RACE 1: Aquis Ladies Day 5 Jan Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
Trainer B Ahrens was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey B Ainsworth on OUR RED DOG.
 
SHES SPICY - As the mare has not raced for over 2 years it underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
SPEEDGUN - Began awkwardly. After passing the 1000m, laid in and away from SUZI BEL and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of DECODER and lost some ground. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey D Griffin explained that the gelding travelled comfortably in the early stages and when the speed slackened in the middle stages the gelding was left flat-footed in the sprint home over the final 400m. He further added that he was not disappointed with the performance but felt the tempo of the race may not have entirely suited the gelding today.
 
DECODER - Began awkwardly. When racing outside the leader passing the 900m, commenced to over-race and got its head up for a short distance when being restrained.
 
HOUSE ARREST - Hampered on jumping away.
 
SUZI BEL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MAI TAI RAIN - Raced 4 wide without cover throughout. After being caught wide for the majority of the event, commenced to lose ground rounding the home turn and finished a distant last. Trainer B Ahrens advised stewards that he will confer with connections and review the fillys current campaign.
 
 
RACE 2: Hawkins Media Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
SHA NAY NAY - Slow to begin.
 
REGIMENTAL FORCE - Began awkwardly.
 
CINNABARBOW - Began awkwardly and was slightly hampered. After passing the 900m had to be steadied away from the heels of BUBS GOLD which shifted in despite some effort from its rider and then commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions. Jockey N Day (BUBS GOLD) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
GRAND QUILL - Began awkwardly and shifted in. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 800m bumped by CINNABARBOW which shifted out to improve.
 
ARKAROOLA – Approaching the 800m was awkwardly placed at the heels of GRAND QUILL and shifted in.
 
 
RACE 3: Striker Fabrications QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 900m
 
The start was significantly delayed when EREMURUS refused to be loaded into the barriers. EREMURUS was withdrawn by order of stewards at 12.40pm. All monies invested on EREMURUS were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 12.40pm:-

Trainer D Chujo was advised that the filly would need to officially trial to stewards satisfaction before being permitted to race again.
 
PRIVATE CLIENT - Shortly after the start, the gelding hung in quite badly causing SASSY STYLE to be severely hampered and SHOWS PRIDE to be inconvenienced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery, however, Trainer K Schweida was advised that the gelding would need to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again.
 
BALERION - Passing the 600m had to be checked when tightened for room by MISS NASTY which was taken in by DIARIST which laid in initially away from LIGREB and then further tightened. Jockey J Woodhouse (LIGREB) was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Hung out approaching the home turn and raced greenly and got its head up.
 
SHOWS PRIDE - Passing the 600m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
MISS KATNISS - Passing the 400m was bumped and placed in restricted room to the inside of LIGREB which shifted in.
 
DIARIST - When placed under pressure approaching the 200m raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.
 
KURU LASS - Slightly inconvenienced by DIARIST on a couple of occasions over the final 200m.
 
MISS NASTY - Laid in under pressure over the final 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have been galloped on with lacerations to the near hind leg. The filly was treated on course by the veterinary surgeon to travel home.
 
 
RACE 4: Bearded Dragon Hotel Maiden Handicap – 1400m
 
WENDOUREE RED – The mare underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
AMIRAT JAMILA - Began awkwardly.
 
MAILLOT JAUNE MOI - Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early and middle stages.
 
THE FULL MONTY - Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
SHINING BLUE - Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages before pressing forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 700m.
 
 
RACE 5: PCA Cleaning Australia Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
 
As Jockey S Doyle was to be overweight, he was replaced on SCOUTABOUT by Jockey A Fancourt. Jockey Doyle was fined the sum of $100.
 
MADLUCE MISSILE - Began awkwardly.
 
MILNE BAY - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. When commencing to weaken passing the 300m was slightly hampered by SILENT STATUE which shifted out to improve.
 
SCOUTABOUT - Had to be eased slightly passing the 300m when cramped for racing room.
 
SILENT STATUE - Over-raced during the early and middle stages.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
RACE 6: John Hyam Racing Class 2 Handicap – 1100m
 
DITMAS - Blundered on jumping away. Passing the 900m had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the outside of RIOLI and to the inside of BIG ARJAY which shifted in slightly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of the thumps.
 
BIG ARJAY - Began awkwardly.
 
LUNA MISSILE - Approaching the winning post, faltered and broke down. As the gelding fractured its near fore sesamoid it was euthanized on humane grounds. Swab samples were taken and the horse was transported to Gatton University for an autopsy to be performed.
 
 
RACE 7: Nerang RSL BenchMark 75 Handicap – 1800m
 
Prior to this race, club officials inspected a section of track between the 100m and the winning post and deemed the track safe to continue racing.
 
MENDELSSOHN - Slow into stride.
 
BENICOS PRINCE - Raced 3 wide without cover from the 1200m.
 
MISHANI PHOENIX – Jockey J Stanley reported that when placed under pressure rounding the home turn the gelding failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion did not appreciate todays track condition.
 
SMART AS ATTACK - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
RACE 8: Happy 21st Jessica C,G&E Class 1 Handicap – 1300m
 
SANGUINE RED - As the gelding has not raced for over 12 months it underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
As the horses were leaving the enclosure YOUL BEATEM was very fractious and reared over dislodging its rider. The gelding was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3.45pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on YOUL BEATEM were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 3.45pm:-

The start was delayed when SPANISH HURRICANE proved difficult to load. After being loaded, SPANISH HURRICANE became fractious in the barriers and was removed and underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 3.52 on veterinary advice. All monies invested on SPANISH HURRICANE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 3.52pm:-

SANGUINE RED - Began awkwardly.
 
BADGE OF GAMENESS - Bumped on jumping away. Passing the 1000m was slightly inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of JACKPOT JAY.
 
ALL GIFTS - Blundered on jumping away.
 
SEQUABLUR - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
JACKPOT JAY - Laid in rounding the home turn making contact with SPICERS PEAK. Passing the 300m continued to lay in across the heels of SEQUABLUR clipping that runners heels and blundered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed it to be significantly lame in the near fore leg. Trainer L Kelly was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the geldings next race start.
 
SPICERS PEAK - Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
Jockey L Dittman (SPICERS PEAK) reported that he had some back soreness. He was examined by ambulance personnel and cleared to fulfil his further engagement.
 
 
RACE 9: Geoff Newling Media F&M Class 1 Handicap – 1300m
 
As there was no other rider available, Stewards permitted App. J Hodge to fulfil his riding engagement on ART SHE QUICK ½ kg overweight.
 
GYPSYS TIP - Began awkwardly. Jockey A Fancourt reported that her mount travelled reasonably well throughout the event, however, was slightly disappointing over the concluding stages and in her opinion the mare may not have appreciated todays track condition.
 
POSITIVE SPIN - Bumped on jumping away.
 
SUNNY ST CLOUD – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
TATCEE - Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
LADY EIGHTY EIGHT - Slightly held up rounding the home turn. After passing the 200m had some difficulty securing clear running and was bumped and became unbalanced on a couple of occasions when racing in restricted room.
