GENERAL
 
As no Judging officials had not been appointed for this meeting, QRIC Stewards fulfil this role.

Race 1: THANKS TO OUR PATRONS BENCHMARK 50 H’CAP 850M
 
The start of this event was delayed when QAS delayed in arriving to course
 
WINDQUEST was examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival to the barriers at the request of the rider and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:48 pm on veterinary advice that the mare was lame in the off hind leg. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on WINDQUEST be refunded with the following deductions applicable.
 
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets
 
Trainer M Bailey was advised that WINDQUEST will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
FIRST BID – Slow to begin
 
ROCKSHORE – Bounded on jumping. Raced wide throughout
 
MAGIC PANTHER – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight,
 
MR FUJI – Was fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Resented the kickback when trailing the field.
 
EL NINO’S CHOICE – Raced wide throughout. Near the 300m commenced to weaken badly before collapsing at a point approaching the winning post and failed to finish the race. The on course Veterinarian Surgeon attended to the EL NINO’S CHOICE immediately after the race and found the gelding to have suffered and catastrophic bleeding attack and was deceased on the track. Post mortem samples were taken from the gelding for analysis.
 
Race 2: THANKS TO THE VOLUNTEERS CLASS B H’CAP 1170M
 
Start of the race was delayed to allow for the track to be rolled after the incident in the previous race.
 
SEARCH AND DESTROY – Raced wide throughout
 
AXIS – Resented the kickback when trailing the field and raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages
 
SUPALUX – Approaching the 850m was steadied from the heels of SHENZI who shifted out to obtain clear running. Apprentice R Wilson was reprimanded under AR131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear to do so. Raced wide throughout.
 
CLAIRVUE SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and lost ground
 
Race 3: LEGACY MAIDEN PLATE 1030M

The start of the race was delayed when DATAI became extremely fractious in the enclosure  dislodged its rider and making heavy contact with the ground. The mare was declared a late scratching by way of the Stewards at 3:18pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer K Afford was advised that a warning will be placed the on the mare’s pre race manners.
 
N Morton was subsequently examined by QAS staff and clear to fulfil her remaining engagements.
The start was again delayed when adjustments had to be made to HE’S MCCAW (NZ) bridle.
 
The start was further delayed when TRUE TALLY became fractious when being loaded into the barriers reared and dislodged its rider M CRAWFORD and as a result received injury to his knee and was unable to fulfil his riding engagement. The gelding was declared a late scratching by way of the Stewards at 3:28pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

M Crawford was examined by QAS staff and stood down from his remaining engagements. M Crawford was advised he must obtain a medical clearance before resuming race riding.
 
The start was again delayed when BIG TALK had received an injury to it’s near fore leg in the barriers when TRUE TALLY had become fractious and was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 3:30pm. All monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer C Geran was notified the he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialling again.
EIGHT LETTERS – Raced wide throughout
 
HE’S MCCAW (NZ) – Jumped very awkwardly and lost significant ground and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer W Kuskopf was notified that the gelding will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to the horse racing or trialling again.
MOUNT HIMMLER – Slow to begin. Resented the kickback when trailing the field and raced with its head in the air for some distance.

Race 4: VIETNAM VETERANS ASSOCIATION BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP 1030M
 
SEE FOR YOURSELF – Slow to begin
 
MISTA BUSY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout
 
PRINCE MANITOU – Raced wide throughout
 
ALLENA – Slow to begin
 
GOSSIAUX – Leaving the 850m was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of TAPA which shifted in. App J Molloy was reminded of his obligations when allowing his mount to shift ground.
 
Race 5: GYMPIE RSL VETERANS CUP OPEN H’CAP 1470M
 
The start was delayed when SIP SIP SIP refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 4:43pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SIP SIP SIP be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer K Hill was notified that the mare will be required to undergo one official barrier trial and one barrier certificate successfully to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to the horse racing again.
 
RITCHFORD – Leaving the 1200m was steading when racing in restricted room between MAHRATTA and LAYLA’S LAD. App T Wheeler reported that when trailing the field the gelding resenting the kickback and raced ungenerously with this air and proved disappointing.
 
LAYLA’S LAD – Resented the kickback and raced with a climbing action in the middle stages.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
MINOAN SPIRIT – Weakened from the 300m. Trainer W Kuskopf reported that gelding did not appreciate the sand track in today’s event and with a step up in distance proved disappointing.
