Stewards question trainer George Sitek into the mare’s seemly improved performance, he indicated that in his opinion the mare appreciated today’s drop back in distance and the track conditions were more to the liking of the mare than as compared to that of its previous starts. Stewards noted the explanation. Lost a near fore shoe in running.

After reviewing race footage and considering the evidence from the riders and connections, stewards found that whilst STORM ANCHOR was bumped by SIOUXSIE approaching the home turn stewards believe that contact was minimal and neither rider was hampered at that point of the race. In the straight it appeared that SIOUXSIE laid in slightly whilst tiring making minimal contact with STORM ANCHOR however both riders were able to continue to ride their mounts to the line. Stewards could not be satisfied either incident was sufficient to reverse the placings the protest was dismissed and correct weight given.
