GENERAL
 
All runners declared in the final field for the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas and 2YO Classic underwent a veterinary examination in the days prior to today’s meeting and were cleared to start. During the course of these examinations DOSS (3YO Guineas) was found to be lame in the near fore leg and YES YES YES (2YO Classic) to be lame in the near hind leg. As a consequence both horses were scratched from their respective races.
 
SUPPLEMENTARY
 
As jockeys C. Brown and D. Browne were indisposed due to illness Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
RACE 1: PACIFIC FAIR MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
KEREMA MORI – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer L. White will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the mare racing again.
 
OUR TONINICCONI – Slow to begin.
 
GALINA – Slow to begin.
CURSE FREE – Slow to begin.
 
DUNBRODY POWER – Near the 1000m raced tight when making contact with ADDOCARR, which in turn was tightened to the inside of TERMINOLOGY, which shifted in.
 
ADDOCARR – Raced tight and made contact with DUNBRODY POWER whilst racing tight to the inside of TERMINOLOGY near the 1000m. Jockey T. Clark (TERMINOLOGY) was reprimanded for this incident.
 
ELUSIVE MELODY – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance between the 400m and 200m.
 
TERMINOLOGY – Laid out over the final 100m.
 
KIMI – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from mild heat stress and was treated accordingly.
 
ALTAIR – Raced three wide throughout.
 
BRILLIANT MIND – Raced three wide throughout.
 
LAGARDE – Raced extremely wide without cover throughout.
 
BOOMTOWN LASS – Jockey D. Griffin reported that the filly was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective.
 
 
RACE 2: FRIZELLE SUNSHINE MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP (SPECIAL CONDITIONS) – 1200M
 
MISS TOORAK FLYER – Jockey K. McEvoy reported that his mount slipped behind and as a result blundered and lost ground at the start.After being taken out by MR MARKOU near the 300m made heavy contact with TAPESTRY VISION.
 
SPLITZ – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ALL IMPORTANT. Unable to secure clear running for a major part of the home straight and as a result went to the line not fully tested.
 
MR MARKOU – Slow to begin. Passing the 300m shifted out to improve and bumped MISS TOORAK FLYER.
 
ALL IMPORTANT – Bumped at the start.
 
TRUST ME – Near the 1100m had to be steadied when tightened for room between COOL SEQUENCE, which was taken in slightly by WONDER BOOM, and SPLITZ. Held up over the final 100m when awkwardly placed at the heels of WONDER BOOM, which shifted in. Raced four wide throughout.
 
SO INVINCIBLE – Near the 800m, which was laying out, became awkward at the heels of HYDRAZINE and had to be steadied.
 
RECKLESS CHOICE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the straight until approaching the 100m.
 
WONDER BOOM – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Raced four wide throughout.
 
TAPESTRY VISION – Bumped and became unbalanced near the 300m. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
HE’S A MORAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
BERAHT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
COOL SEQUENCE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 3: RACING QUEENSLAND $1M MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS OPEN – 1300M
 
OURS TO KEEP – Became fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. When questioned as to the performance jockey C. Williams noted that the gelding was obliged to race three wide without cover throughout but nonetheless was disappointed in its inability to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Williams added that the gelding felt sound throughout but noted that it was in an agitated mood today, as evident by the gelding being fractious in the barriers. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
PRUE’S ANGEL – Slow to begin.
 
SPUR LE JOUER – Slow to begin.
 
REALING – Slow to begin. Over the final stages had to be steadied when tightened for room between DIVINE DICE and IN HIS STRIDE, both of which shifted ground.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Brushed by CHAPTER AND VERSE and then had to be steadied from the heels of HAVASAY near the 1000m.
 
HAVASAY – At the entrance to the straight had to be steadied from the heels of the tiring SISTA ACT.
 
FIT FOR PURPOSE – Passing the 200m had to alter course to the inside of SISTA ACT, which was weakening.
 
PERILOUS LOVE – Raced three wide throughout.
UMBERTO – Upon return to scale jockey R. Fradd reported that the gelding was under pressure leaving the 600m and he felt that it may benefit with the addition of blinkers.
 
 
RACE 4: SKY RACING $1M MAGIC MILLIONS TROPHY – 2200M
 
The start was delayed when SURPRISE BULLET proved difficult to load. Trainer B. Lockwood was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to starting again.
 
BLACK ON GOLD – Slow to begin. Inside the final 100m jockey M. Walker accidentally dropped his near side rein for some distance.
 
TUNERO – Slow to begin.
 
SURPRISE BULLET – Inclined to hang in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
EVOLO – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight until inside the final 100m.
 
ENDLESS DAYS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 5: IT’S LIVE! IN QLD $1M MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS – 1200M
 
EGYPTIAN SYMBOL – Slow to begin.
 
IRISH CONSTABULARY – Restrained at the start to the rear to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
LE CORDON BLEU – Hampered at the start.
 
USAIN BOWLER – Slow to begin.
 
