Race 1: CARLTON MID Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
PARISIAN TYCOON – Fractious and reared on a number of occasions prior to the start being effected. Bumped on jumping by BENNO FIRST.
 
PRINCESS MONA – Very fractious in the gates prior to the start being effected and reared causing its rider to become unbalanced.  
 
MISS SCENIC RIM – Reared slightly as the start was effected and lost significant ground.
 
BENNO FIRST – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping PARISIAN TYCOON. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn. Approaching the 200m was bumped heavily on the hind quarters and turned inwards by AMERICAN LOVE.
 
AMERICAN LOVE – Raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained. Held up for clear running passing the 400m and then passing the 300m when attempting a narrow run to the inside of BENNO FIRST, was again disappointed and unable to secure clear running and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
POTAWATOMI – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages and passing the 500m was forced wider on the track when RAGING ROYAL shifted out to improve.
 
Race 2: SIRROMET Maiden Handicap – 2180m
 
The start was delayed when KAZ BAR RUBY, after arriving at the start, underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was found to be lame in the near hind leg. KAZ BAR RUBY was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1.35 p.m. All monies invested on KAZ BAR RUBY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.35 p.m.:-
 
10 cents in the dollar for the win #4 (WICKED HEIGHTS)
8 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4 (WICKED HEIGHTS)
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #6 (NOBLE ARTIST)
14 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #2 (MISTER MAGNETIC)
 
Trainer G. Schwenke was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the mare racing again.
 
The start was further delayed when POWER FROM WITHIN proved difficult to load. Trainer G. Sitek was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners.
 
GRATUITOUS – After being fractious in the enclosure and slipping over underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was cleared to start. After being caught wide in the early stages in a midfield position was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 1200m.
 
FREEDOM FACTOR – Blundered on jumping and was then hampered between runners.
 
PACIFIC CREST – Slow to begin and was then bumped heavily by FREEDOM FACTOR. Passing the 1600m was steadied away from the heels of POWER FROM WITHIN.
 
POWER FROM WITHIN – Slow to begin and then shifted out abruptly bumping FREEDOM FACTOR. Passing the winning post on the first occasion laid out slightly and was then tightened for room to the inside of FREEDOM FACTOR. Shortly after again became unbalanced when being restrained passing the 1600m. After passing the 1000m commenced to weaken and finished a distance last. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer G. Sitek was advised that in light of today’s performance the mare’s nomination will be refused for metropolitan and provincial meetings until such time as its form improves at country meetings. Mr Sitek advised Stewards he would now give consideration to retiring the mare from racing.
 
YANKEE SANG – Slow to begin.
 
WICKED HEIGHTS – Passing the 100m on the first occasion when attempting to obtain cover commenced to overrace and got its head up when being restrained. Approaching the 1600m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied away from heels when MISTER MAGNETIC shifted in slightly and FREEDOM FACTOR shifted out. After settling in a trailing position with cover in the early stages shifted three wide passing the 1400m in an attempt to improve and passing the 900m obtained the lead.
 
NOBLE ARTIST – After passing the winning post on the first occasion made the turn out of the straight awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MISTER MAGNETIC – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: SCHWEPPES QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1200m
 
FLAUNT – Bumped on jumping. Held up from the 400m until entering the home straight.
 
LIGHTNING MOLLY – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SPANISH PHOENIX – Bumped and tightened for room shortly after the start. Jockey L. Tarrant reported that the filly was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer G. Schwenke advised Stewards that he would have the filly scoped and report the results to Stewards. Mr Schwenke further advised that he may experiment with the addition of a tongue tie prior the filly’s next start.
 
PADDLEPOP – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
LOVE YERS ALL – Passing the 900m commenced to overrace and had to be steadied away from the heels of BOOM ROCKER. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
TATACHILLA – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead passing the 800m.
 
KATY BOOM – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 800m.
 
AMICITIA – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
TWOGOBOOM – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BOOM ROCKER – Over the final 100m laid in away from LOVE YERS ALL.
 
THE FIRMAMENT – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4: QUEENSLAND TIMES BenchMark 60 Handicap – 1690m
 
Co-trainer R. Heathcote was fined $100 for the late declaration of App. A. Thompson as the rider of DOWNLOADING.
 
DOWNLOADING – Began awkwardly, shifted out and tightened runners to its outside.
 
