER – wide throughout
 
FIRST BID – jumped out at the start and contacted PICK OF THE PUBS
 
JACK HENRY – laid in despite the efforts of its rider near the 300 metres
 
Race 3: CLASS B HDCP 1200 Metres
 
PAST DARK – wide throughout
 
LIL RUBY ROSE – when racing in restricted room near the 900 metres, became unbalanced and lost ground when checked off the heels of BLOOMIN’ ARRY which shifted out abruptly as result of the saddle slipping to the off-side at that point.
 
CRAFTY AQUILA – tightened near the 1000 metres
 
BLOOMIN’ ARRY – saddle shifted to off-side passing 900 metres, shifted out, placing its rider at a disadvantage for a short distance
 
TORQUE – slow to begin. Tightened near 100 metres
 
RIVERINA GOLD – shifted in near 1000 metres resulting in CRAFTY AQUILA and TORQUE being tightened. Rider C Eaton was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
CRAIGLEA COPPER – after being loaded broke through barriers, was examined by Club Vet and subsequently cleared to start.
 
 
 
Race 4: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1350 Metres
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed as P Romeo, rider of second placegetter LEGAL STATURE, viewed the photo finish image for first. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings. 
 
LUCKY MACHU – slow to begin
 
EXCEL CAT – when over-racing was obliged to steady off heels near 1100 metres
 
LEGAL STATURE – raced wide throughout
 
NEED A WARRANT – raced wide throughout
 
MOLLY MIYAKO – made the 900 metre turn awkwardly and lost ground
 
 
 
Race 5: BENCHMARK 65 CUP HDCP 1350 Metres
 
BURNING MOUNTAIN – bumped at the start
CLAIM THE THRONE – bled both nostrils first time. Trainer G Clem was advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 3 months and must complete a satisfactory gallop of 1000 metres in the presence of a steward prior to its next race start. Mr Clem stated it was his intention to now retire CLAIM THE THRONE.
DUDOOMP – jumped in at the start and bumped BURNING MOUNTAIN
