Race 1: SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL PROMOTING KILCOY Maiden Plate 1500 metres
 
OFF COURSE – Began awkwardly.
 
ORDERS – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Made the turn out of the home straight on the first occasion awkwardly and lost ground. Laid out passing the 400 metres when under hard riding. Rider C Caserta reported ORDERS did not appreciate the tight turning track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the near hind leg and a slow post-race recovery.
 
FOUND THE MARK – Slow to begin.
 
FLEUR DE JOUR – Shortly after the start veered out contacting ORDERS.
 
FROM THE GONG – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.
 
RAW INSTINCT – Near the 600 metres steadied when FOUND THE MARK shifted in.
 
TWOGOBOOM – Slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion improved onto the heels of ORDERS and was carried wider on the track.
 
 
 
Race 2: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes when STRUMAN, after being loaded into the barriers became fractious, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start.
 
IMALI – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader near the 900 metres. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages obliging rider N Tomizowa to stop riding momentarily.
 
PLENTY OF TICKER –Under hard riding put in an awkward stride passing the 100 metres.
 
STRUMAN – After becoming fractious in the barriers was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and cleared to start.
 
 
Race 3: SEARLES GARDEN PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1500 metres
 
HALLSIDE FANDANGO – Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. Stewards, in the presence of RQ jockey advocate Mr S Scriven, counselled apprentice E McPherson regarding tactics adopted. Whilst acknowledging in this instance she rode to instructions, Stewards stressed it was important that she be flexible in adapting to varying tactics as a race presents.  
 
PREDICTABLE MISS – Blundered making the crossing near the 1200 metres.
 
ESKDALE GIRL – Began awkwardly.
 
GRATSIE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 350 metres steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of HALLSIDE FANDANGO.
 
GRANDE CASADORA – In the presence of RQ jockey advocate Mr S Scriven, Stewards questioned apprentice L Dillon into tactics adopted from the 1000 metres in particular where GRANDE CASADORA continued to apply pressure to HALLSIDE FANDANGO from that point until near the 400 metres when GRANDE CASADORA commenced to weaken. Stewards were of the opinion apprentice Dillon had erred in not making greater effort to restrain her mount in the middle stages, however felt her actions did not meet the requisite standard of a breach of any rule. A post-race veterinary examination of GRANDE CASADORA revealed a minor laceration to the near hind leg.
 
 
 
Race 4: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL NEW YEARS EVE Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately three minutes when DOONYA was fractious leaving the enclosure and HALOHAYLEY required a saddle adjustment.
 
BLUE BOY MCCOMBE – Tightened shortly after the start and had to be restrained.
 
LITTLE ALBERT – Restrained at the start. Held up approaching the home turn.
 
PADDLEPOP – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer C Saunders stated this was the gelding’s first start for the stable and was confident of a forward showing today on the basis of a recent pleasing jump-out at Ipswich.
 
SALEX SPIRIT – Raced three wide throughout.
 
GOLDKIND – Rider dismounted after passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed an injury to the nearside leg. GOLDKIND was euthanized on humane grounds.
 
HALOHAYLEY – The saddle on the mare was readjusted on arrival at the barriers. Raced three wide throughout.
 
TALLAHASSEE LASSIE – Hung out throughout the event and performed below market expectations. Trainer A Williamson gave an undertaking to report back to Stewards in the coming days any condition which may come to light to explain the performance.  
 
DOONYA – Fractious leaving the enclosure, dislodging a plastic running rail upright which needed to be replaced. Trainer J Durston was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race manners.
 
 
 
Race 5: KILCOY PICNIC RACES AUSTRALIA DAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1500 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 3 minutes awaiting the arrival of the on-course vet at the barriers who was attending an injured horse in the tie-up stalls and when AIRLIE MAN proved difficult to load.
 
SPRING NYMPH – Hung out noticeably leaving the home straight on the first occasion taking FORT MYER, TYCOON PLAYER, LADY SELKIE and KISS’N’WIN wider on the track.

YAWKYAWK – Shortly after the start when awkwardly placed at heels and had to be restrained.
 
KISS 'N' WIN – As R Faehr was to be overweight, stewards permitted K Gates to ride the mare.  After considering R Faehr’s recent good record under this rule he was issued a reprimanded. Taken wider on the track leaving the home straight on the first occasion.
 
STYLISH KIM – Reared at the start and lost ground. Near the 1000 metres improved onto the heels of MINOAN SPIRIT and had to be steadied. Shifted out abruptly under pressure near the 100 metres.

Race 6: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS NEW YEARS EVE CUP BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1900 metres
 
HARADIFY – Began awkwardly.
 
RESONARE – After being caught wide was restrained to a midfield trailing position near the 1400 metres.
 
MISS DISS – Raced three wide throughout without cover.
 
SECRET AGENT MAN – Tightened on jumping.
 
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
SPIRIT OF EDYN – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: THANK YOU, PATRONS KILCOY 2020 Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 55 1200 metres
 
LOVE YA BLUE – Slow to begin. Forced wider near the 700 metres.
 
COURTING JOY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination of COURTING JOY revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the second occasion. Trainer G Banks was advised the gelding would now incur a life-time ban from racing.
 
ROGUE DRUMMER – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Near the 700 metres improved quickly between runners before being steadied and shifting out forcing LOVE YA BLUE wider on the track.
 
MAGIC PANTHER – Near the 900 metres was steadied from heels of HALCYON DAYS. Checked near the 350 metres. T Brooker, rider of CLAIRVUE SPIRIT, pleaded guilty pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 350 metres she failed to prevent her mount from shifting in when not fully clear of MAGIC PANTHER which was tightened and had to be checked. The license of T Brooker to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 9th January up to and including midnight 17th January 2021.
 
MOMENTUM GLORY – Began awkwardly then obliged to steady from the heels of DER SEIGER which shifted in.
 
CLAIRVUE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. Raced keenly leaving the 700 metres.
 
 
Race 8: KILCOY DRIVEWAY Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by B El Issa, rider of third placegetter AWESOME POWER, against K Gates, rider of first past the post ALLENA, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from connections and riders and viewing patrol footage, Stewards found that close to the finish line ALLENA shifted out under pressure resulting in AWESOME POWER being steadied. Bearing in mind where the incident took place and the margin between the two runners at the finish the protest was dismissed. K Gates was advised to exercise greater care when her mounts shift out under pressure.
 
AFTER THE STORM – Bumped at the start. Approaching the 800 metres shifted out taking RAINGURL wider on the track.
 
ALLENA – Shifted out under pressure approaching the finish line hampering AWESOME POWER.
 
MACHU PICCHU – Began awkwardly.
 
DE VEGA PEACH – Began awkwardly and bumped with AFTER THE STORM.
 
AWESOME POWER – Approaching the finish line obliged to steady away from the heels of ALLENA.
 
DEVILLAIN – Held up behind the tiring AFTER THE STORM passing the 400 metres before shifting wider on the track.
 
FORGOTTEN FEELING – raced three wide in the early stages.
