Cormack (SMARTYPY) pleaded guilty to a charge of carelessness riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 400m he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount resulting in EGYPTIAN BULLET being taken inwards onto TRAUMATISED, which had to be checked. Jockey Cormack’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 23 June 2019 and expire midnight 1 July 2019.

ZOU DER ZEE – Tightened for room at the start.

EF TROOP – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

Boss stated that the gelding raced a bit keenly during the race and when placed under pressure approaching the home turn, proved disappointing and failed to run on.  Trainer C. Munce stated the gelding may not have backed up in the short time since its last start. He further stated he intended to continue with its campaign towards the Sunshine Coast Cup. Mr Munce undertook to report to Stewards anything that may become apparent in regards to the gelding’s condition in the coming days which may have had an affect on its performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

AKAGE – Slow to begin.

TISANI MAGIC – Overraced in the lead in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. App C. Bayliss was questioned regarding his riding tactics, particularly the reason why he maintained the lead when challenged by FINAL ZERO for some distance in the early stages. He stated that after jumping well he elected to go forward and shortly after was challenged by FINAL ZERO and he elected to hold his position which resulted in him working hard in the early stages. Thereafter he was able to maintain the lead however, was further challenged near the 600m and his mount tired in the straight after being placed under pressure. In hindsight he agreed that maybe he should have elected to take a sit in the early stages and Stewards advised App Bayliss that he was expected to show greater initiative in future.
