From Gold Coast Stewards’ Room – Tuesday 30/4/2019
 
Licensees M. Morrison and I. Miller were each fined $200 under AR122(i) and AR123(i) for riding a registered thoroughbred outside the confines of a registered training facility without an approved helmet or vest.
 
Supplementary
 
As J. Guthmann-Chester was indisposed due to illness Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
As S. Doyle was overweight Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Doyle was subsequently fined $200.
 
Race 1 – TAB Maiden Handicap – 1100m
 
The start was delayed when Karaage reared after being fractious leaving the enclosure and in doing so dislodged jockey M. Hellyer. In this incident jockey Hellyer’s saddle broke, which required jockey Hellyer having to reweigh. After eventually being loaded Karaagebecame fractious in the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 11.58 a.m. on veterinary advice. Newstead, which was drawn beside Karaage, also underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. All monies invested on Karaage were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 11.58 a.m.:-

Trainer S. Morrisey was advised that Karaage would require a veterinary clearance and must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
Phobetor – Slow to begin and a short distance later was hampered by Newstead
 
Potro Duro – Shortly after the start was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of Vainity. Near the 800m was steadied when tightened for room by Tricky Mix, which shifted in. App B. Nothdurft (Tricky Mix) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
Netherlands – Near the 800m eased when bumped by Potro Duro and tightened for room. Then overraced for some distances thereafter.
 
Tricky Mix – Inclined to hang out in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 2 – The Great Northern Maiden Plate – 1400m
 
Luvyoulongtime – Slow to begin. Steadied away from the heels of Nodibbag, which was weakening rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay in in the home straight placing its rider at some disadvantage.
 
Lotus Leaf – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance jockey J. Lloyd expressed his disappointment but was unable to offer any tangible explanation.
 
One More Cast – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m was inconvenienced when tightened for room between Gratuitous and Brahma Armour, which laid out.
 
Brahma Armour – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Hez Exceptional – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Poster Man – Eased approaching the winning post when tightened for room between Creative Moss and Brahma Armour, which shifted in slightly.
 
Gratuitous – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
Nodibbag – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Trainer I. Livingstone reported that following the disappointing performance the gelding would now be retired from his stable.
 
 
Race 3 – Mcilliams Hazy Days QTIS 2YO Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
The start was delayed when Chico Milagro cast a near hind plate. After being reshod the colt underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight jockey R. Fradd the rider of fourth placegetter Rothenburg viewed the patrol footage to ascertain if he had grounds to lodge an objection against the second placegetter Chico Milagro (B. Stewart) over the concluding stages. Jockey Fradd elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was subsequently declared.
 
Cheeky Chops – Began awkwardly.
 
Brocky ­­- Began awkwardly and made contact with the off side barrier partition. Raced wide throughout.

Headspace – Began awkwardly and made contact with the off side barrier partition. Inclined to lay in in the early stages. Hung in throughout and proved difficult to ride out in the home straight.
 
Flybridge – Bumped at the start and again a short distance later by Headspace.
 
Lets Torque A Deel – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
Rothenburg – Over the concluding stages was steadied from the heels of Chico Milagro, which shifted out. Raced wide without cover throughout.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the riding and handling of Eleven Eleven. After taking evidence from jockey A. Allen and trainer G. Hickman the Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date and time to be fixed. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a poor post race recovery.
 
 
Race 4 – Canadian Club QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
Valadyium – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
Cabalo Escuro – Began awkwardly. Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
Honey Baby – Began awkwardly. Held up upon straightening and obliged to shift to the inside of Snaccident to secure clear running
 
Real Sweet – Hampered at the start.
 
Business As Usual – Slow to begin.
 
Aunty Snow – Slow to begin. Leaving the 700m was steadied when placed in restricted room between Business As Usual and     Qualify both of which shifted ground.
 
La Trioli – Bumped at the start. Upon straightening was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of Champagne Toots. Raced wide throughout.
 
Champagne Toots – Laid in near the 200m and bumped All Boom.
 
All Boom – Bumped near the 200m. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Qualify – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m and near the 50m had to be eased from the heels of Purroni.  Raced wide throughout.
 
Luana – Raced wide throughout.
 
Purroni – Raced wide throughout.
 
