After hearing evidence from Ms. Wiseman, as well as Jockeys K Rockett (ROTHSTOCK’N’BELLA) and K Stone (WILLIWIN SOME) and viewing the available patrol footage, it was established that WILLIWIN SOME which was racing ungenerously in the early stages had shifted in approaching the 1000m making contact on 2 occasions with ROTHSTOCK’N’BELLA, which had a tendency to hang in, causing that gelding to become unbalanced and soon after shift in onto the running of LAPELS which was severely checked. Although Stewards were unable to place full responsibility for the incident on either Jockey Rockett or Stone, both riders were severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).

On returning to scale Jockey Ms. B Thomson who rode 3rd placegetter COUTAINVILLE lodged an objection against RANGERZANE (App. Ms. R Shred) being placed 2nd on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight. After considering evidence from connections and viewing the available patrol footage, Stewards, whilst conceding that RANGERZANE had shifted out near the 200m impeding the running of COUTAINVILLE, were of the opinion that the margin of 1 length between the 2 horses at the finish of the race was in excess of any ground lost by COUTAINVILLE in the incident. Subsequently Ms. Thomson’s objection was dismissed and Correct Weight was declared on the semaphored numbers.
