General
 
As jockey D. Smith was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
Prior to Race 1, jockey M. Du Plessis was ill and was subsequently  examined by  Queensland ambulance personnel  and stood down from his engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1 – Sirromet QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1350m
 
SECUNDUS – Began awkwardly.
 
REUS – Slow to begin. Bumped approaching the 300m.  Approaching the 200m shifted in to obtain clear running. Nearing the winning post laid out and bumped the hind quarters of RED BLOOM, which turned that runner inwards. After riding in this race was jockey R. Plumb  was  examined by Queensland Ambulance personnel and stood down from his remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
WAUSIWI – Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining the one-wide position passing the 800m.
 
AL JOOD – Raced 3 wide with cover in the early stages and then after passing the 800m raced in that position without cover.
 
STEEL PIER – Bumped approaching the 300m.
 
MOA’S GIRL – Approaching the 200m was heavily bumped by REUS, which caused it to become unbalanced, almost dislodging its rider.  Jockey R. Plumb, rider of REUS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding  in that approaching the 200m he made insufficient effort to prevent his mount shifting in, making heavy contact with MOA’S GIRL, which became unbalanced, striking the running rail and almost dislodging its rider.   Jockey Plumb was suspended from riding in races for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight, 7 September and to expire at midnight, 18 September 2019.
 
RED BLOOM – Approaching the winning post was bumped by REUS.
 
 
Race 2 – Carlton Mid Mares Maiden H’cap – 1350m
 
The start was delayed to allow for track staff to complete some remedial work on the crossing at the 1550,
 
SLIGHTLY SHADY – Began awkwardly.
 
SIZZLING DIAMOND – Bumped on jumping away.
 
JILLERETTE – Approaching the 100m improved onto the heels of DE NOVA STELLA and had to be shifted wider on the course.
 
DE NOVA STELLA – Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.
 
Race 3 – Follow @Ipswichturfclub Entires & Geldings Maiden H’cap – 1350m
 
DEBONAIR DES – Began awkwardly and blundered on jumping away and lost ground.
 
GILDED INSTINCT – Bumped on jumping away.
 
VANDERWINK – Bumped on jumping.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – After obtaining a position with cover passing the 900m commenced to overrace and threw its head in the air on a couple of occasions.
 
BOOMI’S BUDDY – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.  
 
 
Race 4 – Schweppes Ratingss Band 0-70 H’cap – 1700m
 
DA POWER -  Raced keenly in the early stages when positioned outside the lead. Commenced to weaken after passing the 500m and finished at the rear of the field.  When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, apprentice N. Keal stated that the gelding travelled moderately throughout and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the home straight.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.
 
BENICO’S PRINCE – Passing the 400m raced in restricted room and was hampered when DA POWER  laid in whilst weakening.
 
HUMILITY – Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
Race 5 – TAB Class 5 Plate – 1350m
 
BASTIA – Prior to entering the enclosure was examined by the veterinary surgeon after the stable representative alerted the veterinarian that the gelding may have struck its head in the tie-up stalls and was displaying blood out of one nostril.  Subsequently was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice  at  2.42 pm as a result of head trauma.   Following the event all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to apply.
 
26 cents in the dollar on the face value win bets
28 cents in the dollar on the face value win bets for the place
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
22 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
ON SHOW – Blundered on jumping away.
 
GET STUCK IN – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.  When asked to explain the tactics adopted and the performance of the gelding, apprentice N. Keal stated his instructions were to be positive and if possible settle in a midfield position.  He stated that after being moderately away from the wide alley the gelding was caught 3 wide in a rearward position. He further added that Mr Keal instructed him not to overly restrain the gelding and therefore he was reluctant to restrain to the rear of the field to find a position closer to the rail as he was of the opinion the gelding settled well, albeit 3 wide without cover, however never travelled like a winner at any stage of the event.
 
 
Race 6 –Bendigo Bank Booval Branch CG&E Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
 
MISTER SPINKS – During its preliminary was inclined to lay out noticeably and proved difficult to ride.  Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start.  Bumped on jumping.  Had a tendency to lay out after passing the 600m.
 
The start of this race was delayed when TIVOLI STREET required farrier attention behind the gates.
 
TIVOLI STREET – Slow to begin.
 
VOUCH FOR ME – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Shortly after the start when in a trailing position commenced to overrace and proved difficult to restrain.  Then passing the 900m when crossed by AMERICAN GENIUS had to be steadied away from heels and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions and proved difficult to be restrained.
 
BOZEMAN – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey M. Hellyer reported the gelding felt awkward in its action.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
KATHMANDU – Hampered between runners on jumping.  Passing the 700m had to be steadied away from  heels.
 
 
Race 7 – Seven Fillies and Mares Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
 
ZILITOR – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Inside the final 50m shifted in and away from TRAIL OF GLORY, which improved to its outside.
 
COUNTESS MIA – Overraced when the pace eased near the 700m.  Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
DECISIVE HEART – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
 
EPIC PIPER – Raced 3 wide throughout without cover.
 
SHE ZA BOSS – Raced 3 wide with cover.
 
 
 
Race 8 – Whitting @ Grandview Stud Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
 
FISTICUFFS – Began very awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition on jumping and shortly after was bumped on  hind quarters and became unbalanced. Raced keenly in the middle stages and had to be steadied away form heels on a couple of occasions. Was held  up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m and had to alter course back to the inside to obtain clear running.
 
TIZ – Was bumped on jumping away and lost ground.  Approaching the 450m  was bumped and became unbalanced when placed in restricted room to the inside of BELLE’S PLUCK, which shifted in slightly after steadying away from the heels of  BLACK STRATA.
 
BELLE’S PLUCK – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
AIOLOS – Slow into stride.
 
ZYMATIC – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and passing the 700m had to be severely checked and restrained from heels.  After passing the 200m was bumped by  BROCKY and raced in restricted room for a short distance.
 
BROCKY – Passing the 200m laid in under pressure and made contact with ZYMATIC.
 
TOOGOOLAWAH TRUMP – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