LUCY LE ROC – Bumped and hampered by DOWNLOADING at the start. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
VOANABA - Bumped at the start.
 
SERIOUS DANCER - Bumped and hampered by DOWNLOADING at the start.
 
SIDERO STAR – Bumped and then tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
HARADIFY – Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air on jumping.
 
KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Bumped on jumping and then tightened for room shortly after. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SCARLETT HUSSIE – After starting from a wide barrier settled in a midfield three wide position with cover but after passing the 1400m was restrained to a rearward position to obtain a position closer to the rail. Held up shortly after entering the home straight and had to shift wider on the course until obtaining clear running approaching the 150m.
 
RITCHFORD – After racing in a rearward position with cover passing the 800m shifted three wide in an attempt to improve. When commencing to weaken passing the 100m put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced and bumped SIDERO STAR.
 
SCOUTABOUT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 5: RIVER 94.9FM Class 4 Handicap – 1350m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey A. Allen the rider of KOPELLA which finished third to view the patrol footage over the final 100m to ascertain whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against the second placegetter MINA HARKER (M. Hellyer). After viewing the footage jockey Allen elected not to proceed.
 
SHARPAMAL – Began awkwardly.
 
ABERLADY – Bumped on jumping.
 
KOPELLA – Bumped and tightened for room shortly after the start. Passing the 500m was steadied away from the heels of MINA HARKER and was held up until after passing the 400m when shifting wider on the track to improve. Approaching the 150m laid in under pressure.
 
BOBBY AXELROD – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ALASKAN SUN – Hampered on jumping and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover after passing the 800m. After passing the 150m was hampered and raced in restricted room between KOPELLA, which shifted in slightly and MINA HARKER, which laid out.
 
TEMUJIN’S MOON – Raced three wide with cover in the early stages before shifting four wide passing the 800m.
 
MINA HARKER – Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
PRINCE OF FLINDERS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: CHANNEL SEVEN Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 Plate – 1200m
 
ORIENTAL RULER – After being fractious in the enclosure and then refusing to enter the track Stewards gave permission for trainer K. Baumann to remove the tongue tie and therefore the gelding raced without that part of its advertised gear.
 
IADOREYOU – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Began awkwardly and bumped IADOREYOU. Raced keenly when in a trailing position after passing the 900m. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
WASHINGTON STREET – Slow to begin.
 
COURT RULES – Bumped on jumping. Cast a near hind plate in running.
 
GILDED LION – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LICKETY LACHIE – When being restrained to obtain cover laid in and brushed the running rail passing the 900m.
 
GOOD TIME CHARLIE – Laid out rounding the home turn and bumped JACKPOT JAY on a couple of occasions. When asked to explain the tactics adopted jockey J. Lloyd stated that his intention was to race in a handy to midfield position if possible but after beginning well from a wide barrier and due to the lack of speed inside of him in the early stages his mount overraced and therefore he allowed the gelding to take up the lead. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
JACKPOT JAY – Rounding the home turn was bumped by GOOD TIME CHARLIE and again passing the 150m and became unbalanced.
 
Race 7: TAB Fillies & Mares Class 2 Plate – 1200m
 
STEPPED IN PAINT – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Commenced to overrace shortly after the start and got its head up when being restrained from heels. Passing the 900m became awkwardly placed at heels and again resented being restrained. Passing the 200m was bumped on the hind quarters by DANCES WITH TIME, which shifted out to improve.
 
THE GREAT BOOMBINO – Bumped on jumping. Overraced when racing behind the leader in the early stages. Held up from the 400m until entering the home straight.
 
JOYMAKER – Began awkwardly.
 
DANCES WITH TIME – Held up for clear running after passing the 400m until a point approaching the 200m when shifting out to obtain clear running.
 
ON THE BOSSA NOVA – Laid in under pressure approaching the 200m. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
OUR DILEMMA – Passing the 200m raced in restricted room and was bumped on a couple of occasions. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Over the final stages was not fully tested in the run to the line. When asked to comment on the performance jockey J. Lloyd stated that from the wide barrier he was caught three wide without cover and being the mare’s first run  back from a spell it weakened slightly over the concluding stages and in his opinion would benefit from today’s run. Stewards noted his explanation.
 
MYSTIC BROOK - Passing the 200m raced in restricted room and was bumped on a couple of occasions.
 
LOPE DE LADY – Jockey T. Harrison reported that the mare overraced whilst in the lead.
