GENERAL
 
As Jockey M. Hellyer was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 1: Carlton Mid Maiden Handicap – 2200m
 
BAFFLE MAC – Required farrier attention to the near fore leg prior to entering the parade area, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Slow into stride. Trainer G. Schwenke was advised that due to the poor performance the gelding’s nominations for provincial meetings would be refused until such time as it improves to a satisfactory standard.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SPIRIT OF EDYN – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Held up approaching the home turn. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running and then approaching the 300m appeared to clip heels and blundered dislodging its rider. Jockey B. Ainsworth was assessed by QAS officers and cleared of any apparent injuries. Stewards advised Jockey Ainsworth that she would be stood down from riding until such time as she passes a cognitive test and provides a medical clearance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
OCTOBER JOY – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
CLASSIC PEARL – Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
CHAINSMOKER – After beginning fairly commenced to race ungenerously approaching the post on the first occasion and proved difficult to settle. Passing the 1500m continued to race ungenerously. Inconvenienced near the 300m. Trainer P. Duncan was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
LYON’S MANE – Checked near the 300m when attempting to avoid a dislodged rider.
 
SHOOT AGAIN – Appeared to have been galloped on by SPIRIT OF EDYN on straightening. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
GOLDEN BASIL – Raced three wide throughout.
 
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the incident surrounding jockey B. Ainsworth (SPIRIT OF EDYN) being dislodged approaching the 300m.
 
 
Race 2: Schweppes Class 4 Plate – 1350m
 
As App N. Keal was indisposed due to injury Stewards permitted App B. Nothdurft to be substituted as the rider of SAILOR GERRI.
 
SAILOR GERRI – Raced three wide in the early stages before easing to take cover near the 700m.
 
 
Race 3: Sirromet Maiden Handicap – 1350m
 
Trainer L. Gough was fined $200 for the late notification of J. Bayliss as the rider of ALDERMAN.
 
MR AZRAY – Slow into stride.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD – Slow into stride.
 
OUR RED JET – Slow into stride.
 
APPLICANT – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping OFF COURSE.
 
OFF COURSE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 950m was tightened between QUEEN OF EMERALDS and WE WANT IT ALL, both of which shifted ground, resulting in OFF COURSE clipping heels and blundering. Raced three wide throughout.
 
KUMARI – Shortly after the start was hampered between runners and had to be steadied.
 
ALDERMAN – Approaching the 900m shifted away from the rails marginally.
 
QUEEN OF EMERALDS – Approaching the 900m shifted out and away from ALDERMAN and was taken wider on the track.
 
WE WANT IT ALL – When improving four wide near the 950m shifted in slightly tightening OFF COURSE to its inside, which contributed to that runner making contact with the heels of QUEEN OF EMERALDS and blundering. Stewards after considering the incident felt there were mitigating circumstances regarding the incident and took no further action.
 
 
Race 4: Channel Seven QTIS 3YO Maiden Handicap – 1350m
 
The start was delayed significantly when BARONET required farrier attention prior to the start.
 
The start was further delayed when MISHANI ELEGANT proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that the filly would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
NO INUENDO – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped CRAIGLEA LIZZY.
 
CRAIGLEA LIZZY – Bumped on jumping.
 
MISHANI ELEGANT – Bumped on jumping.
 
BARONET – Began awkwardly. Shortly after the start shifted in abruptly bumping SUBMISSION.
 
HALEIGHOZAE – Began awkwardly momentarily unbalancing its rider.
 
SUBMISSION – Bumped shortly after jumping.
 
BAMBALAM – Raced three wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 5: TAB Ratings Band 0-65 Handicap – 1025m
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Slow into stride, failed to muster speed and trailed the field throughout proving uncompetitive. Jockey W. O’Connell reported that the gelding felt awkward in its action and he was reluctant to continue to apply pressure to his mount from the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards after considering today’s performance advised Trainer A. Cowell that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
VON ROSEN – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
LOVE YOU LUCY – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide throughout.
 
MISS DEFIANCE – Shifted in near the line and had to be steadied for a stride. Raced three wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 6: Bendigo Bank Booval Branch Ratings Band 0-58 Handicap – 1700m
 
LINCOLN’S COMMAND underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
SECRET AGENT MAN - Trainer P. Butterworth’s representative advised the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. After settling in a midfield position commenced to overrace passing the 1400m and proved difficult to settle.
 
SURGICAL – Slow into stride. Commenced to overrace, refused to settle and its rider then elected to improve wider on the course before challenging for the lead passing the 800m. Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
LINCOLN’S COMMAND – Slow into stride. Held up for a short distance near the 200m.
 
HEATHER JOAN – Slow into stride.
 
ANGELA’S BEAUTY – Approaching the home turn shifted out and away from the heels of the tiring MISS SMINKER bumping PIPEMAJOR, which in turn was forced wider making contact with SECRET AGENT MAN.
 
HEART OF TOORAK – Steadied from the heels of SECRET AGENT MAN approaching the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: Queensland Times Class 1 Handicap – 1350m
 
As App M. Shimodaira was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted App H. English to be substituted as the rider of TOOGOOLAWAH TRUMP.
 
TOOGOOLAWAH TRUMP – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping SECRET SITES. Nearing the home turn when overracing had to be steadied from the heels of CUNARD.
 
SECRET SITES – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
BELASTRO – Slow into stride.
 
THE LAST ROAD – Began awkwardly. Passing the 800m commenced to overrace had to be steadied from the heels of BROCKY.
 
BROCKY – Nearing the home turn improved onto the heels of BONANOVA’S DREAM and was obliged to steady. Then had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the straight.
 
TAVI MCBRIDE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BUZZONI – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
