Race 1 – TAB Maiden Handicap – 1800m
 
BRANDS HATCH – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the below market performance, Jockey A. Allen stated that his instructions were to attempt to obtain a position with cover to allow the gelding to finish the race off. He added that after travelling well throughout with cover, the gelding was under pressure from the 600m and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
KEYHOLE – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages before improving forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1200m. Rider A. Fancourt reported at scale that her mount commenced to weaken from the 600m and failed to finish the race off. She added that in her opinion the mare would be better suited racing over shorter distances and also with a drop back in class.
 
SOUNDS GREAT – When approaching the turn near the 1400m, commenced to over-race and got its head in the air. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J. Taylor stated that his instructions were to attempt to lead if possible. He added that after obtaining a forward position in the early stages, the gelding commenced to over-race and had to be restrained from heels at the 1400m. He added following this, the gelding then travelled well to a point near the 600m where the gelding commenced to weaken and as a result he desisted from pressuring his mount in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Co-Trainer B. Guy advised that the gelding would be retired from the stable. Stewards advised Mr Guy that the gelding would be required to undergo an endoscopic examination, the results of which were to be provided to Stewards.
 
FALAEB – Jockey H. Poland was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out to the end of the race.
 
Jockey G. Colless (SAVVY ACQUISITION) was reprimanded for use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful of the total whip use and also took into consideration his good record in relation to this rule.
 
Jockey S. Lacy (ZEDGE) was fined the sum of $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 2 – UNI Fitness Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
BONNE VIE – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Rounding the home turn near the 500m was hampered and forced wider by HONOVI which was bumped by BLACKLOG (A. Chau) which shifted out in order to improve. Jockey A. Chau was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
 
BEYOND DESIRE – Tightened for room at the start and was bumped by BONNE VIE.
 
BLOOMING LILY – Raced 3 wide for the majority of event.
 
FAKE TAN – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
LUNAFREYA – Raced wide throughout. Hampered and forced wider near the 400m.
 
BACKLOG – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, stable representative advised that the gelding after being spelled had trialled impressively leading in to todays event. He also added that the tongue tie was applied for the first time today which contributed to the improved performance. Stewards noted his comments.
 
Jockey G. Colless (BEYOND DESIRE) was fined the sum of $100 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
Jockey R. Plumb (SHISHAQ) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
Jockey A. Chau (BACKLOG) was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
Race 3 – Flavour Asia QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
The start was delayed when CHARMACYS proved reluctant to load. Trainer K. Fogden was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.
 
The start was further delayed when ANGELS LANDING reared in the barriers dislodging rider L. Dittman. Jockey Dittman advised that he did not require the attention of medical staff and that he was able to fulfil his riding engagement.
 
FILLYRAE CYRUS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 400m and 200m.
 
LETS CONQUER – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight and when laying in under pressure after passing the 200m had to be stopped and straightened by its rider.
 
POETIC CHOICE – Near the 800m had to be steadied from the heels of BECANDLENI which shifted in when not sufficiently clear and as a result then commenced to over-race and had to be restrained from the heels of BECANDLENI. Jockey Anthony Allen (BECANDLENI) was issued with a reprimand and advised to give greater clearance when shifting ground.
 
CHARMACYS – Raced wide early before improving forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
DEFACTOR – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
BRONCKS – Jockey J. Taylor reported at scale that his mount raced greenly throughout the event.
 
BECANDLENI – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey Anthony Allen explained that his instructions were to lead and after being able to comply with his instructions, the filly was under pressure from the 600m and weakened noticeably in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained a laceration to the inside of the off hind cannon consistent with being galloped on.
 
 
Race 4 – Ric Dellosa Colour Printing Executive Class 4 Handicap – 1400m
 
Trainer B. Smith was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey L. Dittman on GREGORY.
 
As Jockey Matthew Palmer was stood down following Race 2 by the QAS Officers, he was replaced on BIG ARJAY by Jockey B. Ainsworth. Jockey Palmer was advised that he must provide a medical clearance before riding again.
 
Upon return to scale Jockey G. Colless (SOARING HEART) advised Stewards that near the 400m some of his packing became dislodged from under his saddle. After viewing the patrol footage, Stewards confirmed that the packing became dislodged near the 400m.  Following this, Jockey Colless weighed in within the parameters.
 
Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey R. Palmer the rider of COCO FASHION which finished 3rd against the 2nd placegetter ARGIE BARGIE (J. Taylor) on the grounds of alleged interference approaching the 200m. After viewing the patrol films and taking evidence from all parties, the Stewards were of the opinion that the degree of interference suffered by COCO FASHION and bearing in mind the manner in which both runners finished the race off, Stewards were satisfied that if it had not been for this interference, COCO FASHION would have finished ahead of ARGIE BARGIE and therefore upheld the objection and amended the placings to read:-

COCO FASHION – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 200m had to be steadied between JUNCTION and ARGIE BARGIE which shifted in under pressure causing COCO FASHION to alter course to obtain clear running.
 
JUNCTION – Bumped a short distance after the start by BIG ARJAY which shifted out. Over-raced when being restrained in the early stages to obtain cover. When attempting to obtain cover, however, was obliged to race 3 wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
ARGIE BARGIE – Raced 3 wide from the 800m.
 
SOARING HEART – Held up upon entering the home straight until approaching the 100m.
 
 
Race 5 – Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild Class 2 Handicap – 900m
 
INKBLOT – Slow to begin.
 
BURNING SUCCESS – Slow into stride. Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
HOLDIN MY OWN – After being slow to begin was then tightened for room and lost ground. Raced wide for majority of event. Near the 600m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of MISS MAKEPEACE and was obliged to shift wider on the track.
 
ELEGANT ZOUS – Raced wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
MISS MAKEPEACE – Raced wide for the majority of event.
 
FLIM FLAN MAN – Shortly after entering the home straight had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between ELEGANT ZOUS and HOLDIN MY OWN both of which shifted ground.
 
PATCHES – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
INKY BAY – Jockey Andrew Spinks reported at scale that he lost the use of his near side rein for a short distance over the final 50m.
 
 
Race 6 – Griffith University Gold Coast BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1800m
 
Trainer B. Smith was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey T. Allen on CANONGATE.
 
Jockey M. Hellyer (SUNDAY SESSION) was dislodged on pulling up. After galloping back to the parade ring, the gelding was recaptured. Jockey Hellyer was examined by the QAS Officers and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
RAINS APLENTY – Tightened for room at the start. Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
CATCH ME LATAR – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight and near the 100m Jockey J. Taylor was obliged to stop and straighten.
 
IRON CRAFT – Shortly after the start was tightened for room and lost ground.
 
RICHEST – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 1000m.
 
SUNDAY SESSION - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which after leading the event throughout weakened in the home straight, revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the geldings next race start.
 
 
Race 7 – Coca Cola Amatil BenchMark 62 Handicap – 1100m
 
Trainer Michael Costa was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey R. Plumb as the rider on SMUG SATISFACTION.
 
Trainer B. Witt was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey S. Doyle as the rider on TABROBANE.
 
ACCOUNTANT – Slow to begin.
 
TABROBANE – Tightened for room a short distance after the start between LIGREB and DOOM which shifted out.
 
REMOLAD – Shortly after the start when being placed under pressure put in an awkward stride. Raced greenly in the home straight and near the 200m after improving onto the heels of LIGREB shifted in abruptly.
 
THE BUMBLEBEE– Near the 800m had to be eased from the heels of SUPERSONIC BOOM which shifted in and away from SMUG SATISFACTION.
 
LIGREB – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
GRANDIOSO – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
SMUG SATISFACTION – Held up rounding the home turn and then in the early stages of the home straight when attempting to secure clear running, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of SUPERSONIC BOOM. As a consequence was disappointed for a run, was obliged to steady and was held up until approaching the 100m.
 
SUPERSONIC BOOM – Near the 300m bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced momentarily.
 
FUJI FLYER – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 8 – Personalised Vending Class 1 Handicap – 1200m
 
Stewards permitted App. S. Tomlinson (AMERICAN SUMMER) to only claim 1kg of his 3kg allowance.
 
GREY SKIES – Began awkwardly. Near the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of WOLF TALES. A short distance later near the 600m, again had to be restrained after improving onto heels and lost ground.
 
ELIXIR – Near the 800m had to be eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of DEPTHS BELOW.
 
AMERICAN SUMMER – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of event.
 
MAKEMYDAY – Approaching the 200m had to be steadied away from the heels of GREY SKIES which shifted in when under pressure. App. M. Nakao (GREY SKIES) was advised by Stewards that she should have attempted to straighten her mount quicker than she did on this occasion.
 
ALL SHIRAZ – In the early stages of the home straight, shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running.
 
BOZEMAN – Over the concluding stages, shifted out resulting in the rider having to straighten his mount.
