GENERAL

As DON’T SAY NO, SOCIALEYES and POCKET PISTOL had not raced for over twelve months all horses underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.
 
Acting on a report from the Investigative Integrity team Stewards directed that SWAN ISLAND (Race 7) arrive on course by 11.30 a.m. to enable blood and urine samples to be collected from the filly. Stewards interviewed licenced trainer Mr Gorman regarding the circumstances this morning at his stable complex. Stewards received copies of recent treatment records for SWAN ISLAND. Mr Gorman was advised that the samples would be sent for analysis and Stewards would be in further contact with him upon receipt of the results of both samples taken today. 
 
Race 1: Bundamba Twilight Markets Every Thursday Maiden Handicap – 800m
 
The start was delayed when VIKING CLAP after being mounted and leaving the enclosure had to return to the enclosure to allow App M. Savva to retrieve her vest from the Jockey’s room. App M. Savva was fined $300 for negligence under the provisions of AR227(a), which led to a breach of AR123(1).
 
The start was further delayed when NAYTELLRHI BIRD proved difficult to load.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the official footage in the home straight to ascertain whether they had grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the second placegetter (SUNLANDER) against the winner (HIDDEN EYES). After reviewing the footage and taking into consideration the inconvenience to SUNLANDER and the manner in which the horse closed the race off Stewards did not proceed.
 
HIDDEN EYES – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m forcing SUNLANDER wider on the course.
 
FIDE ET AMORE – Passing the 500m was crowded and bumped by VIKING CLAP, which shifted in. Laid in in the home straight when placed under pressure placing its rider at a disadvantage.
SUNLANDER – Passing the 200m was brushed by HIDDEN EYES and forced wider on the course.
 
DON’T SAY NO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils . Trainer B. Ashe was advised that the mare would now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
Race 2: Job Coach Benchmark 62 Handicap – 800m
 
Due to a miscommunication App A. Patis was dually engaged and subsequently replaced by App S. Tomlinson as the rider of SERTIN.
 
SIMPLY SO – Shortly after the start was crowded for room between SERTIN, which shifted in and JACK OF SPADES, which was taken out by BEWARE.
 
SUKOSHI – Approaching the 250m was crowded when tightened for room by SERTIN, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.  
 
 
Race 3: Schweppes Benchmark 58 Handicap – 2190m
 
MOSS GO NOW – Slow to begin.
 
CHIEF COMMAND – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
PRONOUNCEMENT – Bumped on jumping.
 
FRASCATI MISS – Approaching the 1600m commenced to overrace and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions when being restrained. Passing the 500m had to be restrained from the heels of PARIS CRYSTAL and in doing so laid out for a short distance before being corrected by its rider. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
Jockey B. Ainsworth (SPIRIT OF EDYN) was reprimanded for using her whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted with a total of eight for the race.
 
Jockey J. Taylor (MOSS GO NOW) was reprimanded for using his whip seven times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted with a total of fourteen for the race.
 
 
Race 4: Get Social @Ipswichturfclub Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap – 1350m
 
GREY COURT – Began awkwardly. After passing the 1200m was bumped by GENZAI THE WOLF and became unbalanced. Jockey L. Tilley reported that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit during the event.
MR AZRAY – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m when in a rearward position with cover commenced to overrace and proved difficult to restrain.
 
SARA MAN – Bumped on jumping. After passing the 500m commenced to weaken and laid in for the remainder of the event. Proved disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ATYAAF – Bumped on jumping. Laid out rounding the home turn. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Passing the 1200m commenced to lay out.
 
AIOLOS – Approaching the 300m was bumped by SARA MAN and became unbalanced.
 
Jockey R. Wiggins (LINCOLN SKY) was reprimanded for using his whip six times prior to the 100m, one more than permitted with a total of fifteen for the race.
 
