Race 1 – Retired Raceday Ladies QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 800m

The start of this race was delayed when the Judge informed stewards that after initially setting up the photo-finish system and testing it to be in working order encountered a malfunction just prior to the start of the race, therefore the first race was completed without the photo-finish system operational. Following the running of race one the problem with the photo finish system was rectified and remained operational for the meeting.

Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey M. Schrapel, rider of ICED, placed 3rd by the Judge, to view the stewards patrol films to determine his placing. After viewing the patrol films he was satisfied with the Judge’s placings and therefore stewards declared correct weight on the Judge’s numbers.

SAIL THE STARS – Blundered shortly after the start.

MR TICKETS – After racing wide in the early stages was allowed to improve forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1000m.

WAINUI GOLD – Apprentice S. Lacy reported at scale it was not her intention to settle as far back in the field, however due to the fast early tempo she was unable to obtain a forward position when racing wide, and elected to restrain to obtain cover. She also reported that her mount was inclined to lay in in the home straight, resulting in her having to stop riding and straighten.

Race 3 – Golden Downs Ultimate Enjoyment Maiden Plate – 1200m

The start of this race was delayed due to a number of runners being fractious in the parade ring.

The start was further delayed when THORBEN underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of its rider, which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.20 pm, with the following deductions applicable.

1 cent in the dollar on the face value of win bets
1 cent in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
1 cent in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets

Following this event the stewards brought to the attention of the starter that there was an issue with one barrier being marginally slow to open. Subsequently the starter advised he had tested the barrier gates and was satisfied that the issue had been rectified.
