GENERAL:
 
As apprentice D. Graham was not riding due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice D. Graham was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again.
 
RACE 1: EVERWILLING CRANES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 800M
 
Due to no rider being available YOKAI was declared a late scratching at 11:45am.
 
ACADINI - As the gelding had not started since May 2017, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, which cleared the horse to race.
 
GORESBRIDGE – Began awkwardly. App. A. Bakos could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer W. Baker advised that the gelding would be retired from the stable.
 
SISTER JOY – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost considerable ground.
 
GOLOVKIN – Tightened for room on jumping away.
 
LUCKY DEALEN – Began awkwardly.
 
RACE 2: SAMIOS TRADING POST CLASS B HANDICAP- 1000M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards permitted Jockey M. Schrapel , the rider of 2nd placegetter VALPONS, to view the photo finish for 1st. After viewing the photo, jockey M. Schrapel was satisfied with the judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
ONELASTCROWN – Leaving the enclosure made contact with the enclosure fence. Underwent a veterinary examination was cleared to race.
 
MISS MOSS – Began awkwardly. Jockey T. Treichel reported that the mare travelled well during the race, however when placed under pressure entering the home straight it failed to quicken and was somewhat disappointing. He added that in his opinion the mare may be suited at distances shorter than that of today’s  event.

WHIPPED CREAM – Barrier gate was marginally slow to open. Hung out throughout.
 
CHERMSIDE MISS – Barrier gate was marginally slow to open.
 
Barrier gates were tested prior to Race 3, however gates 2 and 4 continued  to open slow. Therefore barrier gates 1 – 4 were not used for the remainder of the meeting.
 
RACE 3: WESTERN QLD EARTHMOVING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1200M
 
MAGMELLOU – Began awkwardly.
 
THE CONSIGLIERE – Near the 800m steadied from heels when BRIDYN MAY shifted in. Apprentice T. Townsend (BRIDYN MAY) was advised to exercise more care.
 
 
RACE 4: MARANOA DIGGERS RACE CLUB QTIS MAIDEN PLATE- 1200M
 
SIDINA – Stewards permitted apprentice M. Kennedy to ride ½ kilogram overweight.
 
BEGIN – Steadied from heels near the 800m. Apprentice T. Townsend reported that the gelding travelled well during the race however did not extend when asked for an effort in the home straight and, in her opinion somewhat disappointing.
 
TIN HARE – Dipped leaving the 200m. Jockey N. Evans could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SUPER SID – Slow to begin.
 
RACE 5: BOORINGA CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1400M
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, apprentice A. Bakos and trainer W. Puglsey applied to have SAHDOW VISION declared a non-runner on the basis of being denied a fair start. After viewing the patrol footage it was established that the barrier gate of SHADOW VISON failed to open in unison with the remainder of the field resulting in it losing ground. As stewards were satisfied the gelding was denied a fair start it was declared a non-runner under AR 204. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.
 
16 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
23 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd bets
 
MONEY AD – Stewards allowed apprentice M. Kennedy to claim only 1/2kg of her riding allowance.
 
DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have quarter crack on the off fore hoof.
 
MACMISSILE – Apprentice T. Townsend reported that he gelding resented the kick back. She also added that near the 800m the horse made contact with running rail and as a result of this incident, she was experiencing some discomfort in her right foot.
