GENERAL

All runners who previously competed in the past seven days were examined by the veterinarian and passed fit to start.

As T Townsend was unable to attend due to an injury sustained at Charleville on the 26th August 2020, replacements were permitted as per raceday summary. T Townsend was advised a medical would need to be produced prior to her next engagements.

Race 1: AAA ANTENNAS QTIS MDN PLT 1000m

Harrington – Jumped awkwardly, shifting out abruptly contacting GOLDEN FEATURES. Rider H Phillips reported her mount hung out during the event.

Military Ghost – When questioned regarding the gelding leading in today’s event, jockey N Day stated that he didn’t intend on leading, but as there was no pace in the race, he elected to push forward rather than be trapped wide.

Provocative Man – Had to be restrained off the heels of LADY CECILIA approaching the 600m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Flash Fox – Reared on jumping.

Love's Best Hope – Approaching the 200m, had to be steadied off the heels of BELDRAGON to improve into clear running.

Nerina – Jumped awkwardly. Had to be steadied off the heels of PROVACTIVE MAN shortly after rounding the home turn when that runner shifted in. Rider B Richardson was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Golden Features – As M Potgieter failed to arrive on course on time, he was replaced by D. McGillivray who was the only apprentice on course available. App Potgieter was reprimanded under AR128. Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 2: EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB QTIS MDN PLT 1000m

Lola Mae – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Katandra – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not competing in over 12 months and passed fit to start. Raced wide throughout.

Let’s go Smarty – Steadied off the heels of the tiring MISS DAISY approaching the home turn.

Plenty of Ticker – Raced wide in the early stages.

Sharindi – Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied off the heels of TISAYAC who shifted in when racing greenly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Tisayac - As M Haley was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by B Richardson. M Haley was fined the sum of $200 under AR190(3) for failing to fulfil his engagement. Approaching the 900m, commenced to overrace and shifted in abruptly placing SHARINDI in restricted room.

Race 3: FLEXIHIRE BENCHMARK 65 HCP 1300M

Galapagos – Raced wide in the early stages.

Stellar Knight –When questioned regarding the poor performance, Rider A Butler stated that although STELLAR KNIGHT travelled well throughout the event, when he asked for an effort, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer O Cairns stated it was now her intention to retire the gelding.

Zendaye – Slow to begin.

Bound to Me – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and had to be steadied off the heels of ZENDAYE to improve into clear running.

Husson's Shout – Slow to begin.

Race 4: REGAL FENCING BENCHMARK 50 HCP 1200M

Correct weight was delayed to allow rider of 2nd placegetter S.Wiseman (FLAT TO STACK) to view the photo finish. After viewing the photo, she was satisfied with the judge’s placings.

Correct weight was further delayed to allow rider A Butler (DJEBEL READY) to view the stewards patrol films to ascertain whether or not the mare had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the films, he declined to make application and correct weight was declared.

Hi Zero – Laid out rounding the home turn.

Djebel Ready – Fractious in the barriers and reared on jumping and missed the start as a result. Trainer R Vale was advised a warning would be placed on the record. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Flat to Stack – Held up rounding the home turn to the 200m and had to ease off heels to improve into clear running. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
Achilles Pride

Chilli Prawn – When questioned regarding racing further forward, app C Bayliss stated that it was not his intention to be so far forward as CHILLI PRAWN has been noticeably slowly away in recent starts and due to this, he was expecting to race in the back half of the field. He added that when CHILLI PRAWN jumped well, he elected to make use of the unexpected gate speed and not be trapped wide. Stewards noted the explanation. Approaching the winning post, had to be steadied when tightened for room between BROOKVILLE who shifted out and RELIABLE LASS who was taken inwards by CASSAVANCE. Rider of CASSAVANCE, N Summers was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Brookville – Shifted out marginally over the concluding stages.

King Kai – Approaching the 800m, was steadied when tightened for room by RELIABLE LASS who was overracing and shifted in abruptly

Perfect Times – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages.

Reliable Lass – Overraced approaching the 800m and shifted in abruptly tightening KING KAI. Held up for clear running until approaching the 100m. Had to be steadied when placed in restricted room over the concluding stages by CASSAVANCE, which shifted in.

Cassavance – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Duan Phoenix – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when HI ZERO shifted out under pressure.

Race 5: EMERALD JOCKEY CLUB BENCHMARK 50 HCP 1200M

Manila Miss – Raced wide in the early stages.

Cinco Star – Pulled hard in the early stages.

Bold Zip – Overraced in the early stages. Rider Z White was fined $400 for using her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permissible under the rule.