INVINCIBLE STAR – Shortly after the start was tightened for room and had to be eased when FIERY HEIGHTS shifted in. As a result INVINCIBLE STAR settled further back than anticipated. Jockey B. Stewart (FIERY HEIGHTS) was advised to exercise more care. Raced three wide throughout. When questioned as to the disappointing performance jockey T. Clark stated that after being checked at the start the mare was forced to race further back in the field than its established racing pattern, which he felt had been to its disadvantage. He added that in his opinion the firm track may have also been a contributing factor to the poor performance. A post race veterinary revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Co-trainer A. Bott was advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the mare racing again.
 
LE CORDON BLEU – Near the 200m was brushed when EGYPTIAN SYMBOL shifted outwards to improve.
 
SPENDING TO WIN – Near the 1000m was eased when tightened to the inside of FIERY HEIGHTS, which shifted inwards. Jockey B. Stewart (FIERY HEIGHTS) was reprimanded for this incident. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MALVERN ESTATE – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
HOUTZEN – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out and bumped LE CORDON BLEU. Inclined to lay out rounding the first turn. When questioned regarding the performance jockey J. Lloyd stated that the mare jumped away awkwardly and did not initially show early speed. However, he was able to obtain a position outside the leader after going a short distance without over exerting the mare. He further stated that from the 600m the mare was off the bit and failed to respond and run on, and may not have appreciated today’s firm surface. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a poor post race recovery.
 
Jockey J. Lloyd was fined $400 for failing to weigh out by the required time, which resulted in HOUTZEN not being presented in the yard no later than 15 minutes prior to the race in accordance with the provisions of AR124.
 
 
RACE 6: MOET & CHANDON $1M MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES & MARES – 1300M
 
CELLARGIRL – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the mare racing again.
 
OF THE DAY – Shifted in near the 1000m and made heavy contact with PLATINUM ANGEL. Raced wide throughout.
 
I AM QUEEN – Passing the 800m commenced to overrace, shifted wider and raced wide without cover from that point.
 
ELLICAZOOM – Had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
PROBLEM SOLVER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 7: GOLD COAST $2M MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS – 1400M
 
Stewards considered an objection lodged by J. McDonald the rider of OUTBACK BARBIE which finished third against BONDI (K. McEvoy) being declared the second placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 200m. After taking evidence from all relevant parties and viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage it was established that BONDI shifted out away from BOOMSARA near the 250m however, Stewards were not satisfied that OUTBACK BARBIE was committed to the outside of the heels of BONDI at that stage. BONDI again shifted out away from BOOMSARA, which also shifted out slightly over the final stages. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that this minor inconvenience had a material effect on the finishing placings and therefore dismissed the objection.
 
 
PLUMARO - Kicked by another horse in the tie-up stalls earlier in the day, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Lost ground and eased approaching the 1000m.
 
LIGHT UP THE ROOM – Fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
THE FIRE TRAP – Slow to begin. Near the 1000m was eased when tightened to the inside of MALAHIDE, which was racing tight to the inside of PERSUADER.
 
BONDI – Overraced in the early stages. Laid out and away from BOOMSARA over the concluding stages and momentarily brushed OUTBACK BARBIE.
 
SMART ELISSIM – Lost ground and eased approaching the 1000m.
 
SUGAR SIZZLE – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
PERSUADER – Laid in in the early part of the straight.
 
BAREFOOT – Held up in the early part of the straight.
 
BOOMSARA – Laid outwards over the final 200m.
 
GRANNY RED SHOES – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
ZIZZIS – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have been galloped on the near hind leg and displayed abrasions to the outside of the near hind cannon.
 
 
RACE 8: THE STAR GOLD COAST $2M MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC – 1200M
 
SEBRAKATE – Slow to begin.
 
GALA MISS – Slow to begin.
 
CHAMPAGNE BOOM – Commenced to overrace passing the 900m and had to be restrained from the heels of COURSESHEWILL.
 
UNITE AND CONQUER – Near the 150m was eased when tightened for room between COURSESHEWILL, which was taken out slightly by THE ODYSSEY and MOVIE ROLE, which was taken in by CZARSON, which shifted in and away from HIGHTAIL. Stewards advised T. Clark (CZARSON) to allow sufficient racing room to his inside when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Raced four wide without cover throughout. When questioned as to the performance jockey A. Hyeronimus stated that after being slow to begin he was obliged to race three wide without cover throughout. Nonetheless he was disappointed with the horse’s performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BETAIMA – Raced four wide throughout.
 
HIGHTAIL – Raced four wide throughout.
 
BETTER REFLECTION – Eased when tightened for room near the 300m. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 9: WOODFORD RESERVE $1M MAGIC MILLIONS CUP – 1400M
 
SIR BACCHUS – Slow to begin.
 
SMARTEDGE – Slow to begin.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Overraced in the early stages. Brushed passing the 300m.
 
SAMBRO – Passing the 300m shifted out and brushed SHOGUN SUN.
 
BEL SONIC – Near the 250m shifted out and bumped HUSSON EAGLE.
 
CADOGAN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
HUSSON EAGLE – Raced three wide throughout. Cast a near fore plate in running.