Following the event Jockey R. Wiggins reported he was feeling unwell. Jockey Wiggins was subsequently examined by the QAS officers and stood down from his remaining engagement and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 5: Carlton Mid Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
 
Due to a clerical error some publications had JOCHBERG racing in blinkers and winkers. The horse raced in blinkers only and public announcements were made to this effect.
 
MY BELLY BUTTON – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to obtain a position closer to the rail at the rear of the field. Held up rounding the home turn before altering course near the 200m back to the inside.
 
LIPS ‘N HIPS – Bumped on jumping. After assuming the lead passing the 1000m laid in of its own accord and brushed the running rail.
 
THE LAST SEQUALO – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
JOCHBERG – After passing the 900m when racing in restricted room commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from the heels of CORDONED. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
KING MOMBASSA – Held up rounding the home turn. Passing the 100m when attempting a doubtful run to the inside of LIPS ‘N HIPS had to be steadied and restrained when LIPS ‘N HIPS, was taken in slightly by CONQUERMORE.
 
CONQUERMORE – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m crowding LIPS ‘N HIPS.
Jockey A. Mallyon (MY BELLY BUTTON) was reminded of his obligations regarding the use of his whip arm.
 
 
Race 6: Under The Louvre @ Grandview Stud Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap – 1350m
 
PRINCESS JUDE – Turned its head as the start was effected then began awkwardly and lost considerable ground. Passing the 400m when attempting to make ground out wide had to eased away from the heels of DARING BELLE and in doing so made the home turn wide and lost ground.
 
MUDGEGONGA – Bumped on jumping.
 
TRANSVERSALE – Bumped on jumping.
 
MARY JANE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 1200m when attempting to obtain cover behind the leaders commenced to overrace and resented being restrained. Passing the 800m when restrained from the heels of TRANSVERSALE again threw its head in the air and proved difficult to ride.
 
SOLO ARTIST – Passing the 900m had to be restrained from the heels of WINERIES. Passing the 400m had to be checked away from the heels of WINERIES.
 
DARING BELLE – Approaching the 400m was bumped and forced wider on the course by SOLO ARTIST, which had to be checked and shifted out to avoid the heels of WINERIES, which was forced out by MUDGEGONGA. PRINCESS JUDE, which was following was also forced wider on the course when awkwardly placed at the heels of DARING BELLE.Jockey J. Orman (MUDGEGONGA) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out passing the 400m forcing WINERIES out into the running of SOLO ARTIST, which became awkwardly placed at the heels of WINERIES and had to be checked and shifted out forcing DARING BELLE wider on the course. Jockey Orman’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 5 July 2020 and expire midnight 13 July 2020.
 
WINERIES – Passing the 400m was bumped by MUDGEGONGA, which shifted out to improve.
 
MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
DIVINE MISS BOOM – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: Thank You Pharmacy Community Class 2 Handicap – 1100m
 
SINGLE BLONDE – The stable representative advised that from the wide barrier the intention would be to ride the horse back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
BEATSME – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
CHAMPAGNE JET – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CENTREFIRE – Bumped on the hind quarters by SWAN ISLAND on jumping.
SWAN ISLAND – Crowded between BEATSME and CENTREFIRE on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
Race 8: TAB Class 2 Handicap – 1700m
 
JOY’S REWARD – Began awkwardly and blundered. Bumped and crowded for room shortly after the start. Passing the 1000m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from the heels of STARLIGHTER.
 
BRANDO – Shortly after the start shifted out hampering THE CARPENTER.
 
PRINCE OF ARRAN – Bumped and crowded for room shortly after the start.
 
MINOR LUCK - Bumped and crowded for room shortly after the start. Overraced in the early stages and raced three wide without cover throughout. Weakened after passing the 500m and finished at the rear of the field. App M. Kennedy advised that in her opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its current campaign. Trainer N. Hocking advised Stewards he may give consideration to sending the gelding for a spell. 
 
THE CARPENTER – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
ROMANI COUNTESS – Held up rounding the home turn.