Regal Romance – Raced four wide without cover for the majority. Lost a near fore plate in running.
 
Snaccident – Lost a near fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 5 – The Hahn Ultra Crisp Gluten Free Sprint BenchMark 65 Handicap – 900m
 
After being loaded in the barriers Solo Melody reared and in doing so bumped its head heavily. Solo Melody was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.14 p.m. on veterinary advice. Wirnpa, which was drawn beside Solo Melody was also examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Jockey A. Spinks (Wirnpa) was struck on the left knee by Solo Melody in this incident and was able to fulfil his riding engagement.
 
All monies invested on Solo Melody were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.14 p.m.:-

Trainer B. Gill was advised a further barrier certificate and veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
 
Singular Sensation – Began awkwardly.
 
Stellar Power – Overraced in the middle stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Leaving the 600m was steadied to avoid the heels of Tapa, which shifted in. App S. Lacy (Tapa) was reprimanded for shifting ground when insufficiently clear. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
Wirnpa – Leaving the 500m shifted out in an effort to improve and bumped Warface on a number of occasions and as a consequence was held up until a point near the 300m.
 
Warface – Bumped by Wirnpa on a number of occasions rounding the home turn and upon straightening.
 
Round Mountain Gem – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Star Of Harada – Raced wide throughout.
 
Arrow Express – App H. English reported that the filly did not appreciate today’s soft track conditions.
 
 
Race 6 – Mountain Goat Class 3 Plate – 1800m
 
Foxy Affair – Slow to begin.
 
Spanish Hurricane – Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a consequence was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1000m.
 
Shahzade – Leaving the 200m was bumped by Tiponi and became unbalanced.
 
Mr Dumont – Shifted a near fore plate in running.
 
Tiponi - Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that the filly shifted in abruptly passing the 1300m and again leaving the 200m. Jockey Du Plessis noted that on both occasions another runner improved to the filly’s outside, which indicated to him that it may benefit from the removal of the blinkers at its next start. When Tiponi shifted in leaving the 200m jockey Du Plessis was obliged to stop riding and straighten the filly.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5.
 
 
Race 7 – Pernod Open Handicap – 1200m
 
Legal Counsel – Began awkwardly making contact with the off side barrier partition.
 
Champagne Rock – Began awkwardly.
 
Dreams Aplenty – Slow to begin and bumped shortly after. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Gold Symphony – Near the 800m shifted in and bumped Divine Dice. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Divine Dice – Bumped near the 800m.
 
Bold Chance – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Upon return to scale jockey R. Wiggins reported that the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities, nonetheless stable representative M. Sharpe undertook to have a endoscopic examination performed, the results of which will be forwarded to Stewards.
 
Petrology – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Annatime – Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course back to the inside of Hard Stride to maintain clear running.
 
Top Tone – Raced wide throughout.
 
Wild ‘N’ Famous – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8 – Patron Tequila Ratings Band 0-70 Handicap – 1300m
 
Enterprise March underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was found to be lame in the near fore leg. Enterprise March was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2.42 p.m. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to gelding racing again.
 
App J. Hodge who was a late replacement for App J. Guthmann-Chester claimed only 1½ of his 3 kilos.
 
Blooming Tycoon – Bumped at the start. Near the 1000m was steadied when tightened for room between Lyrical Prince and Smart As Attack, which shifted in after being bumped on the hind quarters by I Like Candy.
 
Lyrical Prince – Bumped at the start.
 
The Kingdom – Slow to begin and hampered a short distance after. Near the 1000m was steadied when tightened for room between Our Rocky and Wack’em, which laid in away from Shadyvale Star.
 
Invinciboy – Began awkwardly.
 
Tempete Rouge – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m commenced to race fiercely and continued to do so for some distance thereafter and as a result had to be checked from the heels of Lyrical Prince near the 800m, 700m and again passing the 600m. Trainer M. Costa was advised that the mare would be required to officially trial prior to racing again.
 
Wack’em – Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 1000m laid in and away from Shadyvale Star and had to be steadied from the heels Phabeni. Raced wide throughout.
 
Cruz De Vega – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
I Like Candy – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Shadyvale Star – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
Phabeni – Raced wide throughout.