Flinders Deagon – Raced wide in the early stages.

Hezagigolo – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after when CARPE NOCTEM shifted out on jumping. Had to be steadied off the heels of CINCO STAR approaching the 800m when the pace slackened. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Marron Cheval – When questioned regarding the mare leading in the event, jockey N Summers stated that her instructions were to have the mare where comfortable and to assess her position after jumping. She added initially her intentions were to be in a midfield position, however with no pace in the race and after beginning quickly, she elected to make use of the gate speed and press forward rather than be trapped wide. When questioned regarding the mare leading and the improved performance, trainer N Vagg stated that with the added distance, a gear change and the drop in grade, he was confident of a good showing. He added that MARRON CHEVAL had led in the past and although he hadn’t specifically instructed N Summers to lead, he wasn’t surprised to see MARRON CHEVAL taking up a forward position in the event. Stewards noted the explanation however reminded trainer Vagg of the obligations of AR100(1)(a).

Carpe Noctem – Jumped awkwardly shifting out.

Sidina – Stood flat footed and missed the start (3L). Trainer C Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the mare.

Motueka River – Raced wide in the early stages. Rider B Richardson was fined $400 for using her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, being four more than permissible under the rule.

Race 6: TWO AT A THYME CATERING RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HCP 1000M

Flying Magic – Raced in restricted room and taken in approaching the 800m when BLACK JAGUAR hung in.

Emmy's Our Girl – Raced wide throughout

Lucky Bee – Taken in onto FLOSSY TOP and had to be checked when tightened for room when BOOM OR BUST shifted in when insufficiently clear approaching the 800m.

Black Jaguar – Hung in near the 800m placing FLYING MAGIC in restricted room and taking that runner in onto BOOM OR BUST.

Boom Or Bust – Jumped away very awkwardly. Placed in restricted room when taken in by FLYING MAGIC, who was taken in by BLACK JAGUAR who hung in. App Potgieter was reminded to stop riding immediately when taking corrective measures.

Isis Jectale – Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

Flossy Top – In the vicinity of the 800m, had to be checked when tightened for room between the rail and LUCKY BEE, who was taken in when BOOM OR BUST shifted in when insufficiently clear. App D McGillivray was severely reprimanded under AR131(a). Shortly after, clipped the heels of BOOM OR BUST when that runner was taken in by FLYING MAGIC, who was taken in by BLACK JAGUAR, who hung in.

Race 7: KORN'S BOBCAT & TIPPER HIRE BENCHMARK 50 HCP 1615M

Correct weight was delayed to allow 3rd placegetter H Phillips (TELLOFF) to view the judges’ placings. Atfer viewing the photo, she was satisfied with the placings and correct weight was declared.

Ruffin' It – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Rider B Appo reported his mount hung out throughout, placing him at a disadvantage for the event. Trainer Z Hohn was advised a warning would be placed on the record of RUFFIN’ IT.

Visavis – Declared a late scratching at 4.42pm when it was found to be lame in the near fore. Upon declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on VISAVIS be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4.42pm:

7c in the dollar for the win #2 (COACH)
6c in the dollar for the place #2 (COACH)
8c in the dollar for the place #9 (MYSTERY ELEMENT)
7c in the dollar for the place #11 (TELLOFF)

Trainer O Cairns was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to VISAVIS racing again.

Super Kids – Had to be eased off the heels of TELLOFF approaching the 1500m when that runner shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey H Phillips was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Overraced in the early stages. Raced greenly in the home straight.

Rock Me Hussey – Raced wide in the middle stages.

Mystery Element – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Aussie Tycoon – Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when COACH shifted in marginally.

Race 8: SPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE CLASS 6 PLT 1000M

Correct weight was delayed to allow rider of 3rd placegetter A Butler (MR TINDALL) to view the photo finish. Atfer viewing the photo, he was satisfied with the judges’ placings and correct weight was declared.

Rosexcel – Had to be steadied approaching the 150m when attempting a narrow between the rail and PUMP ACTION who shifted in marginally when weakening.

Hazar – Shifted out abruptly shortly after jumping hampering MISS DEFIANCE.

Scorcha – Reared on jumping. Rider Z White reported that her intentions were to be closer to the speed but after SCORCHA reared, she was forced to ride in the tail end of the field. She added she was pleased with how her mount finished off the race nonetheless and it would take benefit from the run.

Charlie Rocket – Hung out in the home straight.

Miss Defiance – Hampered shortly after the start when HAZAR shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout.

Rockethead – Raced wide throughout.

Pump Action – Shifted out under pressure when weakening in the home straight.
