Race 1: IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE Maiden Handicap 2200 metres
 
SPIRITUAL – Reared at the start, lost ground.
 
LEICABLE – Rider M McGillivray was examined by the QAS officers following the event, after his foot was stood on when dismounting. Passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.
 
MARECAT – Rider N Masuda was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to 100m, one more than permitted.
 
FROM THE GONG – Over raced in the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE Class 3 Plate 1350 metres
 
MILLEN FALCON – Slow to begin.
 
LOVE YERS ALL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being injured enroute to the course, was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12.30pm. Trainer L Hatch was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the mare racing or trialling.
 
 
Race 3: BARN FAMILY RESTAURANT QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 800 metres
 
DARK SON – Raced wide without cover.
 
DAD'S LAD – Bounded at the start. In the home straight, laid in. Tactics queried, Apprentice L Kilner stated that the gelding failed to muster early speed and laid in in the early part of the home straight and again over the final 70m before being corrected. L Kilner further added that the gelding would be better suited over distances further that todays event.
 
INCERTO – Slow to begin.
 
LADY TULESSA – Slow to begin.
 
PROUDLY GREY – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 4: SPORTS BAR OPEN FRIDAY Class 3 Handicap 2200 metres
 
SPICERS PEAK – Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination identified the gelding to be short striding in front. A post-race swab sample was taken for analysis.
 
ELECTRIC ELLYSE – Near the 150m, steadied when tightened between BRYBECK which shifted out to improve and CHEERS TO ALL which shift in under pressure.
 
STYLISH KIM – Change of tactics, to be ridden off the speed. Settled worse than mid field, over raced, raced wide without cover from the 1400m. Apprentice S Tomlinson was granted permission to only claim 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance as he was unable to claim his full allowance. Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined $300 under AR143(14)(a).
 
BRYBECK – (Second placegetter). Prior to correct weight rider L Tarrant viewed the Stewards patrol film in the straight. Rider Luke Tarrant lodged a protest against (CLASSIC PEARL) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference from the 200m. After taking evidence from all parties Stewards were of the opinion that this incident did not warrant that the placings be amended, the protest was dismissed, and correct weight was declared. Rider L Tarrant was found guilty under AR219(5) for lodging a frivolous protest and fined $200.
 
 
Race 5: SCHWEPPES Maiden Handicap 800 metres
 
MEGANEL – Raced wide without cover. Laid out rounding the home turn. Rider B Thompson reported the filly felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination identified an awkward action in front, and nasal mucus.
 
PETA CALADA – Slow to begin.
 
GOLDEN WHITT – Bumped at the start.
 
EL RANCHOS – Began awkwardly.
 
MOSKOGEE – Raced wide without cover.
 
THE LAST DRAGON – Near the 250, when racing greenly was steadied away from EL RANCHOS.
 
 
Race 6: SIRROMET BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1700 metres
 
SUPERVISOR – Checked approaching the 1300m when the pace excessively slowed.
 
ARCALETTE – Apprentice M Potgieter pleaded guilty under AR131(d) for excessively checking the speed approaching the 1300, resulting in SUPERVISOR having to be checked to avoid ARCALETTE’s heels and SHADYVALE STAR being checked to avoid SUPERVISOR’s heels. Apprentice Potgieter’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period on 10 days, from midnight 17 February 2021 until midnight 27 February 2021. Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record.
 
SHADYVALE STAR – Checked approaching the 1300m when the pace excessively slowed.
 
 
Race 7: CARLTON MID RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handicap 1100 metres
 
BOUNTY HUNTER – Lost a near fore plate.
 
SEE FOR YOURSELF – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near hind limb and had been galloped on. Trainers C & K Geran were notified that they will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the mare racing or trialling.
 
SILVERBROOK LAD – Slow to begin.
 
ROCK ON DESTINY – Held up approaching the home turn.
 
NAKANAI – (12yo) Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed suitable to start. Raced wide with cover.
 
 
Race 8: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 
SKILORD – Race wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore limb. Trainer B Hill was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the gelding racing or trialling.
 
SOMERVELL – Began awkwardly, lost ground.
 
UBETWEDO – Held up approaching the home turn behind REFLECTIVE which was tiring.
 
SINO DEFEAT – Slow to begin.
 
UNLIKELYOCCURRENCE – Slow to begin.
 
SIZZLING DIAMOND – Apprentice S Tomlinson was granted permission to only claim 1.5kg of his 2kg allowance as he was unable to claim his full allowance. Apprentice S Tomlinson reported the mare felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
