Race 1: NORTHERN SUBURBS HOCKEY CLUB IPSWICH C,G&E MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M
 
STRONG AND FAST – Began awkwardly.
 
MAGIC MYSTERY – Whilst being swabbed, blood was observed in one of the horse’s nostrils. A further veterinary examination determined that the blood was due to head trauma, however, trainer L. Birchley was directed to obtain a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to the gelding racing again.
 
Race 2: J & L MACHINING & RACE ENGINES CLASS 6 PLATE – 1020M
 
TAN TAT DIAMOND – Forced wider by CLOSE ENOUGH on the home turn.
 
DAZZLING RED – Rider M. Cahill had some difficulty exercising full use of his whip over the final 70m when racing in close proximity to another runner.
 
KID FLASH – Rider J. Lloyd had some difficulty exercising full use of his whip over the final 70m when racing in close proximity to another runner.
 
CLOSE ENOUGH – Hung out and made the home turn awkwardly.
 
Race 3: LYNDONS QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
BYRON BUOY – Hung out under pressure rounding the home turn and shortly thereafter was obliged to steady from the heels of RUELLA.
 
CABARET CAPER – Disappointed for a run between HIDDEN SECRET and NALSSENDORI near the 150m.
 
GALVARINO – Tightened shortly after the start and was restrained to a position.
 
EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Obliged to steady from the heels of BYRON BUOY approaching the 100m.
 
HIDDEN SECRET – Hung in on jumping, tightening GALVARINO.
 
MISS HOW LONG – Overraced in the early stages.
 
RUELLA – Knuckled on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination determined the filly to have bled from one nostril. Connections were advised that the filly would be required to perform a 1000m gallop in the presence of stewards prior to the resumption of racing.
 
VALADYIUM – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 4: CHANNEL SEVEN QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
CHEEKY CHOPS – Began moderately as the start was effected before mustering speed to settle in a forward position.
 
SMART METEOR – Raced three wide with cover.
 
LUANA – Unable to obtain clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
UNUSUAL AUNT – Raced three wide throughout. When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, jockey R. Fradd explained that after being caught wide he then attempted to go forward to obtain a better position closer to the rail but was unable to do so and the horse only travelled fairly and failed to finish off the event, proving disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities and the horse was sent to be swabbed.
 
The track was downgraded to SOFT 6 at 2:20 pm after light rain had fallen.
 
Race 5: CTM F&M MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M
 
Stewards acceded to a request from trainer H. Page to withdraw POWERFUL LASS following the downgrade of the track to SOFT 6 at 2:20 pm.On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on POWERFUL LASS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2:20 pm:
 
8 cents in the dollar for the win #8
9 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2
 
The start of this race was delayed when SCANTILY CLAD proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare.
 
SCANTILY LAD – Difficult to load. Warning placed on the mare. Slow into stride. Overraced in the early stages and nearing the 800m, whilst overracing, was obliged to steady from the heels of FORTUNATE DECREE and shifted wider.
 
BLAZING BELLE – Shifted in whilst racing greenly approaching the home turn and brushed the running rail, losing ground.
 
KAZ BAR RUBY – Obliged to shift wider on the course near the 800m when another runner steadied from heels and shifted wider.
 
Race 6: COOPERS PANEL N PAINT BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1690M
 
KILMACURRAGH – When asked to comment on the tactics adopted, jockey J. Orman stated it had been his intention to settle in a forward position with cover, however when THE EQUALIZER elected to go forward to obtain the position outside the leader, it resulted in his mount being 3 lengths further back than he would have preferred.
 
ADDICTED – Began moderately before mustering speed along the inside to settle in a forward position.
 
THE EQUALIZER – Tightened and inconvenienced rounding the home turn when UNION DUES shifted in for a stride. J. Lloyd, the rider of UNION DUES, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 7: TAB CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
 
TIMPERLEY – Raced three wide in the early stages and after being pushed four wide by REST OF THE WORLD near the 600m, rider M. Palmer then elected to continue to improve under hard riding and obtained the lead prior to the home turn.
 
REVERE – Shifted out marginally near the 450m when placed under pressure and brushed THE PINES.
 
THE PINES – Brushed by REVERE near the 450m when that runner was attempting to improve and had to be steadied momentarily.
 
Race 8: IPSWICH CUP TIX ON SALE BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1350M
 
DISSOLUTION – Tightened for room near the 1000m between ROSIE POSIE and GALTERO. B. Stewart, the rider of GALTERO, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
BON ROCKET – Had to be checked near the 250m when tightened for room between DYNASTIC, which shifted out before being corrected, and STARKERS, which shifted in under hard riding before being corrected.
 
GALTERO – Raced three wide with cover throughout. B. Stewart was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
FASTA THAN LIGHT – Shifted in at shortly after the start, bumping DYNASTIC. Raced wide throughout.
 
ROSIE POSIE – Tightened on jumping between FASTA THAN LIGHT and FANX and lost its position.
 
DYNASTIC – Bumped by FASTA THAN LIGHT at the start.
