RACE 1: PLAY GOLD COAST BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 1800 METRES
 
TAVION PRINCE – Apprentice L Kilner reported that her instructions were to attempt to get cover, however with no early pace she found herself in the lead and the gelding commenced to race keenly thereafter and led the field by a larger margin than she had intended.
 
SENRIMA TIDE – Near the 300 metres, shifted out and bumped WINDEMERE.
 
WINDERMERE – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted in shortly after the start, hampering KIMPEMBE.
 
I COULD DO BETTER – Rider W Pike replaced rider R Maloney as he was unable to make the allocated weight due to issues with the jockey’s spa, therefore no action further action was taken in respect of this matter. Raced three-wide in the early stages.
 
OLYMPIC CLASS – Shifted out shortly after the start, hampering PICKA PLUM.
 
 
RACE 2: MG GOLD COAST BAT OUT OF HELL 900 METRES
 
JUST ORM – The gelding lost its of fore plate during the event.
 
SPURCRAFT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
USMANOV – Passing the 600 metres, when steadying threw its head, was inclined to shift and became awkward at the heels of SUGAR BOOM.
 
SUGAR BOOM – The mare lost its off hind plate during the event.
 
NIEDORP – Slow to begin.
 
PLAGUE STONE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SOPHIELLA – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 3: HEINEKEN GOLD COAST CUP 2400 METRES
 
LORD BELVEDERE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
HUMBOLT CURRENT – Pulled hard in the early stages.
 
ALAKAHAN – Buffeted on jumping. Raced three-wide with cover leaving the 1200 metres.
 
BROCSON – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Following the event, rider L Cassidy was assessed by the Queensland Ambulances Service and was stood down from his remaining engagements on medical grounds.
 
 
RACE 4: 102.9 HOT TOMATO GOLDMARKET 1200 METRES
 
CAPITAL CONNECTION – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
STAMPE – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
WESTLINK – Shortly after the start was steadied off the heels of CAPITAL CONNECTION, which rolled outwards. Was momentarily held up near the 300 metres.
 
WISDOM OF WATER – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
 
RACE 5: TAB KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL CLASSIC 1200 METRES
 
SUBTERRANEAN – Jumped away awkwardly and was then crowded and buffeted for a short distance. Rider N Rawiller had his licence suspended for eight (8) days pursuant to AR132(5) in that he used his whip on seventeen (17) occasions in the race, being three (3) more than permitted with the suspension to commence at midnight on 15 May 2021 and to expire at midnight on 23 May 2021.
 
RANCH HAND – Shortly after the start was crowded momentarily between DEBUSSY and APPLE TART. Was unable to improve making the turn into the home straight.
 
LE FORCE – Struck the fence en route to the mounting yard. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Poor performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
RHAPSODY ROSE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
APPLE TART – Rider B Thompson replaced rider R Maloney as he was unable to make the allocated weight due to issues with the jockey’s spa, therefore no action further action was taken in respect of this matter. Near the 900 metres had to be steadied off the heels of BABY WONG, which shifted in. M Palmer, rider of BABY WONG, was reminded of his obligations to show greater care when shifting ground.
 
 
RACE 6: JOHNNIE WALKER GOLD COAST BRACELET 1800 METRES
 
TYCOON EVIE – Was held up and unable to improve between the 600 metres and the 400 metres. Beaten $4.20 favourite. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
FORCE OF WILL – Held up from the 600 metres to the 350 metres.
 
GRACE AND HARMONY – Raced three-wide throughout. Near the 800 metres, had to be eased outwards away from the heels of GUNMETAL GIRL, which steadied slightly in front.
 
GUNMETAL GIRL – Jumped awkwardly outwards. Raced three-wide throughout.
 
SEDUCTION QUEEN – Raced three-wide in the early and middle stages.  
 
SIGNORA NERA – Inconvenienced on jumping.
 
I PROMISE YOU – Rider R Stewart replaced rider L Cassidy as he was stood down from his riding engagement on medical grounds. Raced three-wide in the early stages.
 
 
RACE 7: BRANDONS GOLD COAST GUINEAS 1200 METRES
 
AMISH BOY – Was slightly slow to begin and then lost ground when crowded between runners. Raced four-wide throughout.
 
ROCKETING BY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Was unable to secure clear running between the 400 metres and the 200 metres.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Slow to begin. Was hampered shortly after the start and had to be eased of the heels of LORD OLYMPUS, which rolled outwards. Raced three-wide with cover throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying signs of mild thumps post-race.
 
LORD OLYMPUS – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
MASTER RED – Proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
 
KISUKANO – The filly bled from the near side nostril following the event. Trainer M Nolan gave an undertaking to have the filly scoped and the results to be reported to the Stewards.
 
THE ACTUARY – Rider G Boss replaced rider R Maloney as he was unable to make the allocated weight due to issues with the jockey’s spa, therefore no action further action was taken in respect of this matter.
 
 
RACE 8: A. D. HOLLINDALE STAKES 1800 METRES
 
FIFTY STARS – Jumped awkwardly outwards, bumping VANNA GIRL in on to AVILIUS.
 
AVILIUS – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
HOMESMAN – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
ZAAKI – Raced three-wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
 
MELODY BELLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Had to be eased shortly after passing the 200 metres. The mare lost its off fore plate during the event.
 
VANNA GIRL – Rider M Zahra replaced rider B Stewart as he was unable to make the allocated weight due to issues with the jockey’s spa, therefore no action further action was taken in respect of this matter.
 
TWO ILLICIT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
THE CANDY MAN – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 9: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS SILK STOCKING 1400 METRES
 
YAMAZAKI – Raced wide with cover.
 
SOFIE’S GOLD CLASS – Slow in to stride.
 
AKAGE – Raced wide with cover.
 
WILLO TITTO – Raced wide without cover.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Stewards permitted rider J Guthmann-Chester to 0.5kg over the allotted weight. Was momentarily held up near the 500 metres.
