BAUHINIA DRUM – The explanation offered by Trainer L Kiernan for the late notification of the rider was accepted. En-route to the barrier rider G Hayes was dislodged. Acting on a report from the Ambulance Officers that Jockey Hayes had suffered an injury to his shoulder, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1.17pm. Stewards ordered that all successful wagers placed on the gelding prior to 1.17pm be subject to the following deductions :

8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
9 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets

Jockey Hayes was notified that he must produce a medical clearance prior to riding again.

Race 3: Celebrations Maiden Plate 1000 Metres

Prior to correct weight being declared , Jockey M Stephens the rider of 3rd placegetter SHEZROYAL, requested to view the photo finish image. Having also viewed the photo finish image, the Stewards consulted with the judge. Subsequently it was decided that it was deemed inconclusive that there was a margin between the 2nd placed DE LOSKO and 3rd placed SHEZROYAL. As such, the placings were amended to : ON A COMET 1st, DE LOSKO and SHEZROYAL dead heat for 2nd and ELITE ENCOUNTER 4th. Also prior to correct weight being declared, Stewards viewed the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether RED SMOKE had been afforded a fair start. It was established that when the start was effected, RED SMOKE, which had been restless in the barrier, stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer, Mr P Pengelly was subsequently advised that prior to racing again the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate.

ELITE ENCOUNTER – The explanation offered by Trainer C Garland for the late declaration of the rider was accepted.

THORBEN – Slow to begin.
