GENERAL
 
Race 2. Trainer M Brosnan was reprimanded for failing to scratch MONDEZ a dual acceptor by the prescribed time – LR36(6)
 
As rider R. Goltz is injured and unable to fulfill his two engagements, he was replaced as per summary of rider changes.
 
 
RACE 1: OBSESSION SHOES BOUTIQUE MAIDEN PLATE 1100 METRES
 
RAPID ASCENT – Began awkwardly.
 
MARICI – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping heavily with LAURIE.

LAURIE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and had some difficulty securing clear running between the 250 metres and the 100 metres.

ENJOY THE SHOW – Slow in to stride.
 
BELLITA – Raced greenly throughout the race. Laid out after passing the 600 metres. Was inconvenienced rounding the home turn when racing in restricted room to the inside of CROWN WAR.
 
CROWN WAR – Laid in slightly passing the 400 metres.
 
POTAWATOMI – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
HAMS AL LAIL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly was displaying symptoms of heat stress.
 
 
RACE 2: OH! JOJO BOUTIQUE CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1510 METRES
 
ELOTROLADO – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start being effected. Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier partition, dislodging its near side winker. Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to shift wider on the course over the concluding stages.
 
PROUD ROC – Began awkwardly.
 
DON'T WAIVER – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider J. Orman explained that the gelding travelled well throughout the race however failed to respond when placed under pressure and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken from the gelding.
 
 
RACE 3: SADDLEWORLD IPSWICH RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 HANDICAP 1200 METRES
 
The start was delayed after MUMBLESreared in the barrier and made heavy contact with the barrier partition. The gelding was removed from the barriers and underwent a veterinary examination, which revealed blood in the gelding’s off-side nostril. MUMBLES was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:48pm by order of Stewards on veterinary advice. All bets placed on MUMBLES to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply for successful bets prior to 2:48pm:
 
10 cents in the win for 1st (ANGUS THE BLACK)
12 cent in the place for 1st (ANGUS THE BLACK)
11 cents in the place for 2nd (GOT MY THRILLS)
14 cents in the place for 3rd (JAYDEE INDY)

MUMBLES – W. Hulbert, co-trainer of MUMBLES, was advised that MUMBLES would require a veterinary clearance of soundness prior to the gelding being permitted to trial or race again.
 
ANGUS THE BLACK – Shortly after the start had to be steadied when crowded for room by SO YOU SHOP, which shifted in.
 
SO YOU SHOP – Overraced in the early stages. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, rider B. Thompson explained that the gelding, despite racing keenly in the early stages, travelled well until approaching the home turn, however when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. A post-race swab sample was taken from the gelding.
 
JAYDEE INDY – After being caught three-wide without cover in the early stages, was permitted to stride forward to obtain the position outside the leader near the 700 metres.
 
GOT MY THRILLS – Raced keenly in the early stages and had to be restrained from the heels of ANGUS THE BLACK near the 800 metres.
 
CELTIC TIGER – Was held up for clear running from the 300 metres until passing the 100 metres.
 
 
RACE 4: CARLTON MID CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1680 METRES
 
This race was delayed with a revised starting time of 3:33pm due to storm activity in the area.
 
THINK I'M FLYING – Slow to begin.
 
PICTON – Began awkwardly and shifted out. After racing in the lead for the majority of the race, commenced to weaken rounding the home turn and finished at the tail of the field. When asked to comment, rider R. Wiggins explained that the gelding, although stepping up in distance for today’s event and also missing a recent run due to weather, proved disappointing in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
STAR CENTRE – Bumped on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
BLACKBOOTS – Was caught three-wide without cover in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward to obtain the position outside the lead near the 700 metres.
 
THATFRIDAYFEELING – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
RACE 5: SCHWEPPES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1350 METRES
 
THE MINIVAN – Began awkwardly. Was held up from the 400 metres until approaching the 250 metres.
 
OUR ECHO – Was hampered on jumping. Passing the 1200 metres, was bumped and raced in restricted room to the inside of BEL BEAU, which was taken in by EDINBURGH.
 
BEL BEAU – Passing the 1200 metres, was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced when crowded for room by EDINBURGH, which shifted in. M. Cahill, rider of EDINBURGH, was advised to show greater care when shifting ground. Raced three-wide without cover after passing the 1100 metres.
 
VASSA BLUE – Passing the 1200 metres shifted out, bumping OUR ECHO.
 
PERFECT AIM – Near the 1200 metres had to be restrained from the heels of MONTEZ.
 
FULL NELSON – After being caught wide without cover in the early stages, was permitted to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 900 metres.
 
ARUBA – Had to be steadied away from the heels of OUR ECHO passing the 800 metres. Shortly thereafter had to be restrained from the heels of BEL BEAU and was shifted four-wide and made the home turn wide on the course.
 
MONTEZ – Laid in over the final 100 metres.
 
 
RACE 6: SIRROMET CLASS 1 PLATE 1350 METRES
 
CONQUERING JUDAS – Began awkwardly, bumping BEACH CLUB. Commenced to overrace when in a rearward trailing position passing the 900 metres and had to be restrained from the heels of BUDDIE OLLIE. Again had to be restrained from heels near the 800 metres and shifted out to a three-wide position with cover from that point. Was held up rounding the home turn.
 
BEACH CLUB – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Lost its off side hind plate during the race.
 
LUVYOUANYTIME – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid in passing the 100 metres, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Approaching the 900 metres, commenced to race keenly and had to be restrained from the heels of SAYS WHO.
 
YAWKYAWK – Caught wide in the early stages and was permitted to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 800 metres.
 
WILLY BE LUCKY – Approaching the 400 metres was bumped heavily, became unbalanced and was forced wider on the course by BUDDIE OLLIE, which shifted out to improve. M. Haley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for being careless and shifting ground when insufficiently clear.
 
SAYS WHO – Was held up rounding the home turn. Inconvenienced passing the 200 metres by ASTRALIS, which shifted out to improve.
 
ASTRALIS – Was held up rounding the home turn and upon approaching the 200 metres had to be shifted out abruptly to secure clear running to the outside of LUVYOUANYTIME.
 
OAKFIELD TICKETS – Was held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
RACE 7: RIVER 94.9FM OPEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
PRIORITISE – Slow to begin.
 
OZARK – Slow in to stride.
 
PEPPI LA FEW – Slow in to stride.
