GENERAL

As M. Palmer was indisposed due to injury Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: Lloyds Auctioneers And Valuers Class 4 Handicap -1100m

LORD OF DREAMZ – Slow to begin. Inclined to overrace in the middle stages.

Race 2: Lloyds National Classic Car Auctions Class 5 Handicap – 1800m

NORDIC SHOW – Slow into stride.

GEOMETRIST – Raced ungenerously for a short distance approaching the 1350m.

Race 3: Lloyds National Motorcyle & Marine Auctions QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 900m

INDIAN DREAMER was declared a late scratching at 1.08 p.m. by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice after the gelding was found to have sustained a head injury prior to arriving on course. Co-trainer T. Edmonds was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

ROCK WITH ME – Trainer K. Schweida advised the intention would be to settle the horse midfield or worse if circumstances permit. An announcement was made to this effect. The horse was ridden accordingly.

TO DEM WITH LOVE – Slow into stride. Obliged to steady and alter course near the 100m.

HAIL MANHATTAN – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout and inclined to lay in over the final 300m.

LA DAME – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

MISS WHITTINGTON – Began moderately. Raced greenly throughout and inclined to lay in at various stages of the event. Near the 100m shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider

DANITES – Ran off slightly rounding the home turn.

CATE RULES – Lost an off hind plate in running.

Race 4: Lloyds National Machinery Auctions BM 65 Handicap – 900m

INKY BAY – Fractious in the barriers and got its head down on two occasions and then began awkwardly and shifted out. Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos later reported that the mare had sustained some abrasions to its head, which may have occurred when the mare lunged forward in the gates.

KILLERMAN’S RUN – Bumped on jumping.

INVINCORE – Blundered on jumping momentarily unbalancing its rider.

BEWARE – Overraced approaching the home turn and was then obliged to steady from the heels of KILLERMAN’S RUN. Then had some difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 200m.

PAPER TRADE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

Race 5: Lloyds Nationwide Asset Valuations Maiden Handicap – 1200m

KERBSIDE KAOS – Fractious in the barriers. Steadied near the 1000m when tightened for room  when TENNESSEE NIKKA improved from a four wide to a three wide position.

TENNESSEE NIKKA – After becoming fractious in the barriers and lunging forward, the filly was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start. Near the 1000m when shifting from a four wide to a three wide position caused tightening to its inside. Near the 200m shifted in momentarily tightening HALLOWED GIRL, which was racing to its inside. App N. Fazackerley (TENNESSEE NIKKA) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained lacerations to the off hind fetlock, which would be consistent with the filly being galloped on.

LETHAL ATTRACTION – Shortly after the start was effected shifted in bumping with SUCCEEDANDCONQUER to its inside. Forced three wide passing the 700m.

SUCCEEDANDCONQUER – Shortly after jumping was bumped by LETHAL ATTRACTION. When asked to comment on today’s below market performance Jockey G. Colless stated that after travelling well in the early and middle stages failed to respond to his riding in the home straight and proved disappointing.

TERZO MILLENNIO – Near the 700m commenced to overrace, shifted away from the rails to a one off position forcing LETHAL ATTRACTION three wide.

HALLOWED GIRL – Momentarily tightened for room near the 200m.

Race 6: Lloyds National Art Auctions Maiden Handicap – 1800m

WHITE COLLAR – Slow into stride. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance today Trainer K. Fogden stated that at the horse’s most recent start at Ballina the gelding was ridden more forward in the event, which is in contrast to it’s usual racing pattern. Ms Fogden added today the gelding was able to settle and was ridden in a manner that allowed it to finish the race off strongly adding the step up in distance of today’s event was a contibuting factor to the improved performance. Stewards noted her explanation.

PRINCESS ARABELLA – Raced three wide early before obtaining a position outside the leader passing the 1400m.

STEPTOE – When approaching the 1000m shifted in, which resulted in ASCENSUS shifting in and away from that runner and in doing so ARGYLE SOLITAIRE had to be steadied. Raced three wide until obtaining a position midfield with cover near the 900m.

ARGYLE SOLITAIRE – Steadied for racing room when awkwardly placed near the 1000m.

ELECTRIC ELLYSE – Raced three wide for the final 1000m.

CANISTER – Raced three wide with cover for the final 1000m.

ASCENSUS – Forced inward near the 1000m. Performed below market expectations and was sent for a post race swab.

LADY CONCETTA – Hung out rounding the home turn.

BUSINESS AS USUAL – When questioned regarding the positioning of the filly in  a more forward position in today’s event Jockey B. Ainsworth stated that from the better barrier draw today the filly began well without being pressured. Jockey Ainsworth added that at its most recent start the filly was slow to begin and this combined with the step up in distance to 1800m resulted in the filly racing in a more forward position today.

Race 7: Lloyds International Aviation Services Fillies & Mares Class 2 Plate – 1200m

MADAM MOUTON – Slow into stride and failed to muster early speed trailing the field throughout. Jockey A. Fancourt stated that the mare felt awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer P. Robbins was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the mare racing again.

OOSHE  - Began awkwardly and knuckled over before mustering speed and racing in a forward position.

AXELLA - Began awkwardly.

ZOLLIKON MISS - Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

PIGINARKI – Inside the final 100m improved onto the heels of COURSESHEWILL and was unable to be fully tested over the remainder of the event.

LIGREB – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a minor laceration to the off fore cannon consistent with being galloped on.

Race 8: Lloyds National Prestige Jewellery Auctions Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 Plate – 1200m

Trainer M. Dunn sought approval from Stewards to scratch SPOT ON SPUD. Mr Dunn stated due to the strong wind conditions he was of the view that the track had improved to a point that the gelding would not perform to the best of its ability in these conditions. In the interests of the gelding Stewards approved his requestand declared SPOT ON SPUD a late scratching at 4.28 p.m.Mr Dunn gave Stewards an assurity that he would not start the gelding on similar surfaces. Stewards also directed that a swab sample be taken from SPOT ON SPUD.

CANAPES - Began awkwardly
BRADBURY - Slow into stride.
HADRIAN – Jockey G. Colless was reminded of his obligations under the whip Rule.
CYCLONE KAYCEE – When asked to comment regarding the gelding’s performance Jockey E. Ljung felt that the gelding was up in grade and would be best suited at weaker venues.
