General
Jockey S Wilson who was unable to attend today’s race meeting due to injury was advised he would be required to provide a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Replacements were made as per Race Day Summary.
Race 1: AUSTRALIAN BANANAS / HORTICULTURE INNOVATION CLASS 4 PLATE 900m
Amuleto – Began awkwardly. Laid in near the 850m despite the efforts of App. R Shred placing runners to its inside in restricted room.
Rose Clip – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 850m.
High Dive – Inconvenienced when racing in restricted room for a short distance passing the 850m. Restrained after improving onto heels near the 400m.
Prickles – Shifted in abruptly when in clear running passing the 250m. Jockey W D’Avila advised the mare hung out for the majority. Trainer R Miller was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing manners. Jockey W D’Avila was reprimanded in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 2: JAT TRANSPORT / ORORA FIBRE PACKAGING CLASS B HANDICAP 1000m
Yankee Bubbles - Resuming following a prolonged absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Shifted out near the 500m bumping with another runner. Hung out racing wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the off fore leg. Trainer A Malliff advised Stewards it is now the intention to retire the mare from racing nonetheless Mr Malliff was advised a veterinary clearance would be required should circumstances change.
Way of the Dragon – Reluctant to load. Fractious in the barrier. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer A Cameron was advised the mare would be required to obtain one further barrier certificate prior to next race start.
Centenario – Shifted out abruptly on jumping.
Kalahari Pearl -  Slowly away. Bumped by another runner near the 500m becoming unbalanced.
Rothesay Magic – Slowly away. Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
Sidthekid – Raced wide for the majority.
Race 3: BLENNERS TRANSPORT / MACKAY MARKETING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
Mulligans – Shifted in abruptly on jumping.
Sweet June – Shifted out abruptly on jumping.
Follow the Money – Inconvenienced when tightened between runners on jumping.
Instinction Lass – Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Became unbalanced near the 1100m when buffeted between runners.
Fure – Was racing greenly when reluctant to hold its position near the 1000m.
Kensington Gold – Made heavy contact with the running rail when racing ungenerously passing the 800m.
On returning to scale jockey F Edwards who rode 2nd place getter Hidden Secret indicated to Stewards that it was his intention to lodge an objection against 1st place getter October Storm (R Shred) on the grounds of alleged interference in the home straight. After hearing evidence from connections of both horses and viewing the available patrol footage Stewards, although acknowledging that there had been a significant shift outwards by October Storm impeding the running of Hidden Secret, could not be comfortably satisfied that the ground lost by Hidden Secret as a result was in excess of the 1.75 lengths margin which separated the two runners at the winning post. Subsequently jockey Edwards objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared. Stewards reprimanded App. R Shred for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) and directed her to stop riding and straighten when her mount is shifting ground.
Race 4: LAMANNA PREMIER GROUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200m
Jemily – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer S D’Avila was advised the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily under race day conditions prior to next start.
Donavia – Slowly away.
Strong Will – Slowly away. Was restrained off heals near the 900m.
Little Stryker – Shifted out abruptly in jumping. Lost ground when racing in restricted room near the 750m.
Global Guru – Slowly away. Was forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn.
He’s Terryfied – Was forced wider by another runner rounding the home turn.
Voltaic – Shifted out under riding rounding the home turn forcing runners to its outside wider. Jockey M Abe was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason Sweet Taste had to be checked on straightening to a date in time when all parties can be present.
Race 5: LINDSAY RURAL / LINDSAY TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1500m
Gunga Galunga – Slowly away. Restrained off heels and shifted wider near the 750m.
Unchartered – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
I’m Not Sure – Slowly away.
Backtospec – Bumped with another runner near the 1100m becoming unbalanced.
Short Term – Bumped with another runner near the 1100m becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.
Could I Be – Over-raced in the middle stages.
Casino Evil – Raced wide for the majority.
Speed Eight – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Lightning Dash – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from Cardiac Arythmia. Trainer P Rowe was advised he would be required to provide results of an ECG and further that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to next race start.
Race 6: NUTRANO PRODUCE OPEN CUP HANDICAP 1800m
