Race 1: LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING – JASON DIETE MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

The start of this race was delayed when ROYAL ASSASSIN became fractious and broke through the front of the barriers. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start, however the horse refused to reload and was declared a late scratching at 12.30pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

24 cents in the dollar for the Win #7
13 cents in the dollar for place of winner #7
29 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
26 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #11

Trainer L. Ross was advised that the gelding must participate in two consecutive barrier trials prior to its next race start. Mr Ross advised that he would now consider the horse’s future in his stable.

SIR EARLSTOUN – Began awkwardly.

JIMMY NEUTRON – Raced wide throughout. Shifted wider on the track approaching the 1100m. Bumped between runners rounding the home turn.

OUR TOP LADY – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously approaching the 1100m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

IBERIAN LACE – Raced keenly in the early stages. Shifted out to improve approaching the 600m and, as a result, made contact with MADDIE’S HART.

WE WANT IT ALL – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of MADDIE’S HEART approaching the 1100m.

GALACTIC GODDESS – Began awkwardly and made contact with the outside barrier partition. As a result, jockey E. Ljung reported some discomfort to her left foot on returning to scale.

BROOK’S PLEASURE – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, Apprentice B. Nothdurft stated that, after beginning well and having a favourable run throughout, the filly failed to finish off as expected and he was unable to offer any excuses for the below market performance. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no significant findings other than a laceration below its jaw.

DANCING ANGEL – Began awkwardly.

VANZANT – Slow to begin. Eased to avoid the heels of BROOK’S PLEASURE which shifted in near the 900m.

SKYE AND ME – Altered course in the home straight to obtain clear running.

RAVEN’S WING – Slow to begin. Jockey M. Hellyer reported that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout. Steadied near the 150m when awkwardly placed at the heels of SOLO ARTIST (E. Ljung), after being taken out by MYSTIC BROOK (App. M. Murphy) which shifted out. Apprentice M. Murphy was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

SOLO ARTIST – Tightened for room at the start. Commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from the heels of DANCING ANGEL leaving the 800m and, as a result, shifted out abruptly.

CALM QUALO – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: TEMPORARY FENCE & BARRIER HIRE QTIS 3YO BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1100M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards permitted jockey L. Tilley, the rider of 4th placegetter HARD YAGA, to view the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection. After viewing the film, jockey Tilley indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judge’s semaphored numbers.

TRU BLU TANGO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

LUCKY FIX – Began awkwardly. Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.

BIG ARJAY – Tightened for room at the start, and then a short distance later was bumped on the hindquarters by GO DIAMONDS and became unbalanced.

HARD YAGA – After beginning awkwardly, the gelding was then tightened for room and checked and, as a result, lost ground. Steadied near the 600m after improving onto the heels of BIG ARJAY. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in the rider having to stop and straighten the gelding.

SPIRITOSA – Bumped heavily at the start, and then checked from the heels of THE BUMBLEBEE which shifted in abruptly at the start.

GO DIAMONDS – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.

THE BUMBLEBEE – Raced wide without cover throughout.

PLATEAU PEARL – Shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with SPIRITOSA. Steadied near the 600m when awkwardly placed at the heels of THE BUMBLEBEE and, as a result, shifted wider on the track.

Jockey B. Ainsworth, the rider of HANNAH’S SONG, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that shortly after the start she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in which resulted in THE BUMBLEBEE (App. A. Spinks) being tightened for room and checked causing THE BUMBLEBEE to shift in and make contact with PLATEAU PEARL (J. Taylor) which had to be steadied when tightened for room at that point. Jockey Ainsworth’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Wednesday 26 June 2019 and expire at midnight on Thursday 4 July 2019. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Ainsworth’s guilty plea and her prior good record in relation to this rule.

Race 5: NOLANS INTERSTATE TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 860M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards to view the photo finish print of the dead-heating runners for first. After viewing the print, Stewards were satisfied with the judge’s semaphored numbers.

COMMANDEERING – Jockey T. Harrison reported that after receiving interference at the start her mount settled further back in the field than anticipated.

CASH’N’RUN – Began awkwardly and laid out despite the efforts of its rider. Laid out throughout, and when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding continued to lay out placing its rider at some disadvantage. Trainer P. Clarke was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding.

SIR ROTHEWAY – Clipped the heels of SUGAR BUZZ when that runner shifted out at the start and, as a result, blundered.

KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Tightened for room at the start. When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, Apprentice A. Thompson explained that after beginning awkwardly, and due to the fast early tempo, he was obliged to settle his mount further back in the field than anticipated. He added that the gelding finished the race off well and, in his opinion, would be better suited when stepping up over further distances. Stewards noted the explanation.

HOUSE OF DRAMA – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which weakened from the 600m and was eventually eased out of the race near the 200m, revealed the horse to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer P. Sexton was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

PIPEMAJOR – Slow to begin.

CHOPPA – As E. Ljung was unable to fulfil her engagement due to ongoing discomfort in her left foot, Apprentice M. Wishart was substituted as rider when no other senior rider was available.

I’M FAVULOUS – Commenced to overrace and became unbalanced after making the turn near the 1100m awkwardly.

SOLITARY ROSE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

DUBAI GEE EYE – As the gelding had been incorrectly advertised as wearing blinkers, Stewards permitted the horse to race without that gear.
