Race 1: CONGRATULATIONS “ON THE BIT” AWARD WINNERS MAIDEN PLATE 850 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards were notified that the photo finish equipment had failed to operate. Acting under AR214(4) the Stewards determined that the correct placings had been declared by the Judge and correct weight was authorised.

There was a further delay declaring correct weight when the connections of the second placed horse ALL GAIN wished to view the video coverage of finish. After viewing the replays the connections were satisfied with the placings and correct weight was declared.

TURF TIGER – Begun awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

CALL ME BEL – Declared a late scratching at 12.45pm on veterinary advice after suffering an injury while being transporting to the races. The connections were advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.

EMPEROR’S REWARD – N Morton was an authorised late rider due to no other available riders. Was late scratched at 1.17pm at the barriers after refusing to load. The connections were advised EMPEROR’S REWARD would be required to complete a satisfactory barrier trial prior to its next race day start.

The following deductions applied;

13 cents in the dollar for the win #1INVESTIBLE
12 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #1 INVESTIBLE
16 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place #9 ALL GAIN
13 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place # 4 AWESOME BELL

CELEBRATING – Was slow to begin. Rider R Faehr reported the filly resented the kick back during the running.

THE GIRL IS WILD – Raced wide throughout.


Race 2: BOOK YOUR EASTER FUNCTION RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 HANDICAP 1000 metres

WOODLEY’S GOLD – Was awkward in its action near the 300m and struck the running rail in the home straight dislodging apprentice rider D Graham. D Graham was examined by QAS officers and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagement. WOODLEY’S GOLD was confirmed to be a bleeder and was stood down for the statutory requirements pursuant to AR79(4).

LIEUTENANT – Jumped away awkwardly.

GOSSIAUX – Slow to begin

DESTINATION ROCKS – Failed to muster early speed and lost contact with the field. Rider K Gates advised she had been forced wider on the track in the early stages by GOSSIAUX and the gelding would be better suited to further distance in future starts.


Race 3: FIND US ON FACEBOOK CLASS B HANDICAP 1194 metres

CLUSTERFEST – Begun awkwardly then hung outwards over the early stages losing contact with the field. Trainer L Kiernan advised he would be sending CLUSTERFEST for a spell prior to resuming racing.

ROCKSHORE – Fractious in the barriers. Reared at the start losing several lengths. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding. Improved wide through the middle stages.

Race 4: INGREY ELECTRICAL SERVICES OPEN HANDICAP 1194 metres

GALVARINO – Raced wide over the early stages.

GRANDE CASADORA – Raced wide over the early stages.


Race 5: DICEYS LIQUOR WAREHOUSE RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1517 metres

JONDY QUALO – Rider H Phillips reported the gelding failed to handle the sand track conditions.

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Raced wide over the early stages. Laid outwards throughout the home straight.

RAY’S JUNCTION – Raced wide prior to giving ground over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to detect any abnormalities.

AIRLIE MAN – Hung outwards over the early stages. Rider M Crawford was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner he used his whip.

ON THE TWEED – Raced wide throughout.

TEYA – Slow into stride.
