Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1600M

SUCCINITE – Bumped shortly after the start.

ANOTHER ELEMENT – Bumped by BAY NOT GREY when that runner shifted in shortly after the start. Overraced whilst being restrained from approaching the 1300m until a point passing the 1100m. Shifted wider on the track when BAMBALAM shifted out to obtain clear running leaving the 800m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder.

BAMBALAM – Began awkwardly and then shifted in making contact with SUCCINITE.

ARJAYAR – Struck its head after becoming fractious in the tie-up stall, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. After beginning moderately, the gelding settled in a rearward position. Jockey S. Bogenhuber reported that the gelding failed to respond to her riding throughout, and proved disappointing. She added that, in her opinion, the gelding may not have been suited by the step-up in distance today, and may not have handled the track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.

BAY NOT GREY – Jumped away awkwardly and then shifted in shortly after the start making contact with ANOTHER ELEMENT.

Race 2: TEMPORARY FENCING AND BARRIERS RATINGS BAND 0-65 H’CAP – 2000M

UNIQUE MISTIQUE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

SPUR WITH EASE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced in the early stages. Following the race, trainer B. Johnson reported that the mare had bled from both nostrils, which was confirmed by the veterinary surgeon. Mr. Johnson was advised that the mare will be ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing it must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a Steward.

MALCRIADO – On return to scale, jockey T. Marshall advised that he had concerns about the horse’s action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained an injury to its near fore tendon. Trainer C. Cousins was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

TALAPUS – Hung out rounding the home turn.

Race 3: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM LVTC MAIDEN H’CAP – 1400M

BETTER BROTHER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in in the home straight.

Race 5: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM LVTC CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1600M

MR PIQUET – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

LOUIE LA’JOY – Jockey L. Tilley advised that it would be the intention for the gelding to be ridden further forward today if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Blundered upon entering the home straight.

THE KNIGHT – Tightened for room between runners on jumping away.

PRINCELY SUM – After beginning well, the gelding was restrained by its rider to take up a rearward position.

RATHER SALUBRIOUS – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early and middle stages before being forced wider on the track leaving the 700m, and was then again forced wider approaching the 500m

TOCOKOE – Shifted out to obtain clear running approaching the 700m.

CARPE NOCTEM – Forced wider on the track when TOCOKOE shifted out approaching the 700m. Checked and lost ground when LOUIE LA’JOY (L. Tilley) shifted out approaching the 500m to avoid the heels of ROCK ME HUSSEY (A. Spinks) which resulted in TOCOKOE (App. A. Thompson) being forced outwards on to CARPE NOCTEM (S. Bogenhuber) which was then tightened for room between TOCOKOE (App. A. Thompson) and RATHER SALUBRIOUS (L. McCoy). L. Tilley, the rider of LOUIE LA’JOY, was reprimanded as a result of this incident.
