Race 2: MEMBER APPRECIATION QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000m

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to consider two objections lodged by Trainer L Wright, trainer of EMILEE’S EMPIRE declared third by the judge, against APPARENTLY NOT ,2nd placegetter, and LEO’S DEN, placed 1st, alleging interference over the concluding stages. It was established that near the 50m LEO’S DEN commenced to shift out carrying APPARENTLY NOT out towards EMILEE’S EMPIRE and approaching the finish line shifted out abruptly causing APPARENTLY NOT to forcibly bump EMILLEE’S EMPIRE resulting in both runners becoming severely unbalanced. Stewards were of the view that APPARENTLY NOT had no bearing on the interference suffered to EMILEE’S EMPIRE and even though the interference was significant, bearing in mind the proximity to the finish and how the runners were finishing off the race, stewards were not satisfied had the interference not occurred EMILEE’S EMPIRE would have beaten APPARENTLY NOT and LEO’S DEN and as such both objections were dismissed.

Correct weight was also delayed to allow stewards to consider an objection lodged by Trainer A Coome, trainer of APPARENTLY NOT the 2nd placegetter, against LEO’S DEN placed 1st alleging interference over the concluding stages. It was established that near the 50m LEO’S DEN commenced to shift out carrying APPARENTLY NOT outwards and approaching the finish line shifted out abruptly causing APPARENTLY NOT to become severely unbalanced. Stewards were of the view that had the interference not occurred APPARENTLY NOT would have finished ahead of LEO’S DEN at the finish and therefore upheld the objection and amended the placings as follows; APPARENTLY NOT (1st), LEO’S DEN (2nd), EMILEE’S EMPIRE (3rd) and BETTER CHILL’EM (4th).

Leo's Den – Shifted out abruptly over the concluding stages despite the efforts of its rider, making heavy contact with APPARENTLY NOT who was carried out onto EMILEE’S EMPIRE. Trainer P. A post race veterinary examination revealed the presence of blood in one nostril due to an abrasion.

Better Chill'em – Laid out rounding the home turn.

4 cents in the dollar for all place bets #3 (APPARENTLY NOT)
4 cents in the dollar for all place bets #1 (LEO’S DEN)
