Race 1: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS Class B Handicap 1200m
 
The start was delayed when BLACK ENVY the 1st horse to be loaded made solid contact with the barrier partition resulting in the rider’s offside iron breaking. As there were no other horses loaded, stewards allowed Jockey H English to replace the broken gear.
 
TEYA – Shortly after the start was hampered between runners losing its position.
 
CLAIRVUE SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly lost ground, shortly after was tightened between runners.
 
HEY DOLL – Had to be eased approaching the 900m.
 
HEEBEE RIGHT MATE – Approaching the 900m was checked and lost ground, raced 3 wide with cover for the majority.  Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DAVIDBOOM – Raced in restricted room approaching the 900m was checked and lost ground.
 
LORD OF THE DREAMZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
NINE CIGARS – Raced wide throughout.
 
KENTFORD – Raced 3 wide early and middle stages, Laid in under pressure over final 150m.
MASTER OF NORWAY – Apprentice Jockey S.Wilcock, rider of MASTER OF NORWAY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in approaching the 900m when insufficiently clear of the HEEBEE RIGHT MATE and DAVIDBOOM, which resulted in both runners having to be checked and losing ground at that point. App  S.Wilcock was suspended from riding in races for period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 26th January, and to expire at midnight, 3rd February.  
 

 
Race 2: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL Maiden Plate 1060m
 
KICKS BOTH FEET – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CYCLONE MIA– Began awkwardly, raced wide from the 500m.
 
ZARAFET – Shifted out on jumping bumping another runner.
 
HENRY FAMOUS – Began awkwardly, hung out rounding the home turn.
 
TAXI CRAB – Raced wide for the entire event.
 
OLIVIALEX – Raced greenly for the majority.
 
CREDITWORTHY – Approaching the 800m was steadied when improved onto heels
 
BOOMTOWN BABE – At the 500m shifted wider to improve, Jockey P. Randall was reprimanded for using his whip on more than five occasions prior to the 100m.
 
 
 
Race 3: TAB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 800m
 
DANSU – Began awkwardly throwing its head in the air, raced 3 wide with cover, steadied approaching the 400m when racing in restricted room.
 
LAST ROUND – Slow to begin.
 
TELLOFF – Bumped on jumping away, rider dropped whip near the 500m. Passing the 400m brushed the running rail becoming unbalanced.
 
STRIVE TO SUCCEED – Raced 3 wide the entire.
 
MAGIC PANTHER – Raced wide throughout.
 
STORM ANCHOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHEVYS DESIRE – Raced 3 wide with cover, Rider I. Rabjones was reminded of her obligations to ride her mount out over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 4: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS AUSTRALIA DAY CUP BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1900m
 
INKULU – Bumped on jumping momentarily eased at the 300m when attempting a tight run to the inside of LITTLE DRUMMER BOY.
 
STRYKING EMERALD - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a poor post-race recovery. Trainer A.Willick advised stewards the gelding will now be going for a spell.
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL Maiden Plate 1500m
 
The start was delayed when SICK’EM REX became fractious broke through the front barriers dislodging its rider before escaping for some time. SICK’EM REX was declared a late scratching at 4.34 p.m by order of Stewards. All monies invested on SICK’EM REX were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place getters prior to 4.34 p.m.:-
 

19 cents in the dollar for the win #6 (PRUNDA)
20 cents in the dollar for place of winner #6 (PRUNDA)
16 cents in the dollar for 2nd place getter #4 (MONTE SANTO)
16 cents in the dollar for 3rd place getter #3 (MAJOR OAK)
 
Trainer K. Afford was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
CARLTON STAR – Shifted in on jumping away bumping another runner.
 
MOSSAMEANIE – Shifted out on jumping away bumping another runner.
 
MISS TAYLOR – Shortly after the start was tightened between runners, raced 3 wide the majority.
 
CHEEKY CHOPS – Commenced to over race in early stages after being crossed.
 
COMPLETE TRUST – Took the crossing awkwardly then raced greenly for a short period after.
 
SOLITARY MARCH – Raced 4 wide the majority.
 
MAJOR OAK – Momentarily eased when crowded for room at the 400m
