Supplementary Report
After an initial track inspection at 10:45am and having concerns with a 30 metre wet section near the 400 metres. Stewards escorted a majority of the riders for a further track inspection at 11:30am and the decision was made to start Race 1 at 1:30pm to give the 30 metre section of the track extra time to dry. All other races were run approximately 25 minutes apart.
RACE 1 – WELCOME BACK TO RACING CLASS B HANDICAP 850M
SUPER KIDS – Was slow into stride, raced wide throughout, rider reported shortly after the start both horse and rider were struck by flying sand and horse failed to respond after that.
DOLCI – Raced wide throughout.
BAGGER NEMO – Raced wide throughout and bumped by another coming around the home turn.
KING KAI – Raced wide throughout.
LA CELESTINA – Hung out around the home turn.
 
RACE 2 – IRON JACK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
IQELA – Raced wide throughout.
MAJIANG – Declared a late scratching 9:00am on advice from trainer that was unable to be loaded onto the float.
MISS DAISY – Lost near hind shoe approaching the 850 metres, raced wide throughout, rider reported failed to handle the sand track.
TATACHILLA – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 3 – MEMBER FOR GLADSTONE GLENN BUTCHER BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M
MIA HOST – Was hampered at the start when outside runner jumped in at the start.
LAYLA’S LAD – Raced wide throughout.
EXOCET ROCKET – Jumped in at the start hampering another runner.
 
 
 
 
 
RACE 4 – CONGRATULATIONS TONY MCMAHON ’50 YEARS RACE CALLING’ OPEN HANDICAP 1194M
AL’S BRIEFS – Was hampered by another runner at the start and raced wide throughout.
UBIRR ROCK – Jumped out at the start hampering another runner, raced wide for the majority and lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
LIBERTY’S GIFT – Raced wide throughout.
PORTSEA – Stewards permitted jockey Tasha Chambers to ride 2kg overweight as there was no other suitable riders. Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 5 – GLADSTONE CUP DECEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1517M
PLAIN ‘N’ SIMPLE – Raced wide for the majority, Jockey Mark Barnham issued with a reprimand for excessive use of the whip.
IDALIA’S DREAM – Raced wide throughout.
TELLOFF – Jumped awkwardly.
