ARTIE’S SHORE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

CASTA – Raced wide in the early stages before its rider elected to press forward and occupy a more prominent position near the 1200m.

OPTION – Obliged to steady when awkwardly placed at the heels of ARTIE’S SHORE near the 1200m. Jockey D. Evans pleaded guilty of a charge pursuant to AR137A(5)(a)(ii), in that he used his whip in an excessive manner, that being 10 times prior to the 100m. When assessing penalty, stewards noted a previous breach on 13 September, and issued a $200 fine.

Race 2: Natural Body & Beauty Clinic Maiden H’cap – 1050m

TOORAK RUBY – Stewards approved a late gear change, that being the addition of blinkers first time on the horse. Stewards noted that it had trialled with blinkers at Rockhampton on 2 October. Fractious in the gates. Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.

JUZOU – Raced greenly at various stages of the event and shifted out under pressure noticeably over the final 250m.

Race 3: Seven Mackay Class 2 H’cap – 1300m

ONEMORE EMOTION – Began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed in the early stages despite the efforts of its rider. Hung in rounding the home turn and shortly thereafter was obliged to steady from the heels of BOLD TRAVELLER, which shifted out. When asked to comment on today’s performance, jockey R. Wiggins stated that the gelding may be looking for distances further than that of today’s event, and also added that, in his opinion, it would appreciate racing on a larger track.

BOLD TRAVELLER – Shortly after the start was effected was bumped on the hind quarters by ONEMORE EMOTION and then raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.

SOUND INVESTMENT: Began awkwardly.

DEPUTY DAN – Shifted out over the final 250m.

Race 4: Man About Menswear QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1100m

GOLDIE GIRL – Fractious in the gates.

STARS DON’T RUST – Began very slowly and lost significant ground. Did not respond to jockey R. Payne’s riding in the early stages and was beaten a significant margin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards after considering today’s poor performance advised trainer I Shaw that the gelding would need to trial to the stewards satisfaction prior to its next race start.

CRAIGLEA ELLA – Slow into stride, losing several lengths, then improved rapidly approaching the 750m and was obliged to steady from heels.

TAMBO’S VIXEN – Raced 3 wide in the early stages.

HARVEST PRIDE – Shifted in and made contact with the running rail near the 600m, then shifted out approaching the home turn.

When asked to comment regarding today’s performance Jockey Payne was of the opinion that the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit and “choked off”. Jockey Payne noted that the gelding commenced to weaken near the 800m. Trainer Campeao was advised that the gelding would have a Metropolitan and Provincial ban placed on it until such time its performances were more consistent.
