GENERAL
 
With the unavailability of spas and saunas due to the Brisbane COVID-19 lockdown restrictions imposed on the 8th January 2020. On application Stewards permitted the following riders to ride ½ kg overweight;
 
Race 5.         THE BIG EATER – M Hellyer +0.5kg (now 54.5)
Race 7.         REDENZO GAL – M Hellyer +0.5kg (now 54.5)
 
Race 1: IPSWICH DANCE WORKSHOP INTENSIVE MDN HCP - 1666m
 
TIMOTHY - Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. On jumping, a strap attached to the barrier blanket failed to detach. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KNIGHT ENAMOURED – Elected to improve from the 700m due to a moderate tempo and find the lead near the 500m.
 
RAYARA – When questioned regarding tactics adopted, jockey A Allen stated after being caught wide early and with his mount overracing, he elected to improve and reach the lead near the 1200m. He added however, that RAYARA refused to settle and continued to overrace and proved disappointing. Jockey Allen further added that RAYARA may not have handled the increase in distance which may have attributed to today’s disappointing performance.
 
ENJOY THE SHOW – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CHLOE JADE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS 2YO MDN PLT - 800m
 
ALF'S MAGIC – Raced wide throughout and was carried wider rounding the home turn.
 
ARCHDEACON - Raced wide throughout and was carried wider rounding the home turn.
 
BEE TEE AH – Failed to muster early speed and raced greenly throughout.
 
ROYALE RETURN – Shifted out rounding the home turn.
 
ALL JOYOUS – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground. Race greenly throughout.
 
FORCEFUL MATILDA – Raced wide throughout and was carried wider rounding the home turn.
 
GRACIEDE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft (6)
 
Race 3: THOROUGHBREDS SPORTS BAR QTIS 3YO MDN PLT - 800m
 
AHRI'S AMORE – Inconvenienced near the 700m.
 
ENVY ME – Inconvenienced near the 700m.
 
DANSANT – After lunging at the gates, was removed and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start. Below performed market expectations and a post-race sample was taken for analysis.
 
ELKA ELEVEN – Near the 700m, was carried inwards by PROUDLY GREY (J Bayliss) which shifted in causing AHRI’S AMORE and ENVY ME to be inconvenienced. Jockey J Bayliss was reprimanded under AR131(a). Raced three wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MANDO ROCK – Very slow to begin.
 
NANNA KNUCKEY – Steadied shortly after the start when awkwardly placed on the heels of ELKA ELEVEN.
 
PROUDLY GREY – Rider J Bayliss dropped his whip near the 150m.
 
STAR OF NAARA – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: CARLTON MID CL 3 HCP – 1500m
 
HOSTAGE OF WAR – After being caught wide early, rider M Hellyer elected to improve and reach the position outside the lead near the 1100m.
 
FAST TRAIN – Overraced in the early stages.
 
MERLIN'S MAGIC – Slow into stride. Apprentice J Lloyd reported that MERLIN’S MAGIC felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LEISA LOUISE – Began very awkwardly, shifted in and lost ground.
 
After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Soft (5).
 
Race 5: SIRROMET CL 4 HCP - 1350m
 
GREAT DANGER – Laid in in the home straight, proving very difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
YU LONG SHENG HUI – Rider L Tarrant reported that his mount felt awkward in its action on return to the enclosure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in both front feet. Trainer J Walk was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding racing or trialling again.
 
ESKDALE GIRL – After being caught wide, jockey N Tomizawa elected to improve to take up the lead near the 1100m.
 
THE BIG EATER – Slow to begin.
 
RUSSIAN ROMEO – Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 6: SCHWEPPES MDN HCP – 1200m
 
GEOSTORM – Delayed the start after becoming fractious in the gates. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Hung out near the 1000m and bumped with LADY GRAZIER. Carried wider on the home turn when EXPENSIVE TO KEEP made the home turn awkwardly.
 
COULOMB (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
GUILTY – Buffeted between runners at the start.
 
EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – Stewards permitted S Galloway to replace J Bayliss as the rider when J Bayliss was unable to make the weight. Made the home turn awkwardly, shifted out carrying GEOSTORM wider.
 
LADY GRAZIER – Bumped near the 1000m with GEOSTORM when that runner hung out. Bumped on the home turn.
 
ORDERS – Overraced in the early stages and raced three wide throughout.
 
GREYT INTENTIONS – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily with GUILTY. Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 7: SEVEN CL 2 HCP - 1200m
 
LOVE YERS ALL – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride.
 
REDENZO GAL – Slow into stride. Inclined to lay out throughout. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
ROCK ON DESTINY – Slow into stride.
 
ZOLLIKON MISS – Raced three wide without cover.
 
Race 8: BARN RESTAURANT BM 55 HCP – 1666m
 
ROTHABYE – After being caught wide early elected to stride forward and take up a leading position approaching the home turn.
 
MINOR LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
GRAND EAGLE (NZ) – Raced three wide throughout. Steadied when improved onto heels approaching the finishing line.
 
POLE VOLTER – After being caught wide early elected to stride forward to take up a leading position near the 900m.
 
REPETITEUR – Bumped on jumping.
 
TOFFIE LADY – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight until a point near the 150m.
 
FELZONE – Began awkwardly shifting in. After being caught three wide in the early stages, was permitted to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 800m.
 
SUPERVISOR – Put in an awkward stride near the 150m.
 
CONSULAR– Held up rounding the home turn.
 
KIRRO – Began awkwardly shifting out.
 
SHINSTAR – Began awkwardly shifting in.
 
SIR PELLIAS – Raced three wide throughout.
 
PRINCE OF BRAEMAR – Slow to begin and had to be steadied shortly after when tightened between runners.
