GENERAL
 
As App. M. Shimodaria was injured and not riding at the meeting and J. Bayliss was unable to fulfil his engagements in races 7 and 8 due to personal reasons, rider replacements were made as per the stewards summary.
 
Race 1: TEMPORARY FENCING & BARRIER HIRE COLTS, GLEDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE – 1400m
 
The start was delayed when a number of runners were difficult to load.
 
TYCOON MCKINNEY- Began awkwardly. Blundered and became unbalanced near the 1100m. Both trainer N. Hocking and Apprentice M. Kennedy expressed disappointment in the performance of the gelding in todays event and could offer no tangible explanation other than it may not have handled the prevailing track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
CREDIBLE- Tightened for room on jumping.
 
TIRALARC- Tightened for room on jumping.
 
SET BEAT- Hung out throughout and proved difficult to ride. A warning was issued against the geldings racing manners.
 
ZOFF THE BOSS- Slow to begin.
 
FROM NOW(NZ)- Hung in under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.
 
TRIPPER- Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: GATTON VIEW HOTEL FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE – 1400m
 
Following the running of race 1 the track was downgraded to a soft 7
 
SIZZLING DIAMOND- After beginning well was ridden forward in the early stages and as a result settled further forward than anticipated. Checked to avoid heels bear the 1100m. At a subsequent inquiry App. M Savva (MYKISS FROMA ROSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in near the 1100m when insufficiently clear of SIZZLING DIAMOND causing interference to that runner. App. M. Savva’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence at midnight 12.7.20 and to expire at midnight 21.7.20.
 
ALGONQUIN BAY- Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the turn near the 1100m.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA- Began very awkwardly and was tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
GOLDEN JAZZ- Bumped heavily on jumping and was then checked when tightened shortly after the start.
 
MYKISS FROMA ROSE- Began awkwardly.
 
ESKIMO KISS- Forced wider on the track near the 1200m.
 
ZAGITOVA- Held up for a short distance near the 500m.
 
EAGER STREET- Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
STYK AT IT- Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 3: LOCKYER VALLEY PAINTING CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1600m
 
TONY’S DECREE- Slow into stride.
 
HEEBEE RIGHT MATE- Jockey M. Hellyer expressed disappointment in the performance of the gelding which he advised hung out throughout and proved difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BONSEA- Raced 3 wide without cover from the 800m.
 
MADAM MAHAL- Began awkwardly and was then reluctant to stretch out and lost considerable ground.
 
CANDSCENCE- Was tightened for room and checked rounding the home turn when HEEBEE RIGHT MATE shifted out when forced wider by BETTER ETHICS which made the home turn awkwardly.
 
 
Race 4: TAB BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 860m
 
MAGIC SCENT – After being loaded became fractious in the barriers. Was removed and vetted and subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:21pm on veterinary advice. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MAGIC SCENT be refunded with the following deductions to apply –
 
1st – 17c the win and 7c the place
2nd - 30c the place
3rd- 25c the place
 
CRISTOVAO - Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
JACK OF SPADES – Post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which tailed off revealed a minor laceration to the off hind hock. In light of today’s performance Trainer F. Hall advised the gelding would now be retired.
 
 
Race 5: TRADIES DAY SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER QTIS 3-Y-O BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP – 860m
 
The start was delayed when an adjustment to the running rail was required near the 300m.
 
ZAITEKI- Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
MALAKAI- Steadied to avoid heels over the concluding stages.
 
JUST LIKE RULER- Tightened for room and checked over the concluding stages when ZAITEKI shifted in abruptly after being taken in by DANINA which was in turn taken in by SOMEBODY’S GIRL.
 
 
Race 6: MCNEIL FARMS AND MARES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP -1400m
 
SIZZLING BABE- Slow to begin. Raced 4 wide from the 800m.
 
DEVILLAIN- Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority of the event. Was forced wider on the track by another runner at the 1100m. App. A. Thompson could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance. Trainer P. Duff also expressed disappointment in the performance however advised that in his opinion the mare may not have handled the prevailing track conditions. Mr Duff undertook to advise stewards in the days following todays meeting if any abnormalities become apparent which may have affected todays performance.
 
EVENING- Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide with cover for the majority. Was forced wider on the track by another runner at the 1100m. Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the home turn and laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SENTIMENTAL MISS- Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
PATRIOTIC ROSE- Steadied to avoid heels near the 400m.
 
SHADWELL FLYER- Near the 1100m was tightened for room, checked and shifted wider when SECRET CONQUEST (M. Kennedy) shifted in marginally.
 
TIZ- Near the 1100m forced wider on the track to avoid heels.
 
Race 7: ROYAL GATTON HOTEL COLTS, GELDINGS, & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1400m
 
A LITTLE CRAFTY- Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
RESEST’S SON- Began awkwardly.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT- Slow to begin.
 
TYCOON PLAYER- Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. When returning to scale jockey J. Taylor reported that his mount raced flat today and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation.
 
HIGHTOWER- Jockey P. Hamblin was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 8: LOCKYER PRODUCE RATINGS BAND 0-85 HANDICAP -1100m
 
KINGS LADY- App. B. Nothdurft could offer no explanation for the below market expectation performance. Trainer M. Currie advised that in light of today’s performance he will review the mare’s future in his stable
 
THE BUMBLEBEE- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
CAPITAL CITY- Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
ROYAL EQUIANO- Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Jockey R. Faehr was fined $200 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
GOSSIAUX- Jockey H. Phillips was fined $200 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m.
