SUPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
SUNSHINE COAST 4 October 2020
 
Race 1 – NOOSA WATERFRONT Class 3 Plate 1400m
 
IN GREAT NIC – Trainer R Heathcote advised that the result of an endoscopic examination revealed the mare had an entrapped epiglottis and would affect a gear change prior to its next start.
 
GENERAL
 
Rider L Tilley was fined $500 under AR218(4)(c) for using a mobile phone in jockeys’ room.
 
Race 1: CARPET COURT IPSWICH QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1690 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed whilst Stewards considered an objection lodged by R Stewart the rider of HANGIN’ HIGH (third place), against ACCARDO (second place), alleging interference over the final stages. After considering the evidence, it was established that over the concluding stages HANGIN’ HIGH was bumped by ACCARDO which laid in. As Stewards could not be satisfied had the interference not occurred that HANGIN’ HIGH would have finished ahead of ACCARDO, therefore dismissed the protest and declared correct weight.
 
ACCARDO – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early parts of the home straight. Over the concluding stages laid in and bumped HANGIN' HIGH.
 
HANGIN' HIGH – Shifted out to improve near the 700m. Bumped over the concluding stages by ACCARDO which shifted in.

SEQUOIDEAE – Over raced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn, before shifting to the inside of WINN’EM which hung out.
 
WINN’EM – Eased down in the home straight. Rider M McGillivray reported that filly hung out from the 700m and did not feel comfortable in its action. Post-race veterinary examination identified poor post-race recovery, mild nasal discharge and presence of blood in one nostril. Trainer C Anderson was notified the he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance and the filly is required to undergo a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward.
 
 
Race 2: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION Class 2 Handicap 2170 metres
 
CALL ME LEGEND – Rider L Cassidy reported that the gelding hung in from the 700m.
 
QUOTANT – Slow to begin. Steadied over the concluding stages when improving close to the heels of BADGE OF GAMENESS.
 
ULTIMATE RING – Laid out in the home straight.
 
DIVINE ASCOT – Rider M Hellyer was fined $300 under AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner, that being 16 times.
 
QUEEN OF THE NIGHT – Raced three wide without cover from the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn. In the early part of the home straight laid in.
 
 
Race 3:  GET RACING @IPSWICHTURFCLUB Maiden Handicap 1690 metres
 
SACRED SUITE (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to gain cover. Near the 400m obtained a neat run to the inside of ROCAROYALE (NZ) which hung out.

ROCAROYALE (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding the home turn.

ROUNDUP – Rider B Ainsworth was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) for use of whip when out of contention.
 
MEGAMAX - Raced wide for the majority. Eased down from the 400m. Apprentice G Cartwright reported that the gelding failed to travel throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer K Purdy was notified that the gelding must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
 
A'YUN – Near the 100m was steadied when close to the heels of KRAKAN COVE which shifted out marginally.
 
SAN BERNARDINO – Near the 1400m was carried wider by MEGAMAX which shifted out and then raced wide for the remainder.
 
Following this race the track was upgraded to a Good 3 at 2:34pm.
 
 
Race 4: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD Class 4 Handicap 1350 metres
 
DESTINY'S OWN – Raced wide without cover. Near the 200m bumped heavily by ALDERMAN and became unbalanced. 
 
TESARC – Tactics queried. Settled further forward. Rider M McGillivray stated that after beginning well he elected to ride his mount forward rather than race wide without cover. Near the 200m after being struck by the whip shifted out abruptly making heavy contact with ALDERMAN. Post-race veterinary examination identified laceration to near hind coronet band. A post-race swab was also taken for analysis.
 
ALDERMAN – Near the 200m bumped heavily by TESARC and became unbalanced.
 
SECRET CONQUEST – Began awkwardly. After passing the 100m was steadied and shifted in away from the heels of MUSIC AWARD.
 
 
Race 5: ONE VENUE, ANY OCCASION BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1200 metres
 
CLASS OF ROYALTY – Trainer J Zielke advised that the gelding had soreness in its neck and subsequently was declared a late scratching at 10:25am. Trainer J Zielke was notified the he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the gelding racing or trialing again.
 
FISH ON – When questioned in relation to the improved performance trainer J Gregory advised that the gelding was resuming from a spell, was down in class and suited by the 1200m.
 
STILL INVINCIBLE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
PULL ANCHOR – Near the 75m was steadied when tightened for room, when MCCOVEY COVE shifted out under pressure.
 
FINAL DECLARATION – Fractious in the barriers. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Eased down in the home straight. Rider A Mallyon advised that he could offer no explanation for the performance. Lost its off hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
MCCOVEY COVE – Shifted out under pressure near the 75m.
 
Rider R Maloney (MCCOVEY COVE) was found guilty of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that, near the 75m permitted his mount to shift out when not clear, tightening PULL ANCHOR which had to be steadied and lost its rightful running . Rider R Maloney’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days to commence midnight 21 October 2020 and expire midnight 30 October 2020. Stewards deemed the interference to be in the low range.
 
 
Race 6: IEEC.COM.AU Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
DREAM POLICE – Slow to begin.
 
ISSAQUAH – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m when attempting to secure clear running shifted out and bumped PERSIAN KING.
 
PERSIAN KING – Bumped by ISSAQUAH near the 200m.
 
I AM A ROCKER – Restrained after the start from the wide barrier to obtain a position at the rear of the field and close to the running rail. Disappointed for a run near the 200m between DANZEL and ONE MORE PINOT which laid in before being held up and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
ALLIED COMMAND – Slow to begin. Near the 900m was checked when awkwardly placed between PALLADAS and DREAM POLICE which shifted out. Rider M McGillivray reported that the colt hung out rounding the home turn and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings. 
 
FIGHTING MAD – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: BOOK YOUR XMAS PARTY BENCHMARK 75 Handicap 1690 metres
 
At the rider’s request SCOUTABOUT, underwent a veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4:49pm. All monies invested on SCOUTABOUT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4:49pm:

Trainer D Fletcher was notified the he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
REIBY THE RED – Slow to begin.
 
TOGA PICTA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its trainer. Subsequently passed suitable to race. Held up from the 300m and had difficulties obtaining clear running until close to the finish.
 
SMOKEY DIAMOND – Held up from the 200m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
PARIS CRYSTAL – Eased down in home straight. Apprentice S Tomlinson reported that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not identify any abnormal findings. Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined $200 under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance.
 
 
Race 8: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT Class 1 Handicap 1350 metres
 
GRAND ZOU – Tactics queried, Led. Rider R Fradd reported that the gelding has a tendency to over race when ridden with cover. After beginning well and being up in distance settled in the lead without being pressured.
 
EFFORT – Held up rounding the home turn. Rider J Orman reported that from the wide draw he restrained in the early stages to obtain cover rather than racing wide. He further added that in his opinion would be better suited ridden closer.

DOCTOR COSTELLO – Rider M Du Plessis reported his mount did not feel comfortable in its action. Post-race veterinary examination identified the colt to be short in front bilaterally. Stable representative N Hahn was notified a Veterinary Clearance is required prior to the gelding racing or trialing again
 
NIAB – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages. Near the 1200m momentarily steadied when GRENADIERS shifted in. Rider Andrew Spinks (GRENADIERS) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
RED GARTER – Change of tactics; more forward. Fractious in the barriers. Failed to muster early speed and settled in a position near the rear of the field.
 
COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Rider S Cormack stated that in his opinion the gelding is better suited on tracks with more give than that of today. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings. A post-race swab was also taken for analysis.
